Chapter 225 Forget About Me! Be Happy with Owen!
Henry was at a loss for words.
Grace wasn't looking for answers either. They just hung out under the lamp, waiting for Clara to show up.
Late at night, a car's engine rumbled in the courtyard. Clara hustled up to the master bedroom on the second floor.
Seeing Clara, Grace let out a relieved sigh and whispered, "Clara."
"Let me see the kid." Clara was super calm. She gently cradled Taylor, lightly patting her, and pressed her cheek to Taylor's forehead to check her temperature. She spoke softly to Taylor.
Taylor was still trapped in her nightmare. After a bit, she whimpered for Clara, mumbling, "Anouk scared me. She said Daddy and Mommy are bad. She said Daddy locked Mommy in a mental hospital. She said Daddy doesn't want Mommy and wants a new wife."
Clara's heart ached. She felt awful for Taylor and even worse for Grace. Her heart was breaking, but she still pressed her face against Taylor's, gently and lovingly comforting her, "Those are just dreams, not real! They're all from Taylor's nightmare!"
Clara kept reassuring Taylor.
She gently patted Taylor, and slowly, Taylor calmed down and fell asleep.
Clara stayed with her, knowing she'd have to spend the night.
Grace had something to say to Henry. After watching Taylor for a bit, she stepped out and waited for him in the small flower room.
About five minutes later, Henry wheeled himself over.
A servant brought coffee, its aroma filling the room, but neither Grace nor Henry felt like drinking it. They sat facing each other.
After a long silence, Grace spoke first.
Grace's emotions were all over the place, her voice clearly strained. "Are you seriously gonna keep her around? She scared Taylor for her own selfish reasons. Who knows what she'll do next? Henry, if you really like someone and want to marry them, that's fine. But don't allow these undeserving women to remain, risking harm to our child."
Grace lowered her eyes and added, "Henry, I have my limits."
She loved him and appreciated what he did for Taylor, but if someone like Anouk stayed by his side, she couldn't let the kids come over anymore.
Grace continued, slightly tilting her head, "I've tried so hard to forget those things, but now she brings it up in front of Taylor! Henry, if you don't take the action, I will! You have to believe that a woman's heart can be a hundred times more ruthless than a man's."
She said a lot, revealing a lot.
She revealed her feelings for Henry, her concern about the women around him.
Grace had no regrets in baring her soul. She locked eyes with him, the pent-up emotions on the verge of bursting. If Henry made a move, she believed they would end up together.
Under the bright light, Henry's voice was low as he said, "I'll handle it!"
As he spoke, his expression became somewhat lost, his voice turning bitter. "I'm already like this! Grace, forget about me! Be with Owen! Forget what happened in the courtyard!"
After saying this, Henry wheeled himself away.
What Anouk said wasn't just a wound in Grace's heart; it was also a thorn in Henry's heart that he couldn't get rid of. He had hurt Grace so much; what right did he have to hold onto her with this broken body?
Anouk had totally wrecked the last shred of Henry's dream. She dragged their messy past into the open, making everything worse.
Grace was ready to forgive him, but he couldn't forgive himself.
Late at night, Henry headed downstairs.
Anouk was still there, feeling guilty about what she did. When she saw Henry, she immediately started whining, "Mr. Montague, Ms. Windsor is overstepping. The stuff in this villa isn't her business."
"Then whose business is it?" Henry's voice was cold as ice as he stared at Anouk. He had tried to push Grace away, but he never had any romantic thing with Anouk, nor had he ever hinted at it.
Anouk was stunned.
Henry straight-up told her he'd use his connections to revoke her medical license, meaning she could no longer be a doctor.
"And," Henry said coldly, "leave Evergreen City in 48 hours! Don't think you can dodge this. I'll have someone pack your stuff and send you to a city in the northwest. Following that, you'll be under surveillance!"
"They'll be watching you when you eat, when you sleep, even when you use the bathroom," Henry added.
He went on, "Anouk, I don't think you'll ever make another mistake or say another wrong word in your life!"
Anouk was shocked, tears welling up as she pleaded, "Mr. Montague, I've worked hard for 20 years to get here. You can't just erase everything with one word. You can't just listen to Ms. Windsor."
Henry's expression grew colder. "If it weren't for the kid, with my temper, your legs would be broken by now."
She was stunned again. She always thought that even if Henry didn't like her, he didn't hate her. She never imagined that just scaring Taylor would lead to such a severe punishment.
Anouk wanted to plead more, but two black-clad bodyguards walked in. Henry gave a few cold instructions, and they covered Anouk's mouth and dragged her away. Soon, the room she had stayed in was cleaned and disinfected, and her belongings were thrown out.
After all this, Henry's expression became even more vacant. He thought about what Taylor had said in her dream, about what he had done to Grace. He remembered that night, driving through thick snow to find Grace in that villa.
Grace had been tormented to the brink of death. Though it wasn't Henry's intention, he was an accomplice. He had nearly killed Grace.
Henry didn't go back upstairs. He sat quietly, waiting for dawn. The first light made his eyes wet. He was grateful for the hope the light had brought back then, for it had saved Grace.
Upstairs, Grace hadn't slept either.
She waited until morning, but instead of Henry, she got a call from Oliver.
The siblings were silent for a moment.
Grace's voice was hoarse and tired as she bluntly asked, "Oliver, are you with Sarah?"
Oliver paused, then admitted, "Yeah! I married her a year ago!"
Grace's hand holding the phone began to tremble.
She couldn't believe what Oliver was saying, but the voice on the phone was so real!
She wasn't that selfless, she also hated Dylan. However, she wanted Oliver's marriage to be happy, not driven by hate to marry Dylan's sister.
