Chapter 112 Henry Felt Lonely

Soon, the New Year's Day approached.

During dinner, Clara prepared a table full of dishes and asked Grace to invite Juniper over. "She has no one to turn to now, so we can have her over often."

Grace sneaked a bite of the food. "I've already called her!"

Clara shot her a look and tapped her hand. "Wait and eat together! So greedy!"

Grace just laughed.

Seeing Grace in good spirits, Clara was about to say something when there was a knock at the door.

When she opened it, there was Juniper!

Juniper was carrying several bags. Besides supplements for Nathan and Clara, she also bought Grace a luxury brand scarf. Grace loved the pattern but still said, "Such a waste of money!"

Juniper wrapped it around her. "It looks great! Really suits your skin!"

Grace had also prepared a gift for her, a limited edition handbag. Juniper was overjoyed and kept exclaiming, "You are the one to talk! This bag must be fifty or sixty thousand dollars!"

Grace teased, "Don't like it? I'll return it then."

Juniper wouldn't have it. "Once it's given to me, it's mine!"

Clara was happy to see them joking around and went to call Nathan for dinner. Nathan had been in good health recently and also gave Juniper a gift when he came out.

Juniper felt a bit embarrassed. "I'm getting so many gifts and food!"

Grace pushed the dishes towards her. "You're family here!"

Juniper's eyes welled up with tears, but she held them back and nodded.

Nathan didn't talk much, but he also pushed some delicious dishes towards Juniper. "You look even thinner than Grace! Come over more often, it's just one more person at the table."

Juniper looked at Grace and smiled.

Grace smiled back. Both girls had been through a lot, and being together now brought a mix of emotions. Clara added, "In a month or two, Oliver will be back, and the family will be complete."

The mention of Oliver gave Nathan a hearty appetite.

Nathan had come from a wealthy background but was now very content. Grace had wanted to get them a bigger house, but he thought their current place was fine. He wanted Grace to keep her money for herself, and as for Oliver, he could fend for himself in the future.

The house was lively, and Juniper asked Grace about her plans.

Grace thought for a moment and said, "I want to open a dessert shop and hopefully turn it into a chain."

Juniper agreed enthusiastically, "The little treats you make are delicious; you'll definitely succeed!"

As they chatted, Clara couldn't help but show some concern.

Grace said, "Amara has experience in the food industry. I plan to meet her for some advice!"

Clara served her some soup, pleased. "Amara is great! It's rare for her to help others! Grace, you're doing well; you should also help Juniper."

Grace smiled lightly. "Of course!"

Suddenly, there was the sound of a dog barking at the door.

Clara didn't notice Grace's reaction and went to open the door, puzzled. "Where's that barking coming from?"

When she opened the door, a little fluffy white dog, Sherry, came bouncing in!

Clara was stunned for a moment and then understood. "Did he send it?"

It was obvious who "he" referred to.

Grace walked over silently and picked up the dog. Sherry still recognized her and nuzzled into her arms, the soft touch making Grace's heart ache.

Juniper also understood and exclaimed, "What's Henry's deal? They're divorced, and he still sends his dog over! Why doesn't he find a new owner for the dog?"

Grace looked at the door, where Sherry's toys and food were packed in a small box.

Henry didn't want Sherry anymore.

Grace brought the things inside and said softly, "He's landed a big project and is feeling triumphant, so he won't bother us! I'll take care of her from now on."

Sherry looked at her with big, dark eyes, then buried her head in her arms, looking very attached.

Juniper remarked, "They've grown attached!"

Just then, Grace's phone rang. It was obvious it was Henry calling.

Grace went to the balcony to take the call.

When she answered, she heard the sound of the wind and Henry's light breathing. After a long silence, Henry spoke softly, "Grace, I hope you're happy."

Grace had been hurt and hadn't fully healed. But she maintained her composure. "I hope you're happy too!"

She paused and said, "I can take care of Sherry! But you can't come to see her, and I won't send you pictures. You gave her up, so she's my dog now."

Henry's voice was hoarse. "I didn't give her up!"

His voice grew deeper. "I just thought she'd be better off with her mom."

"Henry!" Grace looked at the distant scenery, her voice light and ethereal. "Don't call me again, and don't say these ambiguous things! Henry, we're divorced!"

Grace didn't hesitate and hung up the phone. Her heart still ached.

That marriage had left scars in her heart, just like her arm that ached on rainy days. How could she easily let go?

A black Bentley was parked downstairs at the Windsor villa.

Henry, wearing a black wool coat, leaned against the car, a white cigarette between his long fingers.

He tilted his head slightly, smoking, the pale gray smoke drifting into the night sky.

Henry had come here just to see her, to hear her voice.

Henry looked towards the balcony, but Grace was no longer there.

Grace returned to the living room.

Juniper was holding Sherry, pretending not to have heard the phone call. Clara gently patted her shoulder. "Let's continue eating! Make more friends and relax in the future!"

Grace nodded.

From that day on, she didn't see Henry for a long time!

As Juniper put it, Evergreen City had six-lane streets, and you wouldn't run into someone unless you planned it.

Grace arranged to have dinner with Amara, who owned a successful private restaurant. She wanted to consult Amara!

Since Grace organized the dinner, she arrived first.

But Grace didn't expect to run into Henry. He was dining with a mature, elegant woman. From their demeanor, it didn't look like a business meeting; it seemed more like a personal date.

Grace didn't deliberately avoid them. After all, in the same city, they were bound to run into each other occasionally.

When she entered, Henry saw her. He was wearing a white shirt, and his eyes looked particularly handsome under the light.

He called her name, "Grace!"

Grace nodded at them and replied calmly, "Mr. Montague!"
