Chapter 194 She Was Not Pregnant!
But there was no second red line on it.
Grace was floored. She plopped down on the toilet, trying to wrap her head around it. She wasn't pregnant!
This meant she and Henry had to get busy in the next two months.
Grace felt the weight of the world on her shoulders and stayed in the bathroom for what felt like forever before finally coming out.
Henry was goofing around with Taylor. When he heard her coming, he glanced at her face and studied her for a few seconds. They both knew this wasn't something to talk about in front of the kid, so they kept quiet.
After Taylor crashed, Henry took a shower. When he came out, Grace was at the vanity, brushing her long hair.
In the dim yellow light, her body looked slender, not like someone who had given birth.
Henry walked over, leaned against the vanity, and asked softly, "Did you take a test? Not pregnant?"
Grace nodded. "Yeah, not pregnant."
She kept brushing her long hair, which fell softly around her waist.
Henry could see the stress eating at her. He gently held her shoulder and said in a raspy voice, "Let's see a doctor tomorrow and get a full check-up."
Grace looked up at him, her eyes moist. She was scared. No matter how well her business was doing, she was still a momther who worried about her child!
But Grace and Henry's relationship was different from other couples. She couldn't just show weakness and seek his comfort.
Henry didn't push it. He just gently pulled her into his arms.
The next morning, Henry took half a day off and went to the hospital with Grace.
After a bunch of tests, the doctor looked at the results and told Henry, "Everything looks fine! Not getting pregnant in one month is normal and doesn't mean there are any fertility issues. If you want to conceive quickly, I suggest relaxing, especially for the woman. Natural intimacy is more likely to result in pregnancy."
"Try to keep it romantic rather than treating it like a chore. Rushing it won't help." The doctor knew their situation and didn't say more.
Grace blushed a little.
Henry looked down at her, his blue eyes deep and unreadable.
Leaving the doctor's office, they got into the car. As he fastened his seatbelt, he looked at her. "Feel better now? It's normal not to conceive after one or two tries. Don't stress too much, okay?"
Grace smiled faintly. How could she relax?
She thought for a moment and then said softly, "Henry, I've thought about it. If I conceive late, I'll have a C-section at seven months."
This was really a last resort.
Henry was taken aback. He felt terrible. As a man, he couldn't take her place in enduring the hardships of pregnancy and childbirth. All the suffering was hers to endure.
Unable to bear the idea of her suffering, Henry held her close, resting his chin on her slender shoulder, his voice hoarse as he whispered, "We'll talk about it later."
Grace stayed quietly in his arms. She seemed so soft, as if they had never had those past hurts, as if she had always been his gentle little wife, always nestled in his arms like this.
Henry suddenly felt a sharp pang in his heart. He slowly lowered his head to kiss her.
Grace was momentarily dazed but didn't pull away. She even parted her lips when he tried to deepen the kiss, letting him explore.
"Henry." She trembled in his arms as he lifted her onto his lap.
Henry held her chin, feeding her kisses, his voice all husky and sexy. "This is an underground parking lot. This lane is reserved for me. No one will come by. But if you don't like it, we can go to the office or a hotel."
He sounded calm, but his body was saying something else. He was almost impatient!
Henry even guided Grace's hand to unbuckle his belt. At this moment, it wasn't about the kid; it was solely about their mutual desire.
He whispered in her ear that he often thought of her, to the point of physical pain.
He said that over the years, he often thought of her at night. The rest of his words were too explicit to recount, but at this moment, they were quite arousing. It seemed she responded with unusual swiftness this time.
"Henry." Grace bit his shoulder through his shirt, not letting him say more.
She had light makeup on today. Recently, she favored vintage colors. The brick-red lipstick subtly stained Henry's white shirt, but he didn't mind.
When she bit him hard, he lowered his head to look at her intently. His gaze was sexy and lewd.
After their intimacy, they each adjusted their clothes. The atmosphere was very subtle; something had definitely changed!
Henry turned his head to look at her, speaking gently, "Come to the office with me?"
Grace refused, finding a clumsy excuse. "I have a coffee date with Juniper this afternoon! She's going to Vesper City next week and might be gone for a month. It's been quite busy there lately."
Henry's gaze was focused.
After a moment, he said softly, "You rarely explain so much! Grace, is it because you're moved? Are you starting to have feelings for me?"
Grace responded quickly, "Just a physical need! And it's for Taylor."
Henry's gaze deepened to her answer. He didn't push her, still very gentle, uttering, "Then I'll take you back to Tranquil Heights."
He was about to start the car when Grace suddenly grabbed his hand.
She rarely took the initiative like this, and even more rarely looked at him this way. Her voice was hoarse and difficult. "Henry, don't be so good to me!"
Henry looked at her steadily. After a long time, he gently held her hand. "You're moved, so you're scared, right?"
Grace didn't answer. Whether she admitted it or not, it was all very painful.
At 2 PM, Grace and Juniper were sitting in a café. Brent had something to do and would join them later.
Grace only ordered lemon water.
Juniper had something on her mind and asked softly, "How are things with you and Henry? The pregnancy thing."
Grace held the glass, gently turning it. After a while, she said softly, "It's not something that can be rushed! The doctor said I'm too anxious and need to relax."
Juniper patted her hand.
Grace changed the subject. "What about you? This trip to Vesper City, are you and Brent planning to settle down?"
At the mention of this, Juniper paused. She looked at Grace and said, "We might. Brent proposed to me a few days ago, and I agreed!"
Grace was happy for her, not for Brent's billion-dollar fortune, nor for Juniper's future wealthy life, but because Juniper had finally found a man who respected and loved her.
