Chapter 379 It's Not Too Late to Regret

Oliver shot Ellie a cold glance before swinging open the car door. "The road's slippery. Don't want you falling."

He walked off without a second look.

Ellie watched him go, her lips trembling. Finally, she couldn't hold back. "Oliver, you jerk!"

He paused but didn't turn around.

"Didn't you already know? Why'd you stick around? It's not too late to back out now," Oliver said.

Ellie was stunned. She wasn't dumb; she could hear the regret in his voice.

He didn't want to divorce Sarah anymore, and he didn't want to be with Ellie either. He must've gotten tired of her. Last night, when she asked him to come over, he refused.

In front of the servants, she started arguing, "I think it's you who regrets it! Still hung up on her, huh? The snow's about to stop, she's gonna leave, and you can't stand it, can you?"

"Shut up!" Oliver ignored her and walked straight into the hallway.

Ellie's curses followed him.

Before breaking up with Sarah, Oliver had thought life with Ellie wouldn't be great. Realistically, he wouldn't want her anymore, but he didn't expect it to be this bad.

In just two days, Ellie had turned everything upside down.

Oliver walked into the bedroom and slammed the door shut.

He was the master of the house, and the servants didn't dare say much. They just cautiously served Ellie, who was like a ticking time bomb. Life with her was truly awful.

At night, while smoking, Oliver thought that if it weren't for Sarah, he might be able to endure it a bit. At least during these days in Windcrest, he could comfort Ellie, and then he'd go back to Vesper City, leaving her here to do whatever she wanted.

But now, he couldn't stand it.

Late at night, Oliver stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, smoking quietly.

Outside, the moonlight was shining; the snow had stopped.

Tomorrow, Sarah would fly back to Vesper City. The next time they met would probably be to handle the divorce papers.

Oliver knew deep down he regretted it. But he couldn't bring himself to ask Sarah for forgiveness, let alone start over.

'Divorce!' he thought. But he probably wouldn't marry Ellie. Now she was just a lunatic!

In Ellie, he couldn't see a trace of gentleness or tolerance. Every moment with her felt suffocating.

Oliver took a deep drag on his cigarette and exhaled slowly.

Inhaling and exhaling, his chest felt a faint, dull pain.

The next day, Oliver sat by the window all day, staring at the sky. By now, Sarah should be on a plane to Vesper City.

In the evening, a servant knocked on the door. "Mr. Windsor, Ms. Johnson invites you to dinner."

Oliver stayed silent for a few seconds.

Then, he put out his cigarette, opened the door, and walked out.

Ellie had dressed up, with perfect makeup and a stunning strap dress.

After a night of thinking, she had calmed down.

Ellie knew Sarah had left, and Oliver was sad. When he was in a bad mood, she should be gentle. So she played some music, endured the pain in her left leg with a prosthetic, and tenderly invited Oliver to dance.

Oliver wasn't interested. He sat at the head of the dining table and said indifferently, "It's not a special day, why dance?"

Ellie hugged his neck from behind. Her red lips were close to his ear, whispering, "Still thinking about her?"

"You're overthinking it!"

"Then prove it to me!" Ellie said, sitting on Oliver's lap, and gently pulling down one side of her strap in front of the servants, revealing her skin, but Oliver showed no interest.

Oliver frowned, "Stop fooling around, let's eat."

Ellie was a bit angry. She turned his face to force him to look at her body and said, "Oliver, I'm undressed like this, and you don't want to look? You say you don't have feelings for her anymore, but if that's true, why aren't you interested in me?"

Ellie started kissing him wildly, kissing his chin, his high nose bridge, and the sensitive spot behind his ear. She kissed and whispered, "If you don't miss her, prove it to me! Oliver, my body is still always ready for you. Can you feel it? It's trembling for you, waiting for you to possess. We used to do it six times a night. I've never seen a man like you, who could make love tirelessly."

She kissed him wildly, and Oliver pushed her away.

The atmosphere froze, and Ellie was tearful, "You despise me, don't you? You despise me because I'm disabled, don't you? But Oliver, have you thought about who made me like this? It was that bitch! I want to kill that bitch!"

She kept calling Sarah a bitch, wanting to go after her.

Oliver, in a fit of rage, slapped her hard, loud and clear.

Ellie was furious, overturning wine glasses and plates, making a mess.

Oliver completely ignored her. He got up to leave, but as he stood up, his gaze froze.

On the table was a newspaper with a piece of news about the latest auction information. There was a pink diamond ring that sold for $4 million.

That ring was the one he gave Sarah. A few days ago, she said that she lost it.
