Chapter 168 The Final Farewell!

On the way back, Henry ditched his coat and wrapped it around Grace.

While bundling her up, he could feel her ribs poking through, even with the thick coat on.

She was too weak to fight back and just slumped against the passenger seat. The black coat swallowed up most of her tiny, sharp face, making what was left look even skinnier.

Grace stayed quiet.

She stared out the window, watching the crescent moon dip behind the trees. As the sun started to peek out, she whispered, "Henry, good morning!"

But Henry wasn't feeling it. He knew this was Grace's goodbye, her final farewell. He didn't want to let her go; he couldn't let her go. He wanted her back.

The car stopped at the intersection, and inside, it was dead silent except for Grace's faint breathing.

With a raspy voice, Henry said he was sorry. He reached out to hold her hand, but Grace pulled away.

She wouldn't let him touch her. Their marriage was done for. They both knew why. No matter what, they couldn't keep going.

At six in the morning, Henry brought Grace back to the villa.

Out of nowhere, a fancy black sedan rolled through the gate right after the black Range Rover and parked.

Henry got out of the car.

From the black sedan, Aurora stepped out with Esme. Aurora was all smiles and said to Henry, "Esme and I thought you might be lonely, so we came to keep you company."

That made Esme and Henry's relationship pretty clear.

Esme smiled sweetly. "I missed Taylor so much. I rushed over early to see her! She'll be so happy to see me."

She was all gentle and affectionate, eager and proactive.

But Henry's eyes were cold. He looked at Aurora and called her by her name, his tone icy, "Why did you treat Grace like that? You don't have to like her, but why couldn't you leave her a way out?"

Aurora was stunned. She didn't expect Henry to figure it out so fast!

Henry didn't look at her again. He opened the car door and gently lifted Grace out.

Grace, wrapped in his coat, felt as light as a feather in his arms.

Henry didn't glance at Aurora or Esme. He just calmly told the villa's security, "Take my mother to that nursing home! Whatever Grace went through, she will go through the same. After fifteen days, let her out."

Aurora was shocked. When she snapped out of it, she looked at Henry's back and yelled in disbelief, "Henry, you're crazy! I'm your mother!"

Henry turned to look at her. "You don't have to be my mother!"

Aurora took a step back, muttering, "You're crazy! You're really crazy!"

Henry's voice was ice-cold. "Actually, you knew the truth all along. You knew Elodie was pretending to be Grace. But you didn't say anything. Because you wouldn't let me have something I love!"

He added, "I told you not to touch Grace! Even if I divorced her, she is still Taylor's mother, still the woman I once had! You've pushed me too far!"

Henry was resolute. Aurora was dragged away, cursing Neil as she got into the car.

Esme leaned against the car, giving a bitter smile.

Henry had just found his shot. He never wanted to give up on Grace. He found a reason to patch things up, a reason to give himself to Grace again. He loved Grace!

Henry loved Grace, so what did Esme's years of waiting even matter?

After all these years, Grace had been through hell and back, and Esme still wasn't a match for Grace. How ridiculous! What did Esme lack compared to Grace?

Henry carried Grace into the villa.

The early-rising maid saw Grace and was shocked. Then tears started to fall, and she choked up, "Mrs. Montague, how did you get so thin! Didn't they feed you over there?"

Grace was too weak to speak. She forced a faint, dazed smile.

The maid wiped her tears. "I'll go make something to eat right away. Mrs. Montague, you should rest upstairs first." The maid hurried away.

Henry carried Grace upstairs, pushing open the bedroom door with one hand. Inside, it was warm like spring.

Taylor was sleeping sweetly in the crib.

Celeste was lounging on the sofa, having stayed up all night.

When Henry brought Grace in, Celeste woke up and was stunned.

Celeste, who rarely showed weakness, had tears in her eyes. She got up and choked, "How did it come to this? Was it that bad over there?"

Grace gave a bitter smile. She gently closed her eyes and whispered, "I want to see the baby."

Henry placed her on the sofa and went to get Taylor, intending to put her in Grace's arms, but Grace refused, "I'm all dirty, I can't hold her."

Henry was visibly taken aback.

At this moment, Celeste brought over a cup of hot milk and some snacks. She knelt in front of Grace and softly said, "Have a little something first."

Grace couldn't tear her eyes away from Taylor; she missed her so much. She longed to touch Taylor but hesitated, fearing she might be dirty and could pass germs to her. Eventually, she requested Henry to take Taylor away.

After eating and regaining some strength, she stated, "I need to take a bath first."

Henry gently said, "Eat something first, then take a bath. You're too weak right now."

Grace didn't voice any disagreement.

She looked at Celeste, who seemed to understand and blinked, "I'll go downstairs and check on the kitchen."

Celeste intentionally left to give the couple some space to talk. She had a hunch about what Grace wanted to say to Henry.

After Celeste left, only Henry and Grace were left in the bedroom. Grace looked at Taylor and softly began, "Henry, given the risk I'm taking with my own life, it's not too much to ask for three things now, is it?"

Henry quietly gazed at her.

Grace gave a bitter smile and continued, "First, prepare a car. I want to take Taylor away. Second, I want to take the nanny who usually takes care of Taylor. Third, we get a divorce."

Henry stared at Grace.

After a long while, he walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and stood quietly.

His silhouette was lonely.

He stood for a long time, about five minutes, before he hoarsely said, "Okay."

Henry said, "Grace, you know, whatever you ask for now, I'll agree to! I'll let you go, and I'll let you take Taylor. But when I miss her, can I see her?"

Before Grace could respond, Henry turned to her with a humble expression. "Eat something and take a bath. I'll make arrangements for your departure."
