Chapter 97 Did you Hire a Psychologist to Deal with Me? [1]
Grace went to the hospital to pick up Juniper.
As soon as the car stopped, someone opened the door. Grace was surprised to see Frank standing there in the light snow, looking pretty down.
Seeing Frank again, Grace felt conflicted and stayed quiet in the car.
Finally, Frank spoke up, "Grace, can we talk?"
In a nearby café, Grace stared at the snow outside, absentmindedly stirring her coffee.
Frank broke the silence, "How is she?"
Grace snapped back and looked at him. He was dressed sharply but held a pack of cigarettes, looking a bit restless.
Grace took a sip of her coffee and said softly, "Every time Juniper and I had coffee, she'd complain it was too bitter but still finish it because she didn't want to waste it. She said it was bought with money."
Grace continued, "When she was with you, she seemed to live lavishly, spending money generously. However, the truth was that she quietly contributed a significant amount to shelters, helping homeless kids. Having been homeless herself, she wanted to help others."
Grace's eyes got misty, and her voice choked up. "She said she wouldn't donate the $8 million you gave her because she might need it for retirement."
She looked at Frank. "Now, you've made her suffer again, and you ask if she's okay? How could she be? Frank, tell me, how can she be okay after losing her hearing?"
Frank stayed silent for a long time.
As the coffee got cold, Grace stood up to leave.
With her back to Frank, she said softly, "Ten years ago, I took her in, and now, I won't abandon her!"
Frank's eyes stung, and he almost trembled as he said thank you.
Grace didn't need his thanks; she just wondered if this was the end for Juniper and Frank. From now on, Juniper would live an ordinary life, while Frank might take over the Cavendish family. Years later, he might remember Juniper, but it would just be a memory.
Grace felt sad for Juniper.
When she reached the hospital room, Juniper was ready to be discharged.
Grace wanted to hide the truth, but Juniper noticed something was off. She asked softly, "Did he come to see you?"
Grace replied softly, "Yes."
Juniper didn't ask more. What was the point? Frank had already given her an $8 million check; their relationship was over.
But downstairs at the hospital, they still met.
Separated by a street, Frank stood quietly, smoking. He looked deeply at Juniper, and she remembered they rarely met outside like this, except in bed.
This rare meeting was a final farewell.
As Juniper got in the car, her hearing aid caught the sunlight. Frank felt a pang of discomfort and quickly looked away.
How could he forget how much Juniper loved looking beautiful?
As the car started, Grace gently held Juniper's hand.
Juniper's lips trembled, and she said softly, "It's all in the past! Grace, I'm fine!" But she still cried.
The years with Frank were thrilling and dangerous. She never thought about marrying into the Cavendish family, but sometimes, waking up in his arms, she had once gazed at his handsome face in a daze.
Grace took her home and stayed with her most of the day.
In the evening, Owen called Grace, saying Gavin had decided she would play the first piece for the concert in half a month. Harmony City needed her for a rehearsal.
Owen grinned. "The market response has been fantastic. Last night's show in Harmony City sold out."
Grace was surprised. She thought for a moment and said, "How about leaving tomorrow morning?"
Owen couldn't resist teasing her a bit.
Juniper was happy for her. After Grace hung up, she said, "I'm fine now! Grace, focus on your career, and thank Henry for me!"
She hugged Grace gently and whispered, "He treats you well, so live a good life! Forget about the past."
Grace's voice was a bit hoarse. "I know!"
They separated, smiling through their tears.
It felt like old times.
Grace went downstairs and got into the car.
The driver noticed her good mood and asked, "Mrs. Montague, heading back to the villa now?"
Grace leaned back in the seat and booked a flight to Harmony City for the next morning on her phone. She also sent Henry a message on Facebook: [Come home early tonight, I have something to tell you.]
After sending the message, she smiled sweetly. She didn't snap out of it until the driver asked again. She replied softly, "To Skyline Tower! I need to buy something."
The day after tomorrow was Henry's birthday.
Since she would be flying to Harmony City the next morning and couldn't celebrate with him, she thought a gift might cheer him up.
Grace spent half an hour picking out a pair of exquisite cufflinks for Henry. They cost $30,000, a bit pricey!
When she returned to the villa, it was already 7 P.M.
Henry hadn't come back yet, but he had replied on Facebook, saying he'd be late and that she should eat first.
Grace wasn't very hungry. She took a bath, played with Sherry for a while, and when Sherry snuggled into her arms, Grace's cheeks turned a faint pink.
After the bath, she put on a black silk robe. The soft fabric clung to her skin, looking very seductive.
They had been married for years, and she had never dressed like this to seduce Henry. On one hand, his needs were so great that she didn't need to; on the other hand, their relationship wasn't good enough for her to feel comfortable doing so.
Grace's face was flushed. She thought that dressing like this was somewhat to please him. When she loved Henry deeply, she naturally wanted to make him happy, and she knew Henry's preferences in this regard.
She waited for a long time, but Henry didn't come back.
Eventually, she fell asleep, and Sherry, tired, snuggled on her chest, snoring softly. They both slept soundly.
In the middle of the night, the phone in the study rang, breaking the silence.
Grace woke up! But Henry still hadn't come home.
Half-awake, she looked out the floor-to-ceiling window. Snowflakes were dancing in the night; it was snowing again.
The phone in the study rang again.
Grace thought it was Henry calling, so she took Sherry to the study to answer it. As she opened the study door, the phone stopped ringing.
Grace turned on the wall lamp, and the light illuminated everything.
Henry's desk was very tidy, with only a few scattered documents. Grace had a habit of organizing, so she went over to tidy up. But when her fingers touched the papers, her eyes paused, and the color drained from her face.
It was a psychological report on her! And the client was Henry! The husband that she was trying to please in her seductive robe!
Henry had hired a psychologist to deal with her, and the report detailed everything that had happened between them recently. What they had done, to what extent, her every physical reaction, even their intimate encounter in the hospital room, was described in detail!
The thin paper slipped from her fingers.
It fell lightly, but Grace seemed to hear the sound of her heart shattering.
In the hallway outside, the familiar sound of footsteps approached—undeniably Henry's.
Moments later, Henry stood at the study door. He saw Grace standing there, and he saw the scattered papers on the floor—the psychological report and the bills he had forgotten to put away.
