Chapter 389 Actually, We Were Quite Harmonious Last Night
When Sarah heard Dylan's name, she was momentarily taken aback.
Oliver glanced down at her. There was a hint of sadness in her eyes, a mature woman's allure that was hard to resist. He leaned in and kissed her without thinking.
Sarah was caught off guard. She didn't even think to push him away until he deepened the kiss. She quickly pulled back, her voice shaky, "Dylan's here."
Oliver held her shoulders, ready to make a move.
He whispered in her ear, "We're married. Who cares if he's here?"
Sarah shoved him away, "I'm not as shameless as you."
She called out to the servant outside, "Tell Dylan to wait! I'll be out in a minute."
The servant left to relay the message.
Oliver sat up, his upper body exposed. He glanced at Sarah, who was getting dressed, and smirked, "So cold-hearted! You know I drank too much last night and can't handle Dylan, yet you still push me into this mess."
Sarah finished dressing and stood up, her voice calm, "When it comes to being ruthless, I can't compete with you."
Oliver grabbed a cigarette from his pants on the floor, lit it, and smoked quietly. After finishing more than half, he got up, put on his pants, and zipped them up, thinking about last night's wild time.
He washed up quickly and headed downstairs.
Dylan was on the first floor, pretending to look at the paintings on the wall, but his tense posture showed he was waiting for Oliver.
Oliver stood on the staircase, feeling a mix of emotions. Dylan was the reason Nathan died and why he spent five years in prison. That kind of hatred doesn't just vanish, even for Sarah's sake. He could only keep things civil on the surface.
"You actually came to my place," Oliver said, walking down with a dignified air. He approached Dylan, hands behind his back.
Dylan turned around.
Two equally handsome men faced off, their deep-seated hatred palpable, but face-to-face confrontations were rare.
Dylan stayed silent for a long time.
Oliver sneered, "Want to see Sarah? She's upstairs, probably with the kids. You know Jacob, and there's another one, Nicole, Lester's kid."
He said it nonchalantly.
Dylan looked at him, his voice pained, "Yeah, I wronged the Windsor family. But if you chose to be with Sarah again, you should treat her right. Why are you threatening and forcing her?"
"Threatening and forcing?" Oliver scoffed.
He chuckled, "How do you know that? That's crap. We were pretty harmonious last night."
Oliver's words set Dylan off. As soon as he finished, Dylan's fist came flying, aiming to hurt, no mercy.
Oliver took the punch. When Dylan swung again, Oliver didn't hold back and punched back.
Dylan's nose started bleeding, splattering on the furniture, looking gruesome.
The two men went at it, exchanging blows.
After about ten minutes, they both collapsed on the carpet, breathing heavily. In the end, Oliver's ruthlessness won out. When Sarah came down, Oliver was already standing and gave Dylan a hard kick, "Loser."
Dylan tried to get up but couldn't.
"Dylan!" Sarah rushed over, struggling to help him up. Once he was steady, she called out again, "Dylan!"
Then, she started to cry. Back then, she didn't listen to him and secretly got involved with Oliver, leading to a lot of trouble. After so long, the siblings finally met again. Only they knew how difficult and heartbreaking this meeting was.
Dylan, with a bruised face, gently stroked Sarah's head, just like before, without a word of blame. He said, "I'll take you away now."
Sarah shook her head. Not just because of the evidence in Oliver's hands, but also because of Jacob and Nicole. She couldn't just leave. After years of marriage with Oliver, she knew his temper all too well.
Dylan wanted to say more. Sarah supported him and said to the servant, "Bring the first aid kit to the living room."
The servant respectfully replied, "Yes, Mrs. Windsor."
They went into the living room.
Dylan looked at Sarah, his gaze deep, "Why don't you leave?"
Sarah didn't answer immediately. She took scissors and helped him cut away the torn clothes. When the servant brought the first aid kit, she carefully disinfected and applied medicine to him.
When she was almost done, she finally spoke, "Dylan, you could say I'm used to being looked after. It's so tiring to raise two kids alone! Oliver is Jacob's biological father; he won't treat him badly. If I leave him and divorce him, finding someone else would just be jumping from one fire pit to another! That person might not be as rich as Oliver, and he might not be as generous and kind to me. Dylan, my current life is pretty good, I'm very content! Besides, he even gave me half of his liver."
She spoke insincerely. Dylan could guess the reason but didn't agree with her.
He said, "Sarah, if it's for me, I can go to prison for your freedom! No matter how many years it will be, I can take it. Besides, I may not be as rich as Oliver, but I have at least a few billion in my account. That's enough to support you and the two kids. Now, come with me!"
Dylan grabbed Sarah's hand, trying to take her away, but Sarah refused.
She shook her head lightly, giving a bleak smile, "Dylan, you probably don't know that when we were in Windcrest, I stabbed him once, but his life was tough. His heart is on the right side, and he survived. I confessed and went to prison, but I couldn't escape him. I still ended up back with him. For the sake of Jacob and Nicole, I can't escape. Dylan, don't worry about me. I can make myself live well, even if it's by his side."
Dylan stared at Sarah. The person in front of him was no longer his naive sister. His sister used to cry all night over small matters, but now she was willing to share a bed with a devil and could still smile and say she was doing well. His eyes turned slightly red.
Sarah felt sad too. She walked to his side, gently leaning into Dylan's arms, just like when they were kids.
She choked and murmured, "Dylan, I've grown up. I also have people I want to protect! Trust me this once, I won't let myself fall into an abyss. I will live well and strive to be happy."
At the door, a figure stood quietly. It was Oliver.
