Chapter 491 Husband and Wife Reunion 3
At that moment, Oliver looked up and saw Sarah on the balcony.
Twilight was settling in, with wisps of smoke rising from chimneys across the neighborhood.
In truth, they couldn't clearly see each other's expressions, but after years of marriage, they understood each other so deeply that just a silhouette was enough to guess the other's thoughts.
Oliver's gaze deepened.
Sarah was jealous because he had brought another woman home, and he was secretly delighted by this small display of possessiveness. A handsome smile played across his lips.
On the second-floor balcony, Sarah felt a twinge of annoyance.
Though Claire had complained yesterday, seeing that the visitor was Azalea—and heavily pregnant at that—her heart softened.
Claire rubbed her hands together and pulled Azalea inside. "It's cold out here. You'll catch a chill."
Tears welled in Azalea's eyes.
She had sold herself to Oliver to raise money for her mother's medical treatment. But when she returned to her hometown for the New Year, pregnant, her family and neighbors pointed fingers at her. Her parents took her money and tried to force her to abort the baby and marry someone else.
Thankfully, Oliver had come for her.
He had helped her reclaim her money and brought her back to Evergreen City, saying he needed her help. Azalea would do anything for him—even die if necessary.
After all, he was the man she had loved, and the child in her womb shared blood with Isaac. She couldn't remain indifferent, though she had told Oliver she wouldn't see Nicholas. She would simply deliver the baby in Evergreen City and provide the umbilical cord blood.
Having lived a lonely life, Claire's kindness moved her to tears.
"There, there, dear girl. Don't cry," Claire soothed.
Azalea managed a soft "Mm," but her voice still caught.
Sarah didn't go downstairs immediately.
Oliver didn't check on Jacob and Nicole first, but instead went to the master bedroom. Sarah was delicate, and their bedroom was kept warmer than the rest of the house. Oliver, who preferred the cold, removed his coat as soon as he entered, casually tossing it over the back of the sofa.
His Sarah was pretending to read a book.
Oliver leaned in, gently pressed her shoulders against the sofa, admiring how her long hair fell loosely around her. His blue eyes darkened as he asked in a low voice, "Why didn't you come down?"
Sarah stared at the third button of his shirt, feigning anger. "You brought her to Evergreen City for business, but why bring her to our home? What if someone sees her and thinks the baby is yours?"
Oliver studied her intently, then chuckled softly. "I've never touched her."
"Then how did she get pregnant?"
After saying this, he deliberately began unbuttoning her sweater dress, revealing her slightly rounded belly.
Sarah could hardly bear it. She caught his hands, her voice soft. "Stop that."
Oliver's eyes were filled with desire.
With guests in the house tonight, Sarah didn't want to indulge him. She pushed his hands away. "I'm not as insatiable as you."
Oliver laughed softly, teasing her.
Afraid he might say something more provocative, Sarah pushed him away. "I'm going downstairs to check on dinner."
Oliver didn't move.
After a moment, he wrapped his arms around her slender waist, pulling her into his embrace. His large hands caressed her satisfyingly before he rested his head on her shoulder and spoke seriously, "Tomorrow I'll send her to the suburbs to wait for delivery. Once she gives birth, I'll have the umbilical cord blood sent for Isaac's surgery."
His tone was even and restrained.
Sarah's eyes grew moist. She embraced his waist, her slender white fingers gently stroking his shirt. "You're doing this for me, aren't you?"
Oliver neither confirmed nor denied it.
He only said, "Adult matters don't concern children. Since there's hope for treatment, I can't just stand by and watch someone die without helping. I'm not like your bastard father."
At the mention of that person, Sarah froze momentarily.
Afraid of upsetting her, Oliver deliberately spoke with passion, "After all this effort, you should reward my hard work tonight. The driver and I took turns driving for twelve hours straight."
He said it casually, not expecting Sarah to agree.
She gently nipped at his Adam's apple, her red lips parting as she whispered huskily, "Tonight, let's try something different!"
Oliver was so excited his heart nearly stopped.
