Chapter 331 He Hasn't Forgotten That Sarah Is Still Waiting for Him

Oliver bolted to the hotel.

Ellie had mixed antibiotics with red wine and was already half out of it. Without wasting a second, he scooped her up and rushed to the nearest hospital. The doctors had to pump her stomach and give her an enema. After a grueling night, they finally managed to save her.

As dawn broke, Ellie came to in the hospital room. She blinked at the white walls and the faint smell of antiseptic.

Oliver stood by the window, his back to her.

After the long night, his hair was a mess, but it gave him a rugged, masculine vibe.

Ellie felt a lump in her throat. "Oliver!"

Oliver didn't turn around. He kept his eyes on the morning light outside and said calmly, "If you don't actually want to die, stop doing this to yourself. One more time and you might not make it."

"You still care about me!" Ellie said, her voice filled with hope.

Oliver slowly turned around, his expression complicated.

Ignoring her condition, Ellie threw off the covers and ran to him, hugging him tightly. She buried her face in his chest, her voice choked with emotion. "Oliver, you do care about me! You feel sorry for me, don't you? Let's forget the past. From now on, let me love you the right way. I promise I won't ask for any titles, won't bother her, and I won't hurt Jacob. In fact, I'll love him too. Oliver, give me a chance! I love you. I've never loved anyone else but you."

Oliver pushed her away. "Don't do this! We're long over."

"I don't believe it." Ellie hugged him again, tightly. She murmured, "If you had no feelings for me, how could you rush over here? You knew she would be angry."

She was talking about Sarah.

Oliver was momentarily stunned. He suddenly remembered that he had promised Sarah to go with her for a check-up.

Just as he was about to push Ellie away, the doctor walked in, holding a stack of test results. He paused slightly upon seeing them embrace, then said seriously, "Mr. Windsor, Ms. Johnson's test results are out. Her heart is not in good condition and she is at risk of a heart attack. I recommend she be hospitalized for a week, and she must quit drinking."

"How did her heart get this way?" Oliver gently pushed Ellie aside and walked over to take the test results. There were indeed some issues.

The doctor adjusted his glasses. "I've scheduled further tests for Ms. Johnson, around 9 AM. Heart-related issues should not be taken lightly."

Oliver nodded and saw the doctor out. He closed the door and slowly walked to the small sofa, sitting down. He took out a cigarette, held it between his lips, then removed it.

He said to Ellie, "Get well, then go to Windcrest."

"You'll love Jacob? That's just not realistic. Ellie, I've decided to let go of the past. I want to build a good life with Sarah. I'm not hiding anything from you; I do feel guilty, but there's no real romantic love."

Ellie pressed on, "Do you like Sarah?"

Oliver didn't answer her.

Tears welled up in Ellie's eyes. She walked over to him, half-kneeling in front of him, and pressed her cheek against his leg, her voice soft. "Do I have to leave? We don't need a serious relationship. I just want to live in the same city as you, in the house you set up for me. Occasionally, I can see you and have a meal with you, and I'll be satisfied! Oliver, I won't ruin your family."

Oliver looked down at her for a long time before he still refused. "Go to Windcrest! I'll arrange everything for you there, and you'll be well taken care of for the rest of your life."

Ellie became agitated again, threatening to jump out the window.

Oliver, losing his temper, didn't stop her. Instead, he pressed her head against the window, his voice stern. "Go ahead. If you really jump, you won't have to go abroad, and you won't have to torment yourself anymore."

Ellie's lips trembled. Suddenly, she threw herself into Oliver's arms.

Her voice broke. "I won't jump! I'll do whatever you say, Oliver. If you want me to go abroad, I'll go. I'll live well over there and won't bother you. Just stay with me for now, okay? Once I'm discharged, you can go back to her."

Ellie cried bitterly in Oliver's arms. "But I love you! No woman wants to push the man she loves into someone else's arms. Oliver, you're too cruel to me!"

A ray of morning light shone on Oliver's face, making him look cold.

He thought to himself that if he weren't married, seeing Ellie so broken and ill, he probably would marry her. It wouldn't be out of love, but out of a sense of responsibility.

After much consideration, Oliver agreed to stay with Ellie during her hospitalization. Once she recovered, he would send her abroad.

At dawn, he called Sarah's phone. It rang for about six seconds before Sarah answered, her voice a bit hoarse.

Oliver asked softly, "Did you catch a cold?"

Sarah didn't respond.

Oliver hesitated before saying, "I have some things to deal with this week, so I might not be able to be with you and Jacob. Don't forget your check-up this morning. Ask Olivia to accompany you, okay?"

He felt guilty, so his tone was gentle.

Sarah didn't want to ask, she just stated, "You're with Ellie, aren't you? Are you going to be with her all week? Oliver, I don't know what past you have with her, and I don't know what you owe her. But you seem to have forgotten that Jacob is your son. He's still in the hospital, and this morning he woke up asking where his dad was. Oliver, can I tell Jacob that his dad is with the person who almost killed him?"

Oliver held the phone, tilting his head back slightly.

His voice was hoarse. "One week, just one week, and I'll be back."

Sarah's tone was cold. "Do as you please."

She quickly hung up.

Oliver felt a sense of desolation. But he thought, once he returned and coaxed her, Sarah would understand. Over time, they could reconcile.

As for Jacob, children always forgot quickly.

For the next week, Oliver stayed at the hospital with Ellie.

Although they lived together, he never touched Ellie. Even when she initiated kisses and caresses, he pushed her away.

Oliver hadn't forgotten that Sarah was still waiting for him.
