Chapter 109 There's No Chance for Us Anymore! [1]

The tiny apartment felt suffocating.

Not long ago, Henry had stayed here. They'd cuddle on the sofa, sleeping together. Back then, she leaned on him, and there was still some sweetness between them.

But now, trust was shattered, and they couldn't go back. Grace finally said that she was going to love someone else.

Henry stepped back, leaning against the wall, staring at her.

The bright light made Grace's skin glow, almost crystal clear.

Grace adjusted her clothes, trying to hide her embarrassment. After a while, she spoke softly, "Henry, I'm serious about divorcing you! Haven't you been busy with a project lately? Many shareholders are against it, right? And the 2% equity I hold has become crucial!"

Henry's blue eyes narrowed.

Grace looked into his eyes and said slowly, "People say a couple is one, but Henry, we're about to divorce. What do you think I'll choose in this project?"

Henry leaned against the wall, staring at Grace, his usually gentle wife. He was angry, but his blue eyes were most captivating when he was enraged.

After a while, he pulled out a pack of cigarettes, shook one out, and lit it.

Smoke filled the air. Through the haze, Henry asked softly, "What do you mean?"

Grace took a deep breath and said bluntly, "Henry, if you don't divorce me, I'll vote against it! That project is your two years of hard work. I don't think you'll give it up over personal feelings. What you care about most is power and wealth, isn't it?"

Henry extinguished the cigarette and grabbed her by the neck. "You dare!"

Grace gave him a bleak smile. "Watch me!"

He pulled her close, his blue eyes locking onto hers, his voice light but threatening, "That equity was my token of affection for you, and now you're using it against me!"

Tears welled up in Grace's eyes, and she trembled.

Grace was scared but still found the courage to confront Henry, "Yes! I'm using it against you! Henry, if you don't agree to the divorce, you'll also feel what it's like to have your hard work trampled on and something you love taken away!"

Henry stared at Grace for a long time before suddenly letting her go. He spoke mockingly, "Congratulations, Mrs. Montague, you've found my weak spot! That project is indeed important to me. I'll think about it."

Henry's pride wouldn't let him beg her at that moment.

But as he left, he said softly with his back to her, "But Grace, you are not me. How do you know what is truly dear to me?"

He didn't wait for her answer and left. He went downstairs and got into his black Bentley.

He didn't drive away immediately but lit a cigarette and sat quietly smoking. There were so many business matters waiting for him, but he didn't want to move.

After a few cigarettes, the phone in the glove compartment rang. It was Seraphina calling.

Aurora had tried to keep it a secret, so Seraphina didn't know about the issues between Henry and Grace. She complained to Henry on the phone, "Henry, why haven't you brought Grace back recently? Did you make her sad again? You should know those women outside are unreliable. They're either after the Montague family's wealth or your looks. Grace is so good. Amara dropped by recently and raved about Grace's potential to become a big star. You should treat Grace better!" Seraphina said a lot.

Henry leaned back, listening quietly, feeling a lump in his throat. After a while, he said softly, "I will."

Hanging up, he looked up at Grace's apartment.

As dusk approached, the apartment was lit with a small orange lamp. He suddenly wondered what she was doing. Was she tidying up the house as usual, making snacks? But soon, he might never see such ordinary moments again.

When Henry drove back to the villa, it started to rain. A servant came over with an umbrella to open the car door for him.

Henry asked casually, "Where is Mrs. Montague?"

The servant was stunned, then said softly, "Mrs. Montague moved out! Did you forget?"

Henry was taken aback. The rain blurred his handsome face, and he stood there for a long time before saying softly, "I know," then took the umbrella and walked into the villa.

He didn't eat but went straight to the third floor, where Grace usually practiced the violin.

Grace's violin was there, looking lonely without its owner. The paintings he had given her were no longer appreciated.

The rain kept falling, and Henry's heart felt damp. He walked over, touching the things Grace had used, reminiscing about their past.

Just now, he had told her, "Grace, you are not me. How do you know what is truly dear to me!"

He thought, 'She won't care anymore!'

Grace was so determined to leave him. She no longer cared about what he thought or whether he truly wanted to win her back!

She had loved him for so many years, and now that he was starting to have feelings for her, she wanted him out of her heart, out of her life, and out of her world!

Grace said that her marriage to Henry was not the life she wanted. She said she would have a new lover!

Under the dazzling crystal chandelier, Henry closed his eyes slightly. His handsome face showed no expression, but there was a faint glimmer at the corner of his eye.

He thought it couldn't be tears. How could he cry? How could he possibly cry for Grace?

A servant knocked on the door, sounding a bit uneasy, "Mr. Montague, Celeste has brought some documents! Do you want to see her?"

After a long while, Henry responded, "Let her in."

About two minutes later, Celeste came in with the documents. As soon as she entered, she saw Henry's lonely back. He was staring at a painting on the wall, one that Celeste recognized as a painting by Grace's mother, Donna.

Was Henry regretting it now?

Celeste put down the documents and said softly, "The annual dividend has come in. This is Mrs. Montague's notice, over 45 million dollars. Mr. Montague, will you give it to her, or should I take it?"

Henry picked up the notice and looked at it for a long time and finally said, "I'll give it to her."

Celeste knew he was in a bad mood, but the company was pressing, so she had to bite the bullet and say, "Mr. Montague, you can't keep dragging your feet on the decision meeting for that project any longer! The shareholders are already complaining today, and other big companies are interested. If someone else gets ahead, your two years of hard work will be wasted!"

Henry turned to look outside. The rain was getting heavier. After a long time, he said softly, "Schedule the meeting for the day after tomorrow."

The sound of the rain drowned out his voice, and Celeste almost didn't hear him. She couldn't be sure if Henry's voice had choked up when he spoke.
