Chapter 417 Ambush
Sterling leaned against the wall, watching the shadowy figure vanish, his face a mix of disbelief and awe. What just happened? This was the government building, the most secure place in Victoria! And the underground research center was top secret! Yet, we bumped into each other again! What are the odds? Seriously, what are the odds? What are you even doing here? No one would believe this if I told them! Just casually strolling in and out of a national secret site, and even saying hi to me? Sterling clutched his chest, "Theron, I need my meds!"
Three hours later, Sterling sat behind his desk, finally calming his nerves.
The phone rang. "President Prescott, this is Command from Area 52. Your esteemed guest has returned. What should we do?"
"What?" Sterling was shocked, clutching his chest again. "President Prescott, don't panic. Are you being threatened? I have a plan to deal with him!"
In the underground of Area 52, dozens of researchers slowly backed away, eyes wide, as a black blade hovered menacingly in front of each of their throats. Finally, they were forced outside the base. The black blades retracted with a whoosh.
Several blast doors slammed shut, locking the system down. The third underground level became a sealed fortress, impenetrable to anyone.
Elbert glanced at the UFO parked quietly in the distance and immediately began dismantling and modifying various equipment inside the base. Rebuilding the gene analyzer!
Two hours later, the DNA data of the pale-skinned alien became clearer. As expected, all living things follow the logic of DNA genetics.
After all, whether advanced or primitive, life needs to reproduce! Robert exclaimed repeatedly, "This thing's genes are similar to humans, also a double helix, but more refined, with fewer flaws, better suited for survival. Everything about it is adapted for a specific environment!"
"But that environment isn't Earth, which is why it died!" Elbert nodded slightly. So, there are still species barriers between planets!
Two hours later, Elbert and Robert had built a simple transmitter. It could simulate the alien's biological signals and issue commands! Essentially, it was the key to the UFO! Both Elbert and Robert were excited! They stared at the saucer before them, which appeared smooth and seamless, with no visible entrance!
According to Area 52's records, the researchers here had never entered it! In fact, a month later, they were planning to forcibly cut it open! But Robert had no experience with transmitting alien commands. He could only fumble through it!
Robert rubbed his hands together as the command key emitted a blue glow, sending out a signal. They waited quietly. Time ticked by—10 minutes... 15 minutes... The saucer remained unchanged.
Elbert frowned, and Robert looked disappointed. Did we mess up? No signal response at all! After a moment of thought, Elbert suddenly had a realization.
The saucer's records didn't list a pilot, and the thermal detectors on site, which could distinguish metal from biological matter, showed no biological bodies inside. Is it... unmanned? Is there another controller?
Elbert extended his hand, revealing a small tuft of silver hair from his wrist device labeled 'Null.' "Have we been led astray by our assumptions?" he pondered aloud. "This saucer might not belong to that strange alien! Maybe it was originally a terrestrial craft, belonging to that frozen Mayan warrior?" Robert's eyes widened. "Whoa... that's incredible! The Mayan civilization advanced their technology, built a saucer, and the saucer is actually from Earth?" "Elbert, let's study the hair!" The two rekindled their hope and began a new round of genetic analysis.
Meanwhile, around a white dome-shaped building in Base 52, a crowd gathered. This was the only exit from the underground lab. For the past four hours, Area 52 had mobilized all its resources, installing eight massive transmitters here.
They looked like giant satellite dishes, nearly twenty feet in diameter. The equipment was still being fine-tuned. Sterling was on-site, sweating bullets. This was the plan of the Area 52 defense commander.
The eight transmitters were actually oversized inhibitors. This device had been developed long ago, and Elbert had even encountered it in the illegal Hercules modification base.
By using bone peptide enzymes and electrical frequency waves, it restricted cellular activity and genetic functions. For ordinary people, it could weaken them instantly. But for modified humans, it was a power limiter. Back then, the black-and-white Joker was rendered powerless by such a device.
Normally, this equipment was considered useless because no modified human would sit idly by. But for today's situation, the device had its use. Because Elbert had been in the underground research center for nearly five hours, giving Victoria ample time to prepare. Once the equipment was ready, they could trap him like a rat in a cage.
After four hours of intense tension, Sterling gradually regained his confidence. Recklessness overcame reason, and he was back to his risky ways. God willing, this was a perfect chance to capture Paul Five.
To ensure nothing went wrong, Sterling kept ordering more of these devices from afar. The more, the better. To completely restrain Paul Five. To bring him down in an instant. Let him show off, let him stroll around.
Sterling's eyes gleamed coldly. "No one has ever dared to ignore me, and twice in one day at that! Doesn't Veridiania have a saying, 'Meeting is fate'? Well, since you're here, don't even think about leaving!"
