Chapter 191 I Will Never Forgive You
Grace shot back, no hesitation.
She shoved Henry away, took a deep breath, and laid it all out, "I moved here for Taylor, not to dig up our old mess! Yeah, I'm single, but that doesn't mean I gotta settle for you!"
Henry felt a twinge of sadness, but he kept his cool, knowing he had it coming.
He didn't push it, but things were definitely frosty between them.
Clara picked up on the tension and worried it might mess with Taylor. Grace reassured her, "Henry will keep it together around the kid!"
Grace could tell Henry was trying to make things right, but she wasn't having it.
In the following days, Grace cut back on work and took Taylor to the amusement park.
Mornings were quieter, perfect for Taylor. She rarely got out and hit the slide like ten times, not wanting to leave.
Grace told her, "Two more times."
Halfway down the slide, Taylor turned to Grace and said this one didn't count, making Clara crack up. Grace just smiled, shaking her head.
Then, a voice from behind made her freeze. "Grace!"
She turned slowly, and yep, it was Aurora.
Three years had softened Aurora's edge, but Grace couldn't forget what she'd done. If Grace hadn't survived those rough times, they wouldn't be here now.
Aurora hadn't forgotten either. Looking guilty, she pleaded, "Can I see Taylor? I'm her grandma. Henry won't let me near her, won't even acknowledge me! Grace, it's been years, can't you forgive me?"
Grace shot back coldly, "Forgiveness? That's between you and your conscience. I'm not playing the saint here."
Aurora tried to plead more.
However, Clara rushed over and shoved Aurora away. "How dare you beg Grace? You almost killed her back then; did you forget she's Taylor's mom and Henry's wife?"
Aurora broke down, recounting her miserable years. "Three years! Henry hasn't spoken to me in three whole years. He doesn't come home, doesn't look at me; he spends every New Year at Tranquil Heights. He doesn't see me as his mother!"
Clara spat, "That's your karma!"
With that, Clara scooped up Taylor and told Grace, "Let's go! No point dealing with her!"
Grace nodded and walked off with Clara.
Taylor lay on Clara's shoulder, watching Aurora cry with a longing look.
Aurora, tears streaming, called out Taylor's name, dreaming of holding her!
As Aurora despaired, a refined figure stood in the distance, silently watching her and the direction Grace had gone.
The person looked a lot like Henry, and Aurora glanced up.
She froze, and in a daze, whispered the name, "Neil!"
Then her voice turned sharp. "Neil."
