Chapter 375 Sarah, Take Good Care of Yourself

Oliver wanted to say something, but he just couldn't get the words out.

After what felt like forever, he finally managed, "Let's wait until the snow stops before we leave. Think of it as a break. Don't worry, I'll be out by dawn. As for the divorce, we'll handle the paperwork back in Vesper City. Jacob will stay with you. And make sure to take good care of Nicole too."

Oliver was a mess of emotions. He knew this was a rushed decision, and if he thought about it too much, he wouldn't be able to let go. But Sarah wanted her freedom. She didn't want to be by his side anymore.

He hugged her one last time, not with the same passion as before, but like a husband giving his wife a final embrace.

After today, they wouldn't be a couple anymore.

Oliver held her tight, whispering words he'd never said before, "Do you remember the first time we met? Your classmate was hurt, and you knelt in front of me. I was moved at that moment. Sarah, my world was so messed up that I forgot there was still purity and beauty in it. Our breakup is God's way of punishing me for taking advantage of your innocence."

Sarah listened quietly.

In the end, Oliver never said who he loved.

She didn't ask, and he didn't have the guts to say.

But deep down, Oliver knew he liked Sarah. He just felt guilty about Ellie. This decision wasn't about choosing Ellie; it was about being unable to face Sarah's disappointment anymore.

"Sarah, take good care of yourself," he said, letting her go.

Just like she said, if they weren't a couple anymore, they shouldn't share a bed or embrace.

He left, looking so lonely in the morning light.

Oliver walked down the hallway and opened the door to the study.

He didn't turn on the light, just leaned back in the leather chair, covering his eyes with his hand. His eyes felt sore.

After a while, he sat up and opened his laptop.

Oliver thought, after the divorce, he had to make sure Sarah was taken care of. She was raising two kids and would need money.

Her food, clothes, housing, and cars couldn't be worse than now. She'd need servants and drivers, and all the luxury stuff. Women love to look good, so he'd have to make sure she had money for clothes and jewelry.

The kids needed to be raised too. Jacob would need money for his future, like getting married and having kids. Sarah had never worked; how could she get that money?

Oliver had to prepare all of this for her.

He typed a line, then deleted it, over and over again.

Finally, he gave up, his Adam's apple bobbing as he pulled a crumpled cigarette from his pocket, lighting it and taking a slow drag.

The more he smoked, the more irritated he felt.

Just then, Olivia knocked on the door.

Olivia didn't know he was divorcing Sarah; she just thought they had another fight. She brought in a bowl of soup she had made, saying sincerely, "Mr. Windsor, you should take care of yourself. You're almost 40."

Oliver replied, "I'm only 36."

Olivia shot back, "Not far off!"

She sat down and chatted with him, "Mrs. Windsor lost a child and is unhappy. You should spend more time with her. Over time, she will come around."

Oliver stubbed out the cigarette. He took a couple of sips of the soup and then stopped. He suddenly realized that once Sarah left, Olivia would leave too. Then he wouldn't even have this soup to drink, and no one would be there to chat with him like this.

Olivia, Jacob, Nicole—they would all be gone.

Oliver's eyes started to fill with tears.

He thought to himself, 'When did I become so sentimental? It was my decision. Why am I feeling this way even before we separated?'

He lost his appetite. He lit another cigarette, smoking it slowly, and said to Olivia, "Go pack my bags, just two sets of clothes will do."

Olivia was surprised: "Mr. Windsor, are you going on a business trip?"

Oliver was momentarily speechless. After a while, he said calmly, "Sarah and I are getting a divorce. From now on, you stay with her and take care of Jacob."

Olivia was completely stunned. She looked at Oliver and murmured, "Mr. Windsor, are you blaming Mrs. Windsor for being heartless? Isn't Ms. Johnson even more ruthless, doing such a cruel thing to Jacob! Yes, Mrs. Windsor dealt with her, but in your heart, does Mrs. Windsor and Jacob together not weigh as much as a prostitute?"

Hearing this, Oliver didn't get angry.

He just said, "Ellie is not a prostitute! She is..."

Olivia sneered, "She is your treasure!"

Olivia didn't argue further. She got up to leave, not forgetting to take the soup with her. If she had known it would be like this, she wouldn't have given it to him, letting him have it for nothing.

However, the luggage still needed to be packed.

Olivia passed by the bedroom, trying to keep her voice low, not wanting to disturb Sarah. But Sarah was awake.

Olivia scratched her head, stammering, "Mr. Windsor asked me to pack up the closet."

Sarah smiled faintly, "It's luggage, right?"

Olivia's eyes immediately turned red. She wiped her tears, choking up, "I thought things were finally getting better between you two recently. I never thought it would end like this."
