Chapter 219 She Knows How to Handle Him
Taylor noticed Anouk's intentions towards her father, so in her excitement, she suddenly exclaimed "Daddy," before pushing Henry's wheelchair to demonstrate their relationship.Sherry bounced down the steps, wagging her little tail like a happy flower, and circled around Taylor.
Henry knew exactly what was on Taylor's mind.
He chuckled and handed Sherry over, "Here, play with Sherry for a bit!"
Taylor took the puppy and then wrapped her arms around Henry's neck. She looked at Anouk and said, "Hey, could you give me a push too?"
Anouk was caught off guard. Sure, she could push her, but Taylor was a handful, always tricky.
Anouk smiled out of habit. "Yeah, but if you press on Mr. Montague like that, he'll be uncomfortable."
Henry couldn't stand seeing Taylor upset and was about to scold Anouk.
Taylor, feeling bad for Henry, quickly climbed down, holding Sherry. "Daddy, I'll just walk with you! When I get tired, Avery will come and keep you company, so you will always have one of us with you."
Henry didn't head upstairs. He went into the hall and, with Anouk's help, sat on the sofa.
When he was sitting, he looked perfectly normal, still mature and handsome.
Anouk fetched the medicine and water. When she turned back, she caught a glimpse of Henry's profile. She stared for a few seconds, then snapped back to her usual attentive self. She put down the medicine and water cup and started massaging Henry's legs. She spoke softly, "Mr. Montague, how are you feeling? Did your legs feel uncomfortable after going out today?"
Henry wasn't really in the mood for her massage.
And then, the sound of a car came from outside. It must be Grace bringing Avery over. He lowered his eyes and said indifferently, "It's fine."
Anouk smiled encouragingly. "You'll get better one day if you keep up with your rehab."
Anouk was from the Montague Group Hospital's rehab center.
Three months ago, the hospital decided to send someone to be Henry's private nurse. The requirements were super high, and they also wanted someone beautiful, which led to some misunderstandings; but a lot of medical staff still signed up.
Anouk stood out among more than a hundred people.
At first, Anouk thought she had a special job, but after three months, Henry treated her indifferently, like a perfect gentleman.
Anouk was relieved but also a bit disappointed.
Wasn't Henry looking for a woman to keep him company?
Anouk was lost in thought when footsteps came from the entrance. Taylor ran over with Sherry in her arms, calling out "Mom," then hugged Grace and looked at Anouk.
Grace also saw the beautiful Anouk, half-kneeling beside Henry, massaging him.
Anouk's chest seemed to brush against Henry's trouser leg. She figured the scene was even more intriguing from Henry's perspective.
Was this Henry's gift to Grace? A beautiful female doctor, Anouk, to scare her away?
The old Grace would have cared, but the current her could stay calm. She understood Henry and knew how to handle him.
Henry had a weakness: he loved Grace and the kids.
Grace gently touched Taylor, silently comforting her. She then said, "Take Avery to get some fruit; he's a bit hungry."
Taylor immediately took Avery to the kitchen.
After the kids left, Grace looked at Anouk again.
Anouk had been at Montague Group Hospital for just a couple of years, primarily working in the rehab center, so she hadn't crossed paths with Grace before. This was their first real meet-up.
In the late summer heat, Grace rocked a chic dress, looking all intellectual and elegant with her slender figure.
Women always size each other up. Anouk checked out Grace and felt a bit uneasy. For a mom of two, Grace was stunningly beautiful and slim, with that classy vibe.
Anouk's discomfort showed a bit on her face. She extended her hand and said, with a hint of sass, "Hey, Mrs. Montague. I'm Anouk, Mr. Montague's private nurse, and I live in the villa now."
Grace shook her hand and smiled lightly. "Just call me Ms. Windsor. I'm Mr. Montague's ex-wife, and I have a new lover now! But we'll still see each other often because Mr. Montague and I co-parent our two kids. There are many things in the villa that Henry can't handle alone. As his ex-wife, I'll take care of some things. I hope I won't be a bother, Anouk?"
Anouk could barely keep her cool.
She thought Grace was overstepping. They were divorced, and she had a new boyfriend. Why did she still need to manage Henry's affairs?
Anouk couldn't help but glance at Henry.
But Henry had no intention of backing her up, so she just handed him the pills and water cup, saying gently, "Mr. Montague, it's time for your medicine!"
Her actions were intimate, and Henry didn't object.
But Grace calmly said, "Hold up!"
Grace took the pills and looked at them, then said, "I spoke with Lucas, and he mentioned Mr. Montague's medication should be taken after meals, not before, or the side effects will be significant. Anouk, you were recommended by the Montague Group Hospital and should be very talented. Why would you make such a basic mistake?"
Anouk, panicking, felt tears welling up.
She quickly put away the pills and hurriedly said, "Sorry, I'll be more careful next time, Ms. Windsor."
Grace didn't scold her further.
She turned to Henry. "I'll go check on the kids."
With no one else around, Henry lightly grasped Grace's arm but let go immediately. He looked into her eyes and softly said, "It's not a big deal. Why make things difficult for her?"
Grace looked at him and softly asked, "Is she your lover?"
Henry neither confirmed nor denied it.
Grace smiled, not very concerned, and said, "If she is your lover, I won't say anything more! Henry, don't worry, I'm not jealous! I clearly remember that there's nothing between us anymore. I'm just an ex-wife and the mother of two children, feeling a sense of duty to watch out for your well-being."
Her smile faded, and she continued bluntly, "Partly out of guilt, and partly because I don't want to take over the Montague Group. If you're well, it saves me a lot of trouble!"
Henry was furious with Grace. He wanted to grab her hand, but she dodged. She looked at him and softly said, "Henry, we must keep our distance. What happened last time won't happen again, or Owen will be upset."
Grace lightly flicked her long hair and walked towards the entrance.
Her back was slender, with a perfect waist-to-hip ratio, swaying gently as she walked. Her every movement exuded the charm of a mature woman.
Just watching her, Henry felt a bit captivated.
