Chapter 620 Taylor: Samuel, Let's Get a Divorce
Jacob slowly stepped forward, his eyes narrowing as he took in the scene before him.
Samuel stood there with Zenobia clinging to his arm, looking like she was on the verge of tears. If you didn't know better, you'd think they were a couple.
"Jacob," Samuel said, his voice a bit shaky.
He knew Jacob was Taylor's cousin, and if Jacob got the wrong idea and told Taylor, it could spell trouble for Zenobia.
Samuel didn't want that; Zenobia had already been through enough.
"Zenobia's just a friend from college," Samuel quickly explained.
Jacob smirked, "Not an old flame?"
The bluntness of Jacob's question made both Samuel and Zenobia uncomfortable. Zenobia's face went pale, and she struggled to find her voice.
Samuel, feeling a pang of sympathy, cut in, "That was a long time ago. Don't go telling Taylor anything that'll upset her."
A little girl named Thalassa clung to Samuel's leg. She looked a lot like Zenobia, and her cautious eyes made her seem pitiful. Samuel couldn't stand it and picked her up, gently comforting her.
The sight made Jacob sick.
He glared at Samuel, his voice icy, "Don't worry, I won't waste my breath."
A tear slid down Zenobia's cheek. She covered her face, "Samuel, I'm so sorry!"
Samuel naturally tried to comfort her, but Jacob had had enough. He turned and left with Serafina and Abigail. Even after getting into the car, he was still fuming. He pulled out a cigarette, but instead of lighting it, he just held it between his lips for a moment before snapping it in half.
Serafina, sensing his mood, was about to say something when Jacob spoke up.
"Samuel's just a guy who clawed his way up from nothing," Jacob said bitterly. "Now it turns out he's a real piece of work.
"Samuel met Taylor at a party. He was blown away by her. And to be fair, Taylor is amazing. She's got the best family background, she's gorgeous, and she's a top-notch surgeon at a young age. She deserves the best.
"Samuel's pursuit of her seemed like love at first sight, but it was more about her looks.
"Their marriage was a huge boost for Samuel. After marrying Taylor, his tech company got a $500 million investment and went public, with a peak market value of over $180 billion. Samuel's personal assets reached billions. With that kind of money, even a nobody can become somebody.
"Time wore down their feelings, but I know Taylor liked him at first. Now she's just disappointed."
Jacob's voice trembled slightly at the last few words.
Serafina didn't say anything. She just leaned over and gently held his hand, silently supporting him.
After a long while, Jacob turned to her and softly murmured, "Serafina, I won't let you down again."
Serafina smiled, "I know."
That night, a black Cullinan rolled into the garden villa.
As the car stopped, a servant came to open the door. "Mr. Collins, you're back! Would you like a late-night snack?"
"A bowl of pasta, please," Samuel said casually.
After getting out of the car and closing the door, he asked the servant, "Is Taylor home?"
The servant nodded eagerly, "Mrs. Collins came home early. She should still be awake."
Samuel didn't ask further. He ate a bowl of pasta downstairs before heading to the second floor with his suit jacket.
After searching the master bedroom, he found Taylor on the balcony.
A glass of red wine sat on the black wrought-iron railing.
Taylor wore a moon-white silk dress, draped with a loose black blazer. She leaned back in a lounge chair, gazing out into the night. The evening breeze played with her dark hair, occasionally revealing the delicate lines of her profile.
In that moment, the gentle atmosphere lent Taylor an unexpected vulnerability—something quietly captivating.
Footsteps sounded behind her, and Taylor's body stiffened. She knew it was her husband, Samuel.
But Taylor didn't turn around or call his name. She continued to sit quietly, looking at the distant night scene and the ordinary lives of others.
Samuel came to her side, his voice unusually gentle, "It's freezing out here. Why don't you come inside?"
Taylor looked up at him.
Samuel's face, illuminated by the moonlight, looked mature and strikingly handsome. For a long time after their wedding, their days were simple but content—at least, until Zenobia reentered their lives.
Zenobia was beautiful, with a delicate charm that made men want to protect her.
And Zenobia's appearance made Taylor realize the truth about their marriage. She discovered why Samuel had pursued her and married her—because she resembled Zenobia, Samuel's first love.
It was laughable. She, Taylor, had become a stand-in!
Their relationship grew cold.
Samuel was busy taking care of Zenobia and Thalassa, rarely coming home, and she didn't bother asking. Every lonely night, she thought about divorce, but something always got in the way. Now, she didn't want to delay any longer.
Taylor spoke softly, "I heard you bought her a large apartment and hired foreign specialists for that child. Samuel, is that child yours and Zenobia's?"
Zenobia had been in Evergreen City for two years, and Samuel had taken care of her for two years. But this was the first time Taylor had asked such a question.
Samuel frowned.
Then he sneered, "Did Jacob tell you that?"
Taylor's tone was calm, "You forget I'm a healthcare worker. The hospital you found for Zenobia is affiliated with the Montague Group. My colleagues often go there for exchanges. Seeing you two together is normal."
These words successfully angered Samuel. He unbuttoned two buttons on his shirt, his gaze icy. "Zenobia is just a helpless woman. Taylor, why do you have to be so harsh?"
"Helpless?"
"Isn't her support you, Samuel? The founder of SamZen Tech. Oh, I almost forgot, your company is called SamZen Tech. Samuel and Zenobia, right?"
Samuel's thoughts were exposed.
But he believed that was in the past. He hadn't done anything to betray Taylor after their marriage, so he coldly said, "You're being unreasonable."
Samuel regretted coming back. He didn't want to argue with Taylor.
As he turned to leave, thinking about staying at a hotel for the night, Taylor's voice came softly from behind, "Samuel. Do you know what boundaries are?"
Samuel turned sharply.
Taylor stood up, her hair loose in the night, making her face look even more delicate. She showed no emotion, as if he no longer mattered.
She said, "Samuel, let's get a divorce."
Samuel glared at her.
After a long moment, he ground his teeth, "What nonsense are you talking about? She's just an old acquaintance. I haven't crossed any lines, and I haven't done anything to betray you."
Taylor didn't argue.
She was already dead inside regarding this marriage and Samuel. For two years, his heart had been with Zenobia, never considering he was married and had a wife.
Samuel rarely came home, and when he did, they ended up arguing.
He didn't leave the villa but didn't share the bed either. He let Taylor have the master bedroom and chose a guest room. After a shower, as he lay down, his phone rang.
It was Zenobia.
Zenobia's voice was urgent, with a hint of tears, "Samuel, Thalassa had another episode tonight. The foreign specialist said she can't wait any longer. Samuel, can you come over? I know it's hard for you, but Thalassa really needs you. She was just calling your name. Samuel, please come."
Samuel's heart tightened. He quickly put on his pants and a shirt.
In the dead of night, Samuel hurried downstairs. Moments later, the sound of a car engine echoed in the courtyard. Taylor, still awake, lay in bed, listening to her husband rush to another woman.
A cold smile played on her lips as she reached to turn off the bedside lamp.
She was done with an unfaithful man.
