Chapter 321 This Was the Last Birthday Sarah Celebrated for Jacob

In the end, Oliver got what he wanted.

Morning light slipped through the sheer curtains, gently lighting up the bedroom.

On the white bed, Sarah lay on her back, looking blank, while Oliver, who hadn't felt this kind of warmth in ages, was lost in the moment, unusually gentle.

Sarah's phone kept buzzing with Facebook notifications beside the pillow.

As she endured Oliver, she trembled and reached for the phone, but her movement only excited him more, making everything more intense.

Oliver knocked the phone away, stopping her from looking at it. His breath was hot, "Focus!"

Sarah felt nothing. She was a woman on the edge, with a cheating husband. How could she feel anything? She just tried to endure the moment, avoiding pain and discomfort.

Oliver was enjoying himself, but Sarah was detached. Her face rubbed against the white sheets, tears slipping from her eyes. She glanced at the phone on the floor and finally reached for it again.

Despite his forceful actions, she managed to open the phone with trembling hands. It was a Facebook message from someone she didn't know, with several videos.

With a casual tap, an intimate scene played out—it was Oliver and Ellie, three days and nights together.

Sarah blinked. Suspecting, hearing, and knowing were different from seeing it with her own eyes. Even though she had already imagined their affair, seeing it now made her sick.

She didn't know where she found the strength, but she pushed him away forcefully. When she ran to the bathroom and retched violently, Oliver saw the video. He didn't need to think to know who had sent it. He roughly understood Ellie's intention—it was nothing more than to provoke Sarah and prove her place in his heart.

Maybe Oliver didn't care if Sarah knew about their relationship. But he wouldn't allow Ellie to challenge his authority. Men were often like this, so Oliver was very angry. He held the phone, deleted the videos, and then blocked that Facebook account.

The lovemaking ended unpleasantly.

Oliver wiped himself off casually, got up, and dressed. He walked to the bathroom door.

Sarah was bent over, very thin, her shoulder blades looking so fragile.

Oliver came up behind her, raised his hand as if to touch her, but then let it fall. His voice was hoarse, "This won't happen again. She won't have another chance to bother you."

Sarah remained motionless for a long time. After a while, she murmured softly, "Oliver, let me go, please. Let me take Jacob with me!"

Her voice was broken, filled with pleading. Being with him, she had long lost her dignity. Her feelings and her life had been shattered by him. He was too filthy.

Sarah wanted to take Jacob away. She wanted to entrust Jacob to Dylan's care. She was afraid that after her death, Jacob would fall into the hands of someone like Ellie.

Oliver, who stood behind her, was unmoved.

Sarah turned around, abandoning her dignity, and tried to negotiate with him.

She even half-knelt, clutching his leg, crying softly, "Then I'll stay, but let Jacob go to Dylan for care. Or maybe Grace would be willing to take care of Jacob. I heard from Olivia that she likes Jacob a lot. She often came to see him when I wasn't around."

Sarah didn't care about herself anymore. All she wanted was to find a good home for Jacob.

Oliver's heart was filled with hatred, leaving no room for love. Otherwise, how could they have ended up like this? How could he have done such absurd things with Ellie?

Sarah's face was covered in tears. Today was Jacob's birthday. She was supposed to be celebrating with him now.

Despite Sarah's pleas, Oliver remained unmoved. He reached out, gently touched her tear-streaked face, and looked down at her, saying, "Jacob is my son!"

Sarah was stunned, collapsing to the ground. Oliver left. Sarah remained kneeling on the bathroom tiles, unable to get up for a long time. She was dazed and lost. She had almost forgotten what it felt like to love Oliver. The girlish feelings she had when they first met were almost entirely forgotten. Loving him was her biggest mistake, but it would soon be over. She only thought of her son Jacob.

Jacob woke up, calling for her, sweet and adorable.

Sarah leaned against the doorframe to get up. She washed her face quickly and, while changing clothes, hoarsely comforted him, "I'll be right there!"

Jacob sat there in his little cow-print pajamas.

Sarah walked over, smiling gently, and hugged Jacob, giving him a kiss. "My sweetie, today is your birthday! You have to be happy all day long."

Jacob hugged Sarah and kissed her back. Jacob loved his mother, too.

Half an hour later, Sarah carried Jacob downstairs. Today was Jacob's birthday, and the servants had been waiting downstairs early, each with a birthday gift for Jacob.

"Jacob looks so handsome today!"

"Jacob, have a bite of the little cake. Happy birthday!"

The servants said many things, making a lively scene. Only Olivia, with a smile on her face, quietly wiped away tears.

Just now, when Sarah went upstairs, there was some noise later, and then Oliver came down with a sullen face. Olivia knew that Sarah must have suffered again.

Oliver was unfaithful, and Sarah knew it, but she never asked. Olivia could see that Sarah no longer loved Oliver. She used to love him very much. Olivia had seen that love slowly disappear, ground to dust over the long years, scattered in the wind, leaving no trace behind.

Olivia also gave Jacob a gift. It was a pair of knitted gloves, very beautiful, so Sarah could do a little less work.

As time went on, Olivia felt increasingly uneasy. She always felt that Sarah was hiding something from her, and from Oliver. She wanted to ask, but Sarah just smiled serenely and said, "Today is Jacob's birthday. He has to be happy all day long."

Olivia didn't know that this was the last birthday Sarah would celebrate with Jacob.

Next year, Jacob would be without his mommy. Who would prepare his birthday for him? Who would knit him scarves? Who would hold him and stand by the tulips in spring, marveling at the beauty of life?
