Chapter 149 Grace Gives Birth to Taylor in Pain [2]

Taylor was born.

The doctor told Grace, "The baby's fine! Just a week in the incubator, then she can go home."

Grace collapsed onto the pillow, her lips trembling.

That night had been a rollercoaster of emotions and pain. She was too weak to speak.

Juniper held her hand, laughing and crying. "Grace, did you hear? The baby's fine!"

Grace tried to smile, but tears rolled down her cheeks.

Taylor was placed in the incubator.

Aurora watched from outside, feeling happy. This was Henry's child; she was now a grandmother!

Looking at the baby's features, especially the high-bridged nose, she saw Henry's resemblance.

Aurora watched for a long time before remembering Grace. Late at night, she asked the maid, "How's Grace? If the soup's ready, I'll take it to her. She needs nourishment after giving birth."

The maid hesitated.

Aurora frowned. "What's wrong?"

The maid couldn't hide it anymore. "Mrs. Grace Montague rested for only half an hour after giving birth before she dressed and left with Clara. I think she went to see Nathan one last time."

Aurora's heart sank.

After a pause, she asked softly, "Has the Windsor family sent any message inviting the Montague family to the funeral?"

The maid shook her head. "No! Clara didn't say anything."

Aurora slumped onto the bench, realizing Grace intended to sever ties with Henry. She should have been happy; the child was born, and it didn't matter if Grace stayed or left.

But Aurora couldn't feel happy. She remembered what Frank had said, "Henry will go mad one day."

'No, Henry is her son. How could he go mad over Grace?' Aurora didn't believe it!

The Windsor family's door was wide open.

The night wind blew in, chilling to the bone. The temporary mourning hall for the Windsor family was bleak and desolate. Nathan, once so prominent, now had no one but Clara to arrange his funeral, as Oliver couldn't handle it.

Grace walked into the mourning hall. Though she had just given birth, she looked emaciated, devoid of any postnatal glow, as if all her vitality had been drained overnight.

Grace looked at Nathan's remains, crying uncontrollably. She knelt and said she was sorry, thinking that if she had been capable, Oliver wouldn't have spent years in prison, and Nathan wouldn't have died of a heart attack.

In one night, Grace's world had almost collapsed. She had tasted all the bitterness of life.

Juniper, with tears in her eyes, supported her and cried with her.

Clara, unable to bear it any longer, rushed over and hugged Grace, crying, "Your father was most worried about you when he passed, Grace. No matter how sad you are, you must take care of yourself. It's so cold at night; you shouldn't stay here! If your father knew, it would break his heart!"

But Grace refused to get up. She hoped Nathan could feel her longing and forgive her for not being by his side when he passed.

Grace's face was covered in tears. She softly told Nathan that she had given birth to a baby named Taylor. She would raise the child well and love Taylor as Donna had loved her.

Clara held her, also crying.

The Windsor family was immersed in grief. They didn't send out any obituary, intending to keep everything simple.

But the Windsor family had once been so prominent, and Oliver's case had been so sensational that Nathan's death still made the news in Evergreen City for three days and nights.

Many people came! Heather and Lucas, Caleb and Amara, Felix, and Frank, and even Brent from Vesper City came to pay their respects. Only Henry didn't come back!

Over the next few days, Grace never mentioned Henry, as if he never existed in her life, as if she had no husband or lover at all.

Grace, still recovering from childbirth, arranged Nathan's funeral.

When Dylan visited, he was full of regret and apologies. He told Grace he was sorry.

Standing in front of the mourning hall, Grace looked at Nathan's portrait and gave a bleak smile. "Dylan, I know you did your best! The Windsor family is like this now because Henry took back his favor. When he likes someone, nothing is a problem. When he doesn't, whether she lives or dies, whether she's sad or not, doesn't matter to him at all!"

Grace shed tears lightly. "Being by his side, I had to beg and please him like a dog without dignity, but it might not even work! In the end, this is the result!"

Henry had once said she had no choice but to beg him!

Now, she wouldn't beg him anymore because she had almost nothing left!

A gust of wind blew in. Grace stood in the mourning hall at night, her body so thin it was almost fleshless. She stood quietly, then slowly bowed to bid Nathan a final farewell.

A week later, at Evergreen City International Airport, Henry got off the private jet. With him were Rebecca, Calvin, and Elodie's cousin, Sierra Williams. Of course, there were also Elodie's ashes.

Calvin held Elodie's ashes, tears streaming down his face, but he didn't dare to cry out loud.

Rebecca had other plans. They had gained wealth because of Elodie, but now that Elodie was gone, they needed someone to continue this honor. Sierra was the most beautiful among the younger generation, and she even looked a bit like Grace.

Sure enough, Henry was momentarily stunned when he first saw Sierra.

So, Rebecca thought there was hope.

Walking through the VIP corridor of the airport, Henry was about to part ways with the Williams family. Calvin said many words of thanks to Henry.

Henry's expression was indifferent, barely responding.

Rebecca seized the moment, pulling Calvin away and leaving Sierra alone with Henry. But she didn't expect Henry to bring up the matter of the record.

In the VIP smoking area, Henry was dressed in all black, with a black trench coat over it. He stood tall and handsome, exuding an indescribable charm. When he smoked, his thin cheeks slightly hollowed, making him look even more masculine.

Sierra's heart pounded as she watched, but she didn't dare to think too much because Henry had a wife and was said to have a child soon. Before leaving, her mother had told her not to follow Elodie's path and become a mistress.

Looking at Henry in front of her, Sierra found it hard to associate him with Elodie. They were really too different. Besides, she had seen Grace online, and she was truly stunning.

Sierra doubted Henry's taste!

Henry flicked the ash from his cigarette and said indifferently, "Look through Elodie's belongings and see if there's a record with violin music. If there is, send it to the company. Celeste will write you a check."

Sierra understood that Henry liked Elodie's talent. She smiled gently and agreed readily.

Henry was slightly dazed, seeing Grace's shadow in Sierra's face. He didn't want to look anymore, nor did he dare to.

Grace didn't love him anymore. She had said that every interaction with him made her feel incredibly disgusted.

How had things between him and Grace come to this point?

Henry turned to extinguish his cigarette. When he straightened up again, his blue eyes were filled with an inextricable depth. He didn't say goodbye to Sierra and walked straight towards the exit.

At the entrance of the arrival area, Celeste hurried over, her steps quick.

Seeing Henry, she opened her mouth but didn't know where to start.

In a week, too many things had happened. And Henry knew none of it.

Celeste looked at Henry, her eyes moist, and even her lips trembled slightly. Her first words were, "Mr. Montague, the baby was born prematurely!"
