Chapter 250 Come Back to Me, Be My Wife Again
At that moment, Grace broke down in tears.
She was in his arms, leaning on his shoulder. Her delicate face pressed against his black wool coat, looking so fragile.
Henry held her waist tightly.
Grace's slight frame was pressed against Henry's solid body, clinging to him like a vine to a tree.
Her tears soaked his shirt collar, making it wet and uncomfortable, but he didn't care. All he wanted was to hold her close.
It had been way too long since they had hugged like this.
It had also been way too long since they had enjoyed the bittersweet sunlight together.
Henry looked down at the woman in his arms.
His voice was rough but gentle. "Grace, come back to me. Be my wife again"
Grace held him tighter. She didn't say a word, just shook her head desperately, tears streaming down her face. She cried silently, holding back so much.
For too many days and nights, she had feared he would fall into despair. Now he had risen! But at this moment, Grace's feelings were too complicated to just be happy; she was overwhelmed!
Henry called her name, but she didn't respond. She was crying, her whole body trembling; she didn't know how to face him.
She didn't know how to face a healed Henry.
The sunlight was perfect, and she held him tightly. In this moment, they weren't a divorced couple, they weren't just the parents of two kids. It felt like they had gone back to that summer night when she was 18.
Henry had been so firm, telling her not to like him!
But now, Henry was holding her, gently saying, "Grace, come back to me. Be my wife again."
After a long time, Grace finally calmed down.
Her nose was red, her lips trembling, but still pressed against his warm neck, her voice barely a whisper. "Henry, I just can't love anymore! You're fine now, you can..."
His hand on her waist suddenly tightened, almost painfully.
Grace looked up into his eyes, his blue eyes were deep, holding something she couldn't understand.
After a while, Henry softly said, "I don't want anyone else!"
Then he kissed her.
Henry was so tall, she was completely enveloped in his arms. The intense, deep kiss made her body tremble, her legs weak, she could only cling to him.
In her slender palm, she felt his racing heartbeat.
After a long time, Grace came to her senses and pushed him away forcefully.
She stood a step away from him, her eyes filled with pain and unresolved feelings. She said softly again, "Henry, let's just leave it at that!"
Henry looked at her calmly and asked, "What about the kids? Do you want them to have another stepfather, and then another stepmother?"
Grace blinked slowly. "Henry, feelings shouldn't be built on other factors! Even if we're not together, we can still co-parent the kids. Having new relationships doesn't mean they'll be mistreated. Besides, wasn't it you who told me to leave? Henry, I don't want to blame anyone, but our relationship has run its course. I don't want to be in your world, coming and going without a place to truly belong."
Tears welled up in Grace's eyes. The earlier tears were of surprise, and now they were of sorrow.
Henry's gaze was intense, but he didn't push her. Instead, he gently pulled her into his arms, filling her world with his scent.
Finally, he softly coaxed her, "Grace, can I date you again? Until you're ready to come back and be my wife."
Neil, the kids, and the household staff had already noticed Henry's recovery, so it was a pleasant surprise.
Lunch that day was especially lavish.
After the meal, Neil found an excuse to leave first.
Grace watched him go thoughtfully, then headed to the kitchen for a bottle of water. Just as she opened the fridge, a male hand reached in and grabbed the water for her.
She looked up and saw Henry, his gaze just as thoughtful.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked.
Grace didn't want to get into a deep conversation, so she shook her head lightly. "Nothing."
She turned to leave.
Henry caught her, slowly pulling her closer. But since the kitchen was busy, he didn't go too far. He looked into her eyes and said softly, "Don't you think it's a good time to share your thoughts?"
Grace replied, "It's only suitable for talking about the kids."
"What about us?" Henry looked at her directly, his words blunt and clear.
Even though she knew Henry was doing it on purpose, Grace couldn't help but blush. She took the water from his hand, opened it, and took a sip. "Have the nanny pack the kids' things. I'm taking them back."
Henry frowned. "So soon? They've only been here a few days."
He wanted more time with her and the kids, so he tried to keep her. "Grace, stay here. I'll bring Clara over too."
Grace refused. She slowly capped the water bottle and smiled faintly. "It's not appropriate. If you want to see the kids, you can bring them over for a visit, or you can come see them."
She paused, her gaze falling on his legs. "You're quite able to get around now."
Henry wanted to say more, but she placed the bottled water in his hand and said decisively, "That's settled."
As she was leaving, he called her name softly, "Grace!"
But he couldn't stop her.
Grace went to the living room and asked the nanny to help pack the kids' things. The nanny, who was very kind to her, couldn't help but say, "Mrs. Montague, the kids don't want to leave Mr. Montague just yet! Besides, it's rare for the house to be this lively."
At that moment, Taylor came in with Avery, followed by Sherry and two puppies.
Taylor looked up at her. "Mommy, I want to take the dogs to play in the greenhouse for a while!"
Grace was very indulgent with the kids. She squatted down, patted Taylor's little head, thought for a moment, and said, "Then you and Avery stay for a few more days, okay? I'll come to pick you up later."
Taylor was very happy, leading Avery and the dogs away.
Grace shook her head lightly. She grabbed her coat and luggage and got into her silver Rolls-Royce. Just as she was about to start the car, the phone in the glove compartment rang. She picked it up and saw it was the nanny calling.
The nanny said Clara had accidentally fallen and broken a bone; Clara was now in the hospital.
Grace asked a few simple questions, made sure everything was okay, gave a few instructions, and then drove straight to the hospital.
