Chapter 119 This Is All I Can Give You!
The banquet wrapped up, and Amara got a car to take Grace home.
As soon as Grace stepped out, she spotted a black Range Rover parked outside her building. Dylan was leaning against it, smoking a regular cigarette for a change.
Seeing Grace, he walked over and handed her some papers. "Oliver's trial got pushed back two months."
Grace's hands shook as she took the documents. "How did this happen?"
Dylan took a deep drag. "I asked around, but no one would spill. You should talk to Mr. Montague; he might know more."
He paused, then added, "Some things are beyond the law. They are beyond my grasp, yet Mr. Montague can handle them easily."
Grace looked up, her face pale under the streetlight.
Dylan knew it was harsh, but it was the truth. Power is held by a few. In Evergreen City, Henry's status meant he could get anything. If Grace swallowed her pride, it would be no problem.
Dylan stubbed out his cigarette, got in his car, and left.
Grace didn't go upstairs, worried Nathan and Clara would find out. With trembling hands, she called Henry.
The phone rang a few times before Henry answered, sounding gentle. "Why are you calling so late?"
Grace hesitated, then said, "Oliver's trial got postponed two months."
Henry replied calmly, "I heard."
"Henry, about this..." Grace began.
Henry cut her off, his voice soft. "Want to talk? Come to the villa. I'm waiting."
He hung up.
Grace stood under the streetlight, knowing why Henry wanted her at the villa. What else could a man want with a woman?
Grace arrived at the villa late at night.
A servant greeted her eagerly. "Mrs. Montague, Mr. Montague is upstairs waiting!"
Grace, distracted, didn't correct her. "Is he in the study or living room?"
The servant led her inside. "In the living room. He's been coming home early and skipping social events."
Grace forced a smile. On the second floor, the servant left.
Grace opened the bedroom door. The living room was brightly lit. Henry, in a black silk robe, lounged on the sofa reading, looking relaxed and sexy.
Hearing the door, he put down the magazine, his gaze lingering on her.
He looked at her waist for a few extra seconds.
Guessing she had been at Amara's banquet, he said gently, "Had some drinks? I'll have the servant make you hangover soup."
Grace cut him off, "Henry, I'm not here for affection. We don't have any. Did you have anything to do with Oliver's case being postponed?"
Henry's blue eyes stared at her, making her uneasy.
After a while, he sneered. "You think I have that much power? Former Mrs. Montague, you overestimate me!"
Grace's eyes narrowed. "It wasn't you?"
Henry sat up and handed her a document from the table. "It's probably because of this. They're thinking of merging the cases but the authorities are struggling to find the incriminating evidence, causing a setback."
Grace hesitated but took the document. After reading a few lines, she froze.
These were project documents Nathan had signed before the Windsor Group went bankrupt. Several projects were put on hold, causing a stir in the media. If this got out, Nathan would be in prison for life.
Grace's face went pale.
Henry took the document back and lit it with a lighter. "Nathan was misled and signed those by mistake. This is the only original copy. Now it's gone, and the delay won't change the outcome of Oliver's case."
The document turned to ashes in his hand.
Grace was stunned. She knew this was a big favor from Henry, but it wasn't for free. She asked softly, "Henry, what do you want in return?"
Henry got the hint.
He tossed the ashes, leaned back, and looked at her. "If I want to sleep with you, would you agree?"
Grace's lips trembled. After a moment, she unzipped her dress, letting it fall to the floor, revealing her trembling legs.
She couldn't forget that night in the study, how rough Henry had been.
Grace choked up. "Henry, let's be clear; we're just having sex, and you must use a condom."
Henry touched her waist, making her shiver.
He looked up, his voice hoarse. "Still thinking about that night? Grace, I don't mind doing it for you; it's normal for a couple."
She felt embarrassed and turned away.
Henry gently pulled her onto his lap. Surprisingly, he helped her put her dress back on.
As he let her go, he whispered, "I want to, but I don't want you unhappy. Grace, give me a chance, let me make you happy. Remember the hospital? You enjoyed it; you wanted me more than I wanted you."
He was trying to seduce her, to get her back, to remarry her. Grace knew it.
Sitting on his lap, she felt his excitement and his restrained breathing.
Grace lowered her eyes, her voice soft. "Henry, if you want, let's have sex. That's all I can give you now. I'm past playing love games. I'm not one of those women you fool around with."
"What women?" Henry grabbed her waist, pressing her against him.
Grace gasped at the heat, then looked up at him, unable to look away.
Henry's eyes were filled with desire.
