Chapter 148 Grace Gives Birth to Taylor in Pain [1]
Grace was in agony, feeling like she couldn't breathe and might die any second. But she refused to give up; she was carrying Taylor, her unborn child.
Taylor was 8 months along and hadn't seen the world yet.
Grace despised Henry's coldness but loved the baby inside her. She was determined to survive for her child's sake.
She couldn't die! She had to live!
Grace took deep breaths, trying to ease the pain from the contractions. She tilted her head back and screamed, "Help, help my child."
No one heard her cries.
Grace dragged herself across the floor, enduring the pain, and crawled toward the bedroom door. "Help, someone, please help me, save my child."
Blood trailed from the floor to the stairs.
More blood gushed out between her legs, staining the luxurious staircase.
Henry used to whisper sweet nothings to her on those stairs, but now he was abroad, leaving her to face the pain of losing her father and giving birth alone.
Grace's blood and tears mingled as she collapsed in a pool of blood, finally discovered by a servant.
Two drops of blood fell on the servant's hand. She looked up and screamed, "Mrs. Montague!"
Grace lay on the stairs, her white silk nightgown soaked in blood. Her body twitched from the blood loss.
The villa erupted in chaos. Servants screamed for the driver and called Henry, but his phone was off.
Henry was in Swiizarland, attending Elodie's funeral.
At the Montague Group's hospital.
Outside the delivery room, doctors and nurses rushed in and out, and every time the door opened, the smell of blood filled the air.
Aurora sat on a bench, expressionless.
She had called Henry, but his phone was off, and even Celeste couldn't be reached! It was infuriating!
No matter what, Grace was his wife, and at a time like this, he was mourning Elodie.
The delivery room door opened again, and a doctor rushed out.
Aurora quickly stood up. "How is she?"
The doctor removed his mask and said, "We've given her blood, but it's still not good! Her body can't handle a C-section, and she's too weak for a natural birth! Mrs. Aurora Montague, we might only be able to save one: the mother or the child!"
Aurora slumped down. No matter how much she disliked Grace, this decision shouldn't be hers. If something happened to either Grace or the child, she wouldn't be able to explain it to Henry.
But now, she had to decide!
Aurora remained silent for a long time before gathering her strength. She softly said, "Save Henry's child!"
As soon as Aurora spoke, her throat was grabbed.
Juniper's hands tightly gripped her throat, her eyes bloodshot as she glared at her.
Juniper's voice was hoarse and angry, "Say that again, and I'll make you regret it! Do you believe I'll kill you right now, you vicious old woman! Henry runs off to another country to see Elodie, and Grace has to risk her life to give him a child. You bastards have no conscience!"
Aurora couldn't breathe, her face turning red and purple! She waved for someone to pull Juniper away.
But Juniper didn't care anymore.
Even if she died right now, she wouldn't let the Montague family hurt Grace again. She just wanted Grace to live!
She shouted, "Anyone who comes near, I'll strangle her!"
"I'll make sure the Montague Group hits the news!"
"I'll ruin Henry's reputation! Aren't you all about saving face? Why aren't you stepping up? Do you even see Grace as a human being?"
In the distance, Frank stood quietly, watching Juniper.
He saw her crazed state, her desperate protection of Grace, and was lost in thought.
After a long time, he walked up to her.
He pulled Juniper off Aurora and held her tightly, preventing her from moving.
Juniper smelled the tobacco on him.
She froze, realizing it was Frank!
Juniper didn't turn around. She softly said to Frank behind her, "Make her save Grace's life. Grace can't die, she can't die! Frank, I'm begging you! Frank, I'll trade my child for this! Please, please?"
Frank held her tightly.
Frank looked at Aurora and said hoarsely, "Save Grace! Otherwise, one day Henry will go mad, and you'll regret it!"
Aurora was stunned! At that moment, Clara ran over from the other end of the hallway, her hair disheveled, stumbling as she ran. She had just lost Nathan.
The delivery room lights were bright. Grace lay on the white sheets, her blonde hair disheveled on the pillow, sweating profusely, her lips bitten to the point of bleeding. Juniper had changed into surgical clothes to accompany her.
Juniper tightly held Grace's hand. "Grace, hold on! Both you and the child have a chance to live!"
Grace was in so much pain she was almost unconscious.
But she knew Juniper was with her. She quietly looked at Juniper, thinking that Juniper must have suffered before coming in.
Tears rolled down from the corners of her eyes.
Juniper wiped them away, choking up, "The baby's position has reversed. The doctor is trying to turn the baby around. Grace, save your strength. We'll deliver the baby soon, okay? Clara is here too. She's waiting for you outside, waiting for the baby to be born!"
Grace's slender throat tightened, and she suddenly cried out in pain, "Dad!"
Juniper cried too, but she kept holding Grace's hand, giving her comfort and strength. Finally, amidst Grace's heart-wrenching cries, the baby successfully turned around.
The doctor said the baby had a good chance.
The doctor whispered in her ear, encouraging her, "The baby is trying hard. She wants to come into this world! Push hard."
Grace was in a daze from the pain, feeling like her body was no longer her own. In the most desperate and painful moment, her body stiffened and pushed something out.
Taylor was born, a small baby crying weakly.
A small, purplish body, tiny feet kicking, a little head looking at the world in confusion.
Grace wanted to hold Taylor, hold her child, but she had no strength left. She collapsed back onto the delivery bed, drenched in sweat.
At that moment, Grace seemed to smell the scent of roses blooming at Tranquil Heights. She seemed to hear Nathan's voice, "Daddy's back. Is Grace happy?"
Meanwhile, Grace also seemed to hear her conversation with Henry.
She said, "Henry, maybe it will take a long time for me to find my love again. Do you still want it?"
Henry softly said he did.
