Chapter 329 Oliver, Our Marriage Is Meaningless

Sarah blinked, thinking she must've misheard. "Oliver, say that again," she demanded.

"Can this save her life?" he repeated.

Before he could even finish, Sarah slapped him hard across the face. She put everything she had into it, making her hand sting and her ears ring.

The room went dead silent, except for their heavy breathing.

Sarah's voice almost gave out. After a moment, she found it again. "Oliver, Jacob is your son! She almost killed him, and now you want to save her?"

No mom could accept that. He'd promised her an explanation when he left, but this was what he came back with.

Tears streamed down Sarah's face. "Oliver, I've given up on you and our marriage a long time ago. I don't care how many women you've been with. But why let her hurt Jacob? Why protect someone who did something so awful?"

Sarah was on the edge of breaking down.

Oliver reached out for her, but she slapped his hand away. She kept backing up, muttering, "Don't touch me! Oliver, don't touch me!"

He stared at her for a while, then sat down on the sofa, picked up the document, and said coldly, "Just tell me, yes or no?"

"You bastard!" Sarah's voice shook. If she could, she would've stabbed him and Ellie right then and there.

In that moment, the innocent Sarah died. Oliver had killed her with his own hands.

With no other choice, Sarah took the document with trembling hands, looked at him with dead eyes, and said coldly, "Of course."

What she held was evidence against Dylan, traded for Jacob's life. How ironic.

She remembered Oliver promising there'd be no other women. Now he was using this to save Ellie.

Good thing she didn't believe him. Good thing her love had died long ago.

Sarah held the document and walked to the door. The light above cast a halo around her, making her silhouette look as slender as a young girl.

"Sarah!" Oliver called after her, but she ignored him.

She took the document to the hospital rooftop, squatted down, and used Oliver's lighter to set it on fire.

The flames lit up her face.

She watched as the white paper turned to ashes, the wind carrying them away.

From now on, Dylan was free.

Oliver slowly walked over to Sarah. Before he could say anything, she softly said, "You know, I could've asked for a divorce just now."

Oliver's throat tightened. "Why didn't you?"

Sarah looked down at her thin hand, murmuring, "Because it doesn't matter."

She turned to face the wind, gazing at Oliver, the man she once loved but now deeply hated. Softly, she repeated, "Oliver, our marriage is meaningless. Whether we're together or not, it makes no difference."

Oliver wanted to explain, but he couldn't bring himself to tell Sarah all the dirty details.

Should he tell her that he and Ellie had been lovers for a long time? That she helped him entertain clients, got drunk, was forced by three men, and even had an ectopic pregnancy?

Oliver couldn't say it. When he rebuilt his business, he did many shady things, but none were as humiliating as this.

Back then, Ellie was his woman. His pride and dignity had been completely shattered!

Feeling irritated, Oliver took out a cigarette, lit it, and let the pale blue smoke get carried away by the wind. In a hoarse voice, he said, "Sarah, I have my reasons. After this, I'll send her away. She won't come back. Whether you believe it or not, I love you!"

Sarah gave him a bitter smile.

He loved her. What a joke.

She left without hesitation. Oliver reached out to stop her but couldn't catch her.

That afternoon, Grace came to see Jacob.

Oliver had gone to the company, so only Sarah and Olivia were in the ward, taking care of Jacob.

Jacob was sick and slept most of the time. Sarah looked pale and exhausted. Grace was really worried about her. So, she found a moment and quietly asked Olivia.

Olivia knew the situation, so she told Grace the truth. "Originally, Mr. Windsor said he would give Mrs. Windsor an explanation and hand Ellie over to the police. But after he went out, he changed his mind. It seems he used an important document to save Ellie's life. Mrs. Windsor had a big fight with him."

As she spoke, Olivia couldn't help but wipe her tears. "Since yesterday, Mrs. Windsor hasn't eaten anything. It's not that she doesn't want to eat; she can't eat!"

Grace felt very sad. At that moment, Sarah appeared at the kitchen door.

Olivia quickly wiped her tears. "I'll go check on Jacob."

Grace spoke, "Sarah, let's talk!"
