Chapter 268 This place Has Become Grace's Slaughterhouse
Riley laughed so hard she started crying. "He said he loves her the most. So what am I? His old, worn-out nanny and maid? I can't even wrap my head around when they got together, and I don't even wanna think about when Bryan started noticing his adopted daughter! He said it feels different with her! Am I not pretty enough?"
Riley continued, "I killed him, and I killed that adopted daughter too. Threw her into a cesspool, letting that young body rot and stink. At that moment, I felt so damn satisfied!"
Aurora almost puked. "You're seriously twisted!"
Riley ignored Aurora and walked straight to Grace, a weird smile on her face. "Compared to that, I've been way too nice to you all."
Riley grabbed Grace by the neck and, under her desperate gaze, injected the liquid into her arm.
Aurora screamed, "Don't touch her!"
Taylor cried out for her mom.
In Grace's desperate eyes, there was a hint of calm. She looked at Riley and asked softly, "Riley, if one day you lost your memory, would you be even more miserable? Because you would forget Bryan, forget the man you loved and hated."
Riley was stunned for a moment.
Grace tightly gripped the syringe, pulled it out forcefully, and then, under Riley's incredulous gaze, stabbed it into her throat, blood gushing out.
Riley struggled, staring at Grace with wide eyes.
Grace reached down and untied the rope around her feet. It was a slipknot, something most people wouldn't even notice. She had learned it from Juniper after being kidnapped as a kid!
Juniper had said that Grace wouldn't need to be afraid anymore.
Grace looped the rope around Riley's neck and tightened it, causing Riley's eyes to roll back.
Human potential had no limits.
Grace dragged her with the rope and grabbed the box of drugs. She pinned Riley down and injected all the liquid into her muscles, one syringe after another.
This place had become Grace's slaughterhouse.
The shadows on the mountain walls were all scenes of her slaughter. At this moment, Grace was no longer just Grace; she was a mother who wanted her child to survive.
Riley had gone mad; she wouldn't spare anyone.
Aurora's face was covered in blood and tears. She used her body to shield Taylor, not letting her see.
Aurora collapsed to the ground, recalling scenes from her childhood. Riley had always chased after her, calling her name.
Suddenly, Riley stood up shakily and pulled out a knife with a plum blossom pattern on the handle.
Aurora screamed a warning, "Grace, watch out!"
But it was too late. Riley's knife stabbed into Grace's abdomen, and blood slowly flowed from her belly, dripping onto the ground.
Consciousness was fading, and her vision was becoming blurry. In her ears, she could hear Taylor's cries, calling for her mom.
Grace thought, 'I can't die! I've got Taylor, Avery, and Henry!'
Today, they finally patched things up and couldn't wait to be together. They had so many days ahead of them. Henry had told her to be happy every day, not just as a blessing but as a promise. Grace really wanted Henry to keep that promise.
She really wanted to watch Taylor and Avery grow up with him, to grow old together. They had finally reconciled and found their love.
Grace was so unwilling to give up! But she had been injected with the drug, and now she was losing too much blood. She might really not make it.
She was so tied to this world, so tied to her kids, and just didn't want to leave. But she might have to break her promise to Henry. She couldn't go back to the villa as the lady of the house, couldn't be his Mrs. Montague anymore.
She thought that Henry loved the children so much, he would watch them grow up and take good care of them.
Grace hugged Riley tightly, using all her strength to stumble towards the cave entrance.
Outside was a bottomless abyss, and Grace was scared too! She loved beauty; she had once been her parents' little princess. But now, if her shattered body could ensure Taylor's safety, she was willing!
At that moment, Aurora seemed to realize something.
Aurora cried out desperately, "Grace! No! Don't!"
Grace, however, only gave her one last sorrowful look and mouthed the words, "I forgive you."
In the end, Grace chose forgiveness. She called out, "Aurora!"
Aurora cried out in grief, struggling to move her body out of the cave. In the end, she saw Grace holding Riley as they fell into the abyss, leaving a way out for her and Taylor.
Aurora screamed, and in that moment, her whole world fell apart.Taylor crawled out too, staring blankly. Aurora covered her with her body, crying uncontrollably, "Taylor! Taylor! Your mom is gone!"
Taylor was in a daze for a long time before she softly called out, "Mommy!"
When Henry arrived, there were more than ten police cars following.
The scene was covered in blood, and Aurora was still kneeling by the cliff, looking out of it. When she saw Henry, she mumbled, "Henry, Grace fell!" After saying that, Aurora fainted.
Henry's face showed no emotion, stern to the point of being unapproachable. No one knew how tense his body was at that moment. He calmly directed the search efforts, and he himself went down with a rope to look for Grace.
Since Henry arrived, he had been busy searching for her. He didn't even have time to comfort the frightened Taylor. His heart trembled constantly; he couldn't afford to waste a single second. He was afraid that if Grace was still alive, he would miss the chance to save her.
Clara arrived! She found Henry, and Henry supported her, saying softly, "We will find her."
But he himself stared at the bottomless abyss, lost in thought.
