Chapter 25 The Return of the Culinary God
18:30, The FutureTech Group's closing time.
Carol stretched out her long, slender legs, blocking Elbert's way.
"Hey, dude, where are you going tonight?"
"Want to have dinner with me?"
This woman!
A mature beauty, sexy and alluring!
Elbert was slightly speechless.
Lori appeared behind them with a sullen expression, "Carol, I need you to work late! Elbert, come home with me for dinner!"
"Miss Brown, you can't interfere with my personal life!" Carol said with a bit of fury.
"While it's still too early for dinner. I still have..." he said.
Before Elbert finished his words, he had been dragged away by Lori, waving goodbye helplessly!
On the way back to the estate.
Elbert, who was driving, looked serious, "Miss Brown, I've discovered something strange."
Seeing Elbert's expression, Lori instinctively became serious. "What did you discover?"
Elbert turned his head, frowning. "You seem to be jealous."
"What?"
"Carol was flirting with me, and you got jealous."
Then, a furious shout pierced through the soundproof Rolls-Royce, echoing in the sky!
The cold and aloof female CEO completely abandoned her composure, shouting words she had never said before, "Elbert, you're full of crap!"
Elbert burst into laughter, finding endless joy in teasing Lori!
Ten minutes later.
The $2 million Rolls-Royce stopped in front of a humble vegetable market, looking somewhat out of place.
"Eggplants, one for $2.50."
"Cabbage, three for $10!"
The vendors' shouts were incessant.
Elbert turned to the puffed-up Lori and smiled. "Speaking of dinner, I happen to be a good cook. I'll go buy some groceries and show you my skills tonight!"
Before Lori could agree, Elbert had already stepped out of the car!
Lori frowned as she looked out the car window.
The noisy crowd, the muddy ground, and a worker-like person haggling over vegetable prices.
The vegetables bought from such a dirty place made her feel sick; she was not willing to stay too long.
Elbert knocked on the car window, looking embarrassed.
"This place only takes cash, and I happen to be out..."
When Lori heard this, her heart softened.
She knew he had already spent the $500,000.
Looking at her impoverished savior, Lori felt sorry for him.
She gently opened her wallet, pulled out a wad of cash, and said softly, "Ask me for more if it's not enough."
"You are so generous."
Elbert grabbed the cash and ran off like a thief!
Twenty minutes later.
Lori regretted it.
The biggest regret of her life was giving Elbert money to buy groceries!
The Rolls-Royce's trunk was already full.
Elbert came back with a dozen fish and dozens of pounds of beef!
And a bag of dirt!
They had to put it in the Rolls-Royce's cabin!
At Lori's feet.
The bag of flopping seabream splashed water all over her face!
Fresh beef was leaking red blood, scaring Lori so much she didn't dare to step down!
"I regret it. I shouldn’t have let him buy groceries."
"Why did I have to give him money?"
Lori screamed.
"What's going on? "
Elbert threw another bag into the car and sat back in the driver's seat with a flourish.
"What's this?"
Lori looked at the wriggling things in the bag, her scalp tingling.
"Silkworm pupae, it's high in protein and good for muscle growth!"
"Ah! Throw these disgusting bugs out!"
"Lori, can you be more composed? Stop screaming, or people might think I'm assaulting you!"
"Elbert, you're too much!"
"Wait until you taste my cooking; you'll forgive me!"
At the Brown Family estate, outside the kitchen.
Elbert barred everyone from entering, claiming that his excellent cooking skills were not to be observed!
Lori held her phone, hesitating whether to order takeout!
What puzzled her was that Mary and Susan, the two little girls, cheered when they heard Elbert was cooking!
The two little girls were now running in the yard.
They said they had to run until they were hungry to eat more!
Lori really couldn't understand; Elbert didn't look like someone who could cook at all!
She did know that before joining the Brown Family, Elbert had worked as a waiter in a restaurant.
'Could he have picked up some skills while working there?'
'But the skills from such a place wouldn't produce anything delicious, right?'
She pondered.
Ten minutes later.
There were banging sounds coming from the kitchen.
It sounded like someone was abusing the beef!
Twenty minutes later.
A screeching noise came from the kitchen, like nails on a chalkboard!
Lori sighed, hoping he wouldn't destroy the kitchen!
Thirty minutes later.
Someone was mixing mud in the kitchen!
Forty minutes later.
Cold air wafted out from behind the door!
"What on earth is Elbert doing in there!"
Just as Lori's patience was wearing thin, the kitchen door opened!
Elbert gently wiped his hands with a white towel. "Ladies, dinner is served!"
The three Miss Browns, each with different feelings, walked into the kitchen!
"Wow! So dazzling!"
"It's so bright I can't open my eyes!"
On the dining table was a magnificent ice sculpture!
It was a mountain range carved from ice, undulating and grand!
With wisps of white mist, it looked like a mystical fairyland!
"This is..."
Lori's eyes widened. As a top-tier heiress, she had never seen such a masterpiece!
'This must be an extraordinary knife skill, right?' she was skeptical.
"Elbert, did you make this?"
Elbert spread his hands lightly. "Just a minor skill, Ice Mountain Range!"
"But what are we supposed to eat?"
Mary and Susan widened their eyes. "Are we supposed to gnaw on the ice?"
"Good question!"
Elbert glanced at the non-existent watch on his wrist. "This sashimi took 6 minutes and 10 seconds from slaughter to plating. There's only 50 seconds left to enjoy it at its best, so I suggest you eat it quickly."
"Where is Sashimi?"
Mary leaned closer to the ice mountain and finally saw it.
Thin slices of fish were meticulously placed on the surface of the ice, so thin they were almost like paper, making them hard to notice!
It was an incredible display of knife skills.
Elbert smiled gently, picked up a slice of fish with chopsticks, and held it under the light, revealing its translucence!
He lightly dipped a corner in the sauce and placed the fish in his mouth.
He closed his eyes to savor it.
"Lovely..."
Elbert elongated the word.
"Perfect thickness, freshly slaughtered, and preserved in the ice mountain to maintain its freshest state.
"Extremely fresh!"
"And with the top-notch sauce from your estate's kitchen."
"Delicious!"
He kept talking to himself.
Mary and Susan were drooling at the sight!
"Oh my God, I can't take it anymore!"
Mary and Susan rushed forward, eagerly grabbing the fish and stuffing it into their mouths!
Elbert smiled gently. "Lori, would you like to try?"
Lori was unimpressed, "Fancy tricks, just to fool kids!"
When Lori took a slice of fish, dipped it in soy sauce, and put it in her mouth.
Her expression froze instantly.
Her mind was filled with one word: fresh!
'It was as if the fish had come back to life!'
She had never tasted such delicious sashimi and thought not even world-class chefs could achieve this!
"Are you sure this is the fish from the car?"
In Lori's impression, those were low-quality ingredients, not supposed to taste this good.
"The fish are the same, quite ordinary."
"But my knife skills are one in a hundred years!"
Elbert shrugged and walked over to the stove, and Lori finally saw it.
Behind Elbert was a huge ball of mud!
"I have to admit, your cooking skills are impressive!"
"And very impressive at that!"
"But why is there so much mud in the kitchen!"
Elbert gave a sly smile. "This is my next dish, roasted beef!"
Elbert punched the huge mud ball, creating a hole instantly!
The next moment, an overwhelming aroma filled the air!
The two little girls, who were engrossed in the sashimi, suddenly looked up and sniffed the air.
"What is that?"
"It smells so good!"
"It's beef, a huge piece of beef!"
Lori was stunned again.
'This beef smelled absolutely great!'
She exclaimed inwardly.
