Chapter 224 Are You Trembling Because of the Thrill of an Affair
Grace didn't want Henry to see her like this.
She turned her head a bit and croaked, "It's nothing!"
She paused. "Get the nanny to bring the kids down. I'm not going up."
Henry didn't budge. Under the dim moonlight, his blue eyes locked onto her, catching every little twitch. He straight-up asked, "Have you been crying?"
"No!" Grace couldn't handle his stare anymore. She hopped out of the car and said, "I'll call them myself."
As soon as her feet hit the ground, Henry grabbed her slender wrist.
He held her, eyeing her hot dress and the faint red marks on her wrist under the moonlight.
With a touch of stubbornness, he gently pulled her into his arms.
Grace's body shook a bit.
They were super close, and Henry gently brushed her cheek, wiping away her tears. His voice was deep and mysterious. "Are you trembling from the excitement of a secret affair, or something else?"
Grace tried to get up, but he firmly held her waist.
Grace's voice was thick with emotion. "Henry, we're outside! What will the servants think if they see us? And what about Anouk? Aren't you afraid she'll be upset?"
Suddenly, Henry chuckled softly. He even said gently, "You're just saying that to mess with me!"
He figured she had something going on and didn't want to spill, so he didn't push. But right now, he didn't want to let her go either. He knew it was crazy, but he was drawn to her like a moth to a flame.
He even lowered his head and kissed her soft lips lightly.
Grace was stunned. She didn't react, just looked at him softly and helplessly. Her body was cradled in his arms, soft and yielding against his strength.
Maybe it was the setting, her low mood, or his pent-up desire, they kissed passionately in the night garden. It wasn't wild, but it had a hint of heartbreak, and neither of them spoke.
They just kept kissing, gently as if afraid to wake from a fragile dream. They both could feel each other's physiological responses.
Grace, not daring to look at that area, nor to recall how boldly and straightforwardly she had expressed her desire for him last time, felt Henry's sudden surge of desire as she melted in his arms, causing a noticeable reaction in his trousers. Finally, Henry slightly let her go.
He pressed his forehead against hers, calming down together. After a while, he looked into her eyes and asked softly, "Didn't he satisfy you? You were really into it just now."
Grace didn't move away. She even wrapped her arms around his neck, her expression soft. "It's been a long time since I've been with him! Women have needs too. It's normal for me to react when you kiss me like that."
Grace seemed to hesitate for a moment and asked, "Do you want to take this further?"
Probably afraid Henry would overthink, she quickly added, "We're both adults, no need to be responsible for me."
Henry's gaze turned cold.
Grace knew he was going to back off. She lightly flicked her long hair with an indifferent look, as if it was something she would typically do when she was with men. "If you don't want to, forget it."
Henry looked at her as if he were looking at a unfaithful woman.
After a while, he said in a low voice, "I'll have the nanny bring the kids down. And have the driver take you home later; you're not in a good state."
Under the faint moonlight, Grace didn't speak.
Henry pushed the wheelchair away with determination.
He left somewhat awkwardly, feeling not only self-loathing but also that he cared, cared that she had someone else by her side.
He had always cared. What man didn't have a possessive streak, especially someone like Henry?
Grace watched him walk away, her eyelids drooping.
She had a lot on her mind; otherwise, she could've had Henry tonight. He had a high drive, and after being single for years, he couldn't resist being teased. But she wasn't in the right moon tonight, not feeling it.
She was still mulling over what Dylan had said, still wondering if Oliver had really married Sarah. All these thoughts were weighing her down.
Grace kept waiting for Henry.
But instead of Henry, a nanny came running down, sounding urgent. "Ms. Taylor Montague isn't feeling well, she's talking in her sleep! Mr. Montague asked you to go upstairs and check on her."
"When did this happen?" Grace asked as she quickly headed towards the villa.
She walked fast, and the nanny followed closely, saying, "She was fine this afternoon, but she threw a little tantrum before bed. Mr. Montague comforted her for a long time!"
Grace's heart tightened.
Just as she was going upstairs, she ran into Anouk coming down, holding a tray of medicine.
Grace stopped her and said softly, "Anouk, from now on, without my permission, you're not allowed on the second floor, and you can't get close to Taylor and Avery."
Anouk's beautiful eyes narrowed slightly. "Ms. Windsor, what right do you have to order me around?"
Grace didn't stop walking, her voice coming from the top of the stairs. "Because I'm Henry's ex-wife, because I'm the mother of his two kids, and you mean nothing to him!"
Anouk's eyes filled with tears. She held back, gripping the tray so tightly her fingers turned white.
Grace quickly walked into the master bedroom. Avery was sleeping on the bed, and Taylor was in Henry's arms.
He was holding Taylor with one hand, gently comforting her.
Taylor was half-asleep, sometimes talking in her sleep, sometimes crying softly. Her small face, pressed against Henry's chest, was tear-streaked and looked very pitiful.
Henry's face bore a look of heartache.
When Grace came over, he motioned for her to hold Taylor, then took out his phone and made a call to Clara, asking her to come over.
Henry spoke with great respect on the phone, "Taylor might be scared! We need you to come over."
Grace held Taylor, comforting her.
Taylor was restless in her sleep, her eyes opening slightly under the light, calling Grace like a little kitten, then hugging her and crying.
Grace pressed her face against Taylor's and asked Henry, "Should we take her to the hospital?"
At this moment, there were no barriers between them, no calculations, only Taylor's health. They couldn't bear the pain and loss again.
Henry hung up the phone and said softly, "Let's wait for Clara to take a look first! Taylor seems to be scared, and Clara knows more about this."
Grace didn't say anything more. She held Taylor, walking back and forth, gently and patiently comforting her.
Henry looked at the nanny and said, "Get Grace a pair of indoor slippers."
The nanny quickly went to get them.
Henry looked at Grace again, only to find that her body was still as slender as before. She used to be so weak, but now she could hold a six or seven-year-old child for so long. He suddenly felt a bit sad and hated himself even more.In the bedroom, it was just the four of them. Grace sensed Henry's emotions and said calmly, "Between husband and wife, neither should bear all the burdens. Henry, pushing me away, you thought you were helping, but I have never shied away from the challenges of raising our children! No matter how good other men are, do you really think they could do better than you?"
