Chapter 413 To See Her, He Crawled Through the Moore Family's Dog Hole

Oliver lay sprawled on the couch, his head throbbing.

A girl walked over to open the door, and standing outside was none other than Zoey.

Zoey glanced at the girl.

The girl looked a lot like Sarah, and with just one look, Zoey got what Oliver was up to. She cursed under her breath but kept her cool, quickly stepping inside.

She navigated through the scattered bottles and knelt beside Oliver, saying, "Oliver, you gotta get to the office right now! There's a big problem!"

Oliver shielded his eyes with his hand.

He asked softly, "Is it Mr. Moore making a move?"

Zoey hesitated.

After a moment, she replied, "You know how Mr. Moore is with his connections and resources. A bunch of key projects we were promised are now gone. We can't do anything because Mr. Moore's got a clean slate, leaving us with no leverage."

"That sly fox couldn't wait even one night," Oliver said as he sat up.

He patted his head and buttoned his shirt hastily. Before leaving, he dropped a $500,000 check. It was the club's rule—whether he slept with the girl or not, staying overnight required payment.

He spoke to Zoey as they walked.

"Oliver, things are so urgent, and you still have time to be with a girl?"

"I didn't sleep with her!"

"If you didn't, why leave a check?"

Downstairs, he got into the back seat of a limo, where a clean set of clothes awaited him.

He pressed a button, raising the partition between the front and back seats.

As Oliver changed, Zoey continued, "Besides those projects, I heard there's a task force set to investigate the Windsor Group... Oliver, Mr. Moore is coming down hard!"

Oliver wasn't stupid.

He understood Zoey's implication: to protect the Windsor Group and secure his future, he should make peace with Matthew and sign the divorce papers, hoping the issue would blow over.

He clicked his tongue.

If he backed down now, he wouldn't be Oliver.

Oliver tightened his tie.

He spoke calmly, giving Zoey instructions. Instead of heading to the office, he went straight to the airport, boarding a private jet to Harmony City.

Oliver had some connections with Terry Perez in Harmony City.

Though they hadn't dealt directly,

Oliver had done business with Terry's wife, bringing in over a billion dollars in the past couple of years. Now in trouble, he intended to leverage this relationship.

By morning, Oliver and Zoey were in Harmony City.

They had lunch with contacts.

In the afternoon, they played cards until 2 AM. Finally, Terry's wife, Layla, relented, speaking in a soft tone, "Oliver, I'll talk to Terry about your situation. I won't forget our friendship."

Oliver, ever the gentleman, opened the car door for Layla. "Thank you, Mrs. Perez."

Layla smiled, "Our cooperation has been very pleasant. Your success is my success! I understand that."

She added, "Terry doesn't like Mr. Moore's harsh methods. Considering you're his son-in-law, his ruthlessness is surprising. I'll speak to Terry; I'm sure he'll help you."

Oliver smiled. "I won't let Mrs. Perez's efforts go unrewarded."

Layla understood.

The luxury car drove away.

Zoey remarked, "Mrs. Perez won $20 million tonight; she must be in a good mood."

Oliver stood in the night.

He lit a cigarette.

As the smoke rose, he smirked, "If she didn't intend to help, she wouldn't have dared win that $20 million."

What he didn't tell Zoey was that years ago, to get close to Terry, he had set up Layla with a handsome young college student, capturing the encounter on video.

The video was still in his possession.

That student, now almost 27, worked as a white-collar employee by day and Layla's plaything by night. Despite the past, he remained favored. What a talent!

The neon lights of the city flickered on Oliver's face.

With Terry's intervention, Matthew had to deal with him.

This reduced the pressure on Oliver, but the Windsor Group still faced significant challenges. For over half a month, employees worked late into the night, sometimes all night, to cooperate with investigations and clean up internal issues.

Oliver had constant engagements.

In half a month, he lost at least $500 million playing cards.

Terry's involvement made things tough for Matthew, too. Oliver and Matthew were locked in a fierce battle, barely holding their ground. If this continued, both would suffer, likely leading to mutual destruction.

But neither side would relent.

Spring arrived.

Starlight Theater came to Evergreen City, and tickets were impossible to get.

Isabella managed to get two tickets and sneaked into Sarah's room. "Guess what I got?"

Sarah couldn't guess.

Isabella revealed the tickets, waving them in front of Sarah. "You've been into Stella lately, right? I got Nicholas to snag us two tickets. Let's go tonight."

Sarah's eyes lit up with surprise.

She took the tickets, smiling softly. "Isabella, how did you know I liked her?"

"Of course, Nicholas told me."

Isabella patted her hand. "Nicholas said there were only two tickets left; otherwise, he would have joined us... I wonder what Miss Hall is like in person to attract so many fans."

Sarah smiled. "She must be exceptional."

Isabella leaned in, whispering, "Honestly, Oliver is even more attractive. It's no wonder you fell for him back then."

Sarah whispered, "Looks aren't everything; he's dark inside."

Isabella didn't want to upset her, so she dropped the topic. They dressed up and headed to the Rosewood Lane Theater in Evergreen City.

The place was bustling.

Tickets were indeed hard to come by.

They had the best seats in a private box, with top-notch views and ambiance. But as soon as Sarah sat down, she noticed someone familiar in the opposite box—Oliver.

He wasn't alone.

Besides Zoey, there was an older woman, around 45, with an air of wealth.

Isabella followed Sarah's gaze.

She was startled, then whispered to Sarah, "That's Terry's wife from Harmony City. Terry is very powerful there, comparable to our father. It's because of Terry's involvement that Oliver hasn't been forced to comply."

"How could he get Terry involved?"

"You have to admit, Oliver is very shrewd! I bet Layla has a secret he's holding over her, forcing her to get her husband to help Oliver."

Just then, Oliver looked their way.

Sarah turned away.

She told Isabella, "He's always been ruthless."

Isabella nodded in agreement.

At that moment, a staff member entered, carrying a lavish fruit platter. She placed it on the small table and said, "Mr. Windsor sent this for you, along with some snacks that will be brought over shortly."

Sarah wanted to refuse.

But Isabella accepted.

After the staff left, Isabella said, "Refusing would give him face! Acting indifferent is best, making him unsure of your true feelings. Let him know that such simple gestures mean nothing to a Moore family lady."

"Sarah, think about it. Is a $298 fruit platter worth talking to him? That would give him too much credit! Just leave it untouched; that will make him feel disappointed."

"If you say no..."

"Men will think... she says no, but she really wants it!"

Isabella's advice was well-received by Sarah, who followed it and ignored the gesture.

They focused on the show.

Oliver, on the other hand, couldn't concentrate.

Layla was a fan of Starlight Theater.

She occasionally spoke to Oliver, who responded, but his eyes were on Sarah. She wore a delicate silk dress, her hair elegantly styled, looking gentle and lovely.

She occasionally reached for food.

Her exposed arm was smooth and tender.

But she never touched the fruit platter he sent.

Oliver felt a pang of disappointment.

Two hours later, the show ended.

As Sarah stood up, Oliver was already gone.

She sighed in relief.

She thought that with Layla around, he wouldn't dare offend her and wouldn't have time to bother her. She returned to the Moore Mansion, checked on the kids, and fell into a deep sleep.

As the moon set, she felt someone on top of her.

She slowly opened her eyes to see Oliver's face.

In the faint moonlight,

His face was bruised, clearly from a fight.

Oliver covered her mouth.

He didn't let her make a sound.

When he arrived, Vaughn was guarding the door and fought him.

Vaughn was no match for him, but Vaughn had four bodyguards.

No matter how tough Oliver was, he couldn't take on so many. Of course, Vaughn didn't come out unscathed either; a kick from Oliver would keep him down for half a month!

Oliver was battered and exhausted.

He checked on the kids before coming to Sarah. He had no energy to be aggressive. He just tied her hands and held her, slowly licking his wounds.

At that moment, he looked nothing like the president of the Windsor Group.

He resembled a thug fresh out of jail.

For over half a month, he hadn't had a good night's sleep!

Every day, Matthew could potentially ruin him. The pressure was immense, but a man wouldn't easily cry or give up; that would be seen as weak!

He couldn't enter through the front or back doors.

He sneaked in through a side door, spotting a servant walking a golden retriever.

The door was narrow; he had to squeeze through!

Once inside, he was covered in dust, brushing it off for a while.
