Chapter 105 A Plan That Disregards Dignity

Cynthia suddenly became haughty and said slowly, "Elbert, don't blame me for opposing your relationship. I had no choice.

"At that time, although you had good grades and were smart, it didn't mean you would be successful in the future. Look, it's been three years, and you still..."

"Cynthia, say less!" Benjamin frowned and interrupted his wife.

Cynthia rolled her eyes and said, "I'm not wrong!"

"Mom, please stop. Elbert has always been excellent!" Emily tugged at her mother's sleeve under the table.

Benjamin slowly stepped toward Elbert and smiled. "Elbert, I'll be straightforward. I need a favor from you."

"What is it?" Elbert raised an eyebrow.

"I heard from our Emily that you were best friends with Alvin in college?"

Emily chimed in, "Yes... the CEO of Creator Company, Alvin!"

Benjamin forced a smile, "I want to ask you to introduce me to Mr. Weaver."

Emily's father, Benjamin, was not an ordinary senior executive of a listed company. He worked at the top internet giant in the U.S., Meta Platforms!

Benjamin was none other than the person who, a few days ago, was given a strict order by the group's Vice President of Business, Cassius, to acquire the Creator company at Meta Platforms' headquarters.

Benjamin showed a bitter smile. "Our group wants to discuss some business with the Creator, but I've been waiting outside the Creator's office for three days, and Mr. Weaver refuses to see me!"

Elbert shook his head helplessly. "You want to acquire their company; in that case, they won't see you!"

Benjamin was slightly stunned. He didn't expect Elbert to guess the truth accurately, but he quickly understood.

'Meta Platforms had a reputation for either copying or acquiring excellent companies. No wonder Elbert thought that way!' thought he.

Benjamin sighed. "I really have no choice but to ask for your help. If I can't get this deal, I might lose my job!"

Elbert glanced at Emily. Emily, who had been staring at Elbert in a daze, suddenly felt guilty and quickly lowered her head, not daring to meet Elbert's eyes.

From the moment Emily saw Elbert, an inexplicable feeling arose in her heart!

In her eyes, Elbert seemed different from before!

He appeared more handsome and exuded an invisible aura, seemingly low-key yet incredibly powerful—both casual and slightly intimidating, unpredictable.

Elbert sighed softly. 'Emily hadn't done anything wrong; it was just our family backgrounds and perspectives that were destined to be different. She and I would never be on the same path!'

Thinking of the slight guilt from breaking up with Emily, Elbert smiled. "Mr. Thompson, you can talk to me about the Creator matter. I'll help."

"That's ridiculous!" Cynthia folded her arms and looked smug. "Talking to you about the business is useless. Even if you and Alvin are good friends, he won't listen to you about his company. Besides, Alvin may have forgotten about you!"

Elbert said calmly, "Alvin and I are very close, and he listens to me."

"Yeah, right!" Cynthia raised an eyebrow. "Honey, I think he just wants money. I told you it didn't have to be this complicated!"

Then, she pulled out two stacks of cash from her bag!She said, "Elbert, here's $50,000. If you introduce my husband to Alvin and they successfully meet, I'll give you another $50,000. How about it? That's probably more than a few years of your salary, right?"

Cynthia looked at Elbert with a smug expression.

Elbert glanced at the stacks of cash and then at Benjamin, chuckling lightly.

He stood up and said, "Take back your money. For Emily's sake, I'll discuss this with Alvin."

Then, Elbert left directly!

Watching Elbert's departing figure, Emily couldn't regain her composure for a long time. He was still as stubborn as ever! No matter how difficult the situation was, he wouldn't show weakness or accept help from others!

"Who does he think he is? Accomplished nothing, yet has such a big temper!"

Cynthia suddenly spat and turned to Emily, "Emily, ever since you broke up with Elbert, you haven't contacted Alvin either, not even a phone call. Alvin is so outstanding; you should stay in touch with him!"

Emily looked at her mother with resentment. "It's all your fault! Alvin was just a salesman working in a store before! You didn't let me stay in touch with people like him! You even said they were low-class!"

"I did it for your good!"

Cynthia was choked by her daughter’s remarks and glared at her before turning to Benjamin.

She worriedly said, "Honey, this Elbert is unreliable! We can't count on him! Do you have any other ideas?"

Benjamin frowned deeply, "No other ideas left, just one!"

"What idea?" Cynthia perked up.

Benjamin's face turned red, and he gritted his teeth and turned to Emily.

"Tomorrow, you are attending a class reunion. We will go in with you! Then I have the chance to talk to Alvin face-to-face!" he said.

Emily panicked upon hearing this!

"Dad, you can't do that! My classmates will laugh at me!" she exclaimed.

Benjamin sighed heavily and spoke, "Mockery? A few laughs are nothing! If I lose my job, how will our family make a living? I promised Mr. Greene! I must go tomorrow!"

With that, Benjamin got up and headed to the car.

"You two take a cab home. I need to report to Mr. Greene at the company!" he said.
