Chapter 68 The Brown family honored guests
The entire banquet hall fell silent once again. Aldrich looked like he'd been struck by lightning, collapsing silently into his chair. Everyone else exchanged shocked glances.
Just moments ago, Aldrich boasted about his company's plans to go public. And now, in an instant, it was all over. His company was bankrupt. The most terrifying thing was that this was exactly what Elbert had predicted.
Suddenly, the despondent Aldrich snapped out of it, screaming hysterically, "Elbert, did you do this? What's your connection to the Gemini app? I refuse to believe they'd target me for no reason!"
Everyone else instantly connected the dots. Gemini app, a social software that recently emerged and was creating miracles, had already amassed 800 million users online in just one week. It seemed poised to rival giants like Meta. Its developer and founder were hailed as the most mysterious programming and business genius.
'Could Elbert be connected to him?' thought everyone.
Melissa remained calm, but her mind was racing. The gentleman asked them to call him Paul Two. It was rumored the founder of the Gemini app was named Paul Three. And then there was the singer, Paul. Melissa couldn't help but shiver.
As for the truth, Melissa dared not delve into it.
"Coincidentally, the current CEO of the company behind the Gemini app, Alvin Weaver, is my college classmate," Elbert said calmly.
What Elbert said was true. Alvin was indeed the CEO of Creator. But what Elbert didn't mention was that he was the true founder of the Gemini app. He was also the one who went by the alias Paul Three, the real mastermind behind Creator.
"So, it must be you!" Aldrich shouted angrily, then suddenly froze. "But I didn’t see you contact anyone just now!"
"Your downfall today is your own doing. I don’t need to contact anyone," Elbert replied calmly.
Indeed, Elbert didn’t need to contact anyone. Robert controlled the core programs of the Gemini app. No matter what changes he wanted, Elbert only needed to connect with Robert in mind.
"You've gone too far!" Aldrich screamed, suddenly charging at Elbert in a frenzy.
But Elbert remained calm. He didn't even flinch. There was a flash of movement, and Melissa, who had been standing behind him, kicked Aldrich. Aldrich was sent flying three meters by her kick, crashing to the floor and passing out.
From the moment Elbert met Melissa, he knew. This heiress of the Clark family was far from as weak as she appeared. Coming from the Clark family and ruling Wavehaven's underground black market, she couldn't possibly be without combat ability. Taking down dozens of people like Aldrich would be no problem for her.
Everyone was once again shocked. Miss Clark had actually helped Elbert fight, and she hadn't held back at all. No one dared to help Aldrich up; they just let him lie on the ground.
It was unbelievable. Aldrich went bankrupt just like that, and his end was extremely miserable. When everyone looked at the calm Elbert again, their eyes were filled with awe. No one thought his previous words were arrogant anymore.
Elbert seemed like a mountain, overshadowing everything. His power seemed endless, inexhaustible. No matter who he wanted to defeat, he always had powerful methods and means. To strike down his opponent with one blow, leaving no room for resistance.
"It's just you two left; let's talk about the concert!" Elbert smiled arrogantly, pointing at Ethan and Rex.
"Uh... I think..." Ethan stammered immediately.
"Ethan, what are you afraid of? We're not like Aldrich; we haven't done anything illegal!" Rex chimed in, trying to bolster his almost completely shattered confidence.
Suddenly, Mr. Brown, who was at the head of the table, stood up with a complex expression and said, "Elbert, or perhaps it's more fitting to call you Mr. Perry now! I underestimated you! I foolishly regarded you as an ordinary person! I am sorry."
After Alan said this, he slightly bowed and saluted Elbert.
"Father, what are you doing?" Mary and Susan exclaimed.
Their father, who had always been incredibly dignified in their eyes, actually stood up and bowed to Elbert. The fact stunned them.
They were too inexperienced to understand. Melissa's silent submission to Elbert and Elbert's ability to make Aldrich go bankrupt with just a thought showed such formidable strength!
Even Lori couldn't quite understand her father's drastic actions. Although she had been working for several years, she had always lived under Mr. Brown's protection. She had no understanding of the complex entanglements between major powers. She couldn't even imagine that her massive Brown Family might crumble just because of a word from the Clark family. But at this moment, Lori clearly realized Elbert was no longer the Elbert she once knew.
"Mr. Brown, there's no need for this," Elbert also stood up and returned the salute to Alan, humble.
Alan trembled slightly and said, "I just want to ask what your plans are for the future, Mr. Perry. Are you willing to stay with the Brown Family? Take it easy; whether you choose to stay or not, you will always be the most honored guest of the Brown Family."
Elbert just nodded lightly. "I said before I finished what I started. Once I've dealt with the wicked and have a clear conscience, I will naturally leave."
"That's good! I knew I wasn't wrong about you, Elbert; you're arrogant, domineering, and loyal!" At this moment, General Jeffery, who had been quietly observing, suddenly stood up. His eyes gleamed. "Elbert, now that family matters are settled, let's talk about national matters!"
As General Jeffery stood up, several armored personnel carriers sped over outside the Brown Family estate. Armed soldiers rushed out of the vehicles and surrounded the estate. Several teams of soldiers even stormed into the estate, standing with their guns ready.
General Jeffery laughed heartily. "I am currently holding a national conscription order; those I deem fit must unconditionally comply and follow me into the army! Even if Chief Aaron Clark himself were here, he would have no authority to stop me!"
