Chapter 187 Finally, She Cried Uncontrollably in His Arms
Celeste was feeling down. She wanted to cheer him up but had no clue where to start.
Time doesn't fix everything. Some wounds are like hidden thorns; they don't show, but they're festering inside.
Henry told Celeste to leave first, saying he needed some alone time.
Once the office was empty, he lit a cigarette with shaky hands but quickly put it out.
He thought about the past, remembering when Grace had cried and said, "Henry, you don't know how to love!"
Yeah, back then, Henry didn't know how to love. Power was his thing; women and kids were just accessories, whims he indulged in.
But now, Henry got it. He knew she had someone else, but he still made the will, leaving the whole Montague Group to her in case something happened to him.
He was prepared to give his life, his fortune, everything, to ensure Taylor's safety.
Around noon, Henry headed back to the hospital. As soon as he opened the door, he saw Juniper there and she was playing with Taylor.
Taylor was happy at first, but when she saw Henry, her little face scrunched up, and her big eyes filled with tears. She pitifully called out, "Daddy."
Taylor stretched out her little arm to show Henry.
On her tiny hand, there were two little needle marks, and Taylor looked so upset.
Henry's heart ached like crazy. He picked Taylor up and held her close, rubbing and kissing her hand. "Does it still hurt?"
Taylor hugged his neck and lay there quietly, clearly wanting Henry to hold her.
Henry's throat tightened, and his heart felt heavy.
Grace walked in and saw this scene. Her eyes were slightly red, showing she had been crying for a long time.
Henry gently held her hand. Grace tried to pull away but couldn't because Henry held on tight.
Given Taylor's illness, they put aside all their past issues.
Juniper quietly left. Even now, she held Henry responsible, holding him accountable for his past ruthlessness!
But Taylor needed Henry's company, and Grace needed to have another child. No matter how much Juniper hated Henry, she had to swallow her anger. But she felt it was unfair to Grace.
Juniper couldn't even imagine how much courage it took for Grace to let go of the past and lie in Henry's bed again.
The room was super quiet.
Taylor clung to Henry for a while. Henry patted her little bottom and told her to go play.
When it was just Henry and Grace left, Henry looked at Grace and said softly, "Move in with me. There will be more people to take care of her."
Before Grace could refuse, Henry added, "Don't worry! Once she's better, you can leave with her anytime. Grace, I mean it."
Henry thought Grace would at least think about it.
Surprisingly, Grace agreed right away. She said, "Okay."
Grace walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, her voice faint and sad. "She likes you a lot. Besides, I don't want to get a call from the nanny again saying Taylor is sick when I'm with you at the hotel. It makes me feel guilty."
Grace couldn't help but choke up.
Henry walked over, put his hands on her thin shoulders, and softly called her name, "Grace!"
Grace didn't want him to see her all vulnerable. She turned away, but Henry gently but firmly pulled her into his arms.
After a while, his shirt was soaked with Grace's tears.
After years apart, Grace finally broke down. She cried uncontrollably in the arms of the man she had loved and hated, showing all her vulnerability without holding back.
Henry held Grace tightly, just embracing her and giving her support.
At that moment, he was even willing to give his life. He whispered in her ear, calling her Grace, telling her not to cry, saying her tears were breaking his heart.
Taylor, playing with a small ball, ran over and saw them hugging.
Grace swiftly pushed Henry aside. Turning her back to him, she attempted to compose herself and uttered hoarsely, "I'm sorry! I lost control!"
Henry got Grace's pride. He picked up Taylor and said gently, "I'll play with her for a while. You pack up; we'll move back to Tranquil Heights this afternoon, okay?"
Grace nodded almost imperceptibly.
Henry wanted to say more, but with Taylor there, it wasn't the right time.
In the evening, the sky was filled with colorful clouds.
A black car slowly drove into Tranquil Heights and stopped in front of the villa.
As soon as Taylor got out of the car, she saw a snow-white puppy, Sherry.
Sherry circled around Taylor.
Taylor was over the moon and clung to Henry's leg, saying, "Daddy, I want this puppy!"
Henry bent down, picked up Sherry, and placed her in Taylor's arms. He smiled gently. "Her name is Sherry."
Taylor held the puppy carefully, afraid of dropping her. Henry turned to Grace and said, "I asked the doctor. Her condition allows for having a puppy, so don't worry."
Henry had once studied medicine, and Grace knew he was sensible. She didn't say anything, just quietly watched the sunset.
Henry couldn't help but gently hug her shoulder.
Grace's body stiffened slightly. She was a woman, and she understood Henry's feelings for her. She thought for a moment and then said, "Henry, we're only together temporarily for Taylor. It doesn't mean..."
Henry didn't let Grace finish. He said softly, "I know."
He seemed indifferent, but his heart was filled with disappointment.
At night, Taylor fell asleep after playing, with the puppy nestled beside her, creating a very warm scene.
Grace watched for a long time before taking her pajamas to shower. When she came out of the bathroom, she found Henry had returned to the room, still wearing his shirt and trousers, looking like he had just finished work.
Under the soft light, he sat by the bed, gently stroking Taylor's face. His eyes were filled with fatherly tenderness.
Grace walked over and said softly, "You should take a shower first. I'll watch her."
A simple, ordinary sentence made Henry's eyes turn red.
He thought of the past, of when they were still married, and how considerate she had always been.
Suddenly, Henry grabbed Grace's hand and asked in a low voice, "Is today still your fertile period?"
