Chapter 294 Attack of the Dog Pack
In Connor's living room, Elbert sat up straight, looking like a deer caught in headlights.
He'd been caught red-handed, trying to take off someone's bra, and now he was just sitting there, remaining silent.
Connor had been explaining the situation for a while, and his wife Scarlett shot Elbert a suspicious look before heading inside to bandage Harper.
Elbert stared ahead, his eyes darting to Connor. "Connor, I was just..."
"Mr. Perry, I get it," Connor cut him off.
"Connor, I was just trying to treat her wounds," Elbert insisted.
"Mr. Perry, I understand. It's human nature to appreciate beauty, and it's normal to have a moment of improper thoughts. Just be more careful next time," Connor said.
Elbert gave a bitter smile.
The front door swung open, and a burly cop stormed in, scanning the room with a fierce look. "Madam, how is a saint in your house, and someone dared to desecrate her?"
Scarlett walked out of the room, holding a towel and wiping blood, signaling she was done treating Harper's wound.
"It was him, the one from Veridiania. He had evil intentions. Sir, I think he needs to confess for at least three days!" Scarlett pointed at Elbert, still fuming.
The cop frowned at Elbert, a scrawny guy from Veridiania.
He pulled out a pair of handcuffs and tossed them to Elbert. "Put these on yourself, and come with me later!"
"Madam, let me check on the saint's injuries! Don't worry, I've already notified the team, and they'll soon surround this place!" The cop said, pointing two fingers at his eyes and then at Elbert.
He adjusted his belt and ascended the stairs with a commanding presence, completely disregarding Elbert!
Elbert sighed, and suddenly, the sound of wind came from outside the window.
One by one, black figures leaped from the surrounding rooms.
They advanced on all fours, like stealthy predators, moving in utter silence.
In an instant, more than 30 figures gathered in the yard, sniffing the air through the windows!
Moments later, they locked onto the room on the second floor. Their keen sense of smell easily identified Harper's location.
These strange people became ferocious, ready to attack in groups.
Scarlett saw these figures through the window and exclaimed, "Did your police department change uniforms?"
"Uniforms? They haven't arrived yet!" The cop glanced at the yard and immediately realized something was wrong.
He pulled out his gun, went to the upstairs window, and shouted, "This place is under lockdown, leave immediately!"
The 'dog pack' completely ignored his warning. One of them suddenly sprang up, stepping on the fence and climbing up.
The cop fired repeatedly, but the scene shocked him.
The strange person dodged rapidly, avoiding all the bullets, which left him stunned.
In the blink of an eye, the modified person had already leaped to the window, clawing at the cop's throat with one hand.
At the critical moment, the modified person's eyes narrowed, and he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. Without thinking, he did a backflip, landing back among the dog pack.
More than 30 human-dog hybrids slowly approached, their backs slightly arched, eyes wary of the house's entrance.
Elbert slowly walked out. In his field of vision, data continuously locked onto each peculiar individual, conducting an analysis!
Robert Williams said, "These people should be at the early B-level, but they've undergone some inhumane modifications."
"These guys have been modified with vicious dog genes, boosting their strength and agility but killing their rationality. It's a targeted modification," Robert Williams explained.
Elbert stepped forward, and the dog pack backed off a bit, clearly spooked.
"They've got animal instincts," Robert continued. "When they sense danger, they instinctively defend themselves!"
Elbert squinted, thinking, 'Is this the arrogant force challenging countries lately?'
'So many B+ modified people? No wonder folks are scared; if they all attacked at once, hardly anyone could stand up to them!'
'And the leader of this group is a monster, turning normal people into these half-human, half-dog creatures!'
'Given the success rate of these modifications, who knows how many test subjects were sacrificed to create this team!' Elbert thought.
Low growls came from the dog pack, their eyes growing fiercer.
"Veridianian guy, they're not ordinary people, get back inside!" the cop shouted, feeling a chill as he loaded his gun.
The next moment, the dog pack, at the peak of their tension, leaped at Elbert.
"My God! What are these things? Mr. Perry will be torn to pieces!" Connor exclaimed, seeing Elbert surrounded through the window crack.
He hesitated, ready to help.
Suddenly, a weak female voice said, "Don't move, I'll go..."
It was Harper, who had woken up. She struggled to get up, wobbling towards the window.
The cop kept shooting at the dog pack, but they seemed insane, ignoring the bullets, their eyes blood-red, madly charging forward.
In their eyes, Elbert was the biggest threat, and they had to take him down immediately.
In an instant, Elbert was surrounded by more than 30 people, densely packed, obscuring him.
Just as Harper, enduring the pain, was about to rush out the window to save Elbert, a figure flew out, crashing into a wall on one side!
The stairs shook slightly, and dust fell!
Everyone looked closely. It was one of the strange people with a sunken chest.
At this moment, he slid down the wall, already dead.
After that, a series of violent crashes sounded, and Elbert's body moved sideways in a bizarre manner.
He broke free from the 'dog pack,' scattering the strange people along the way.
Elbert stood with his hands behind his back, looking at the bustling dog pack. His eyes had turned cold.
He had confirmed that these modified people were emotionless, cruel, and bloodthirsty!
Elbert slowly closed his eyes.
Then, he dashed out like a phantom, unstoppable.
Elbert unleashed his speed to its utmost limit. Despite the extraordinary agility of these cyborgs, they stood no chance of evasion in a confrontation that far exceeded their level.
A muffled sound echoed, and strange people kept flying backward, scattering far and wide.
On distant rooftops, fences, and trees, they hung limply and all motionless.
The few people on the roof were dumbfounded!
In an instant, more than 30 modified people were scattered, lying dead everywhere.
But Elbert deliberately left one alive, who kept retreating, extremely terrified of the man in white.
Elbert, with his hands behind his back, said, "I'll spare your life. Go back and tell your master to come here!"
The modified person stumbled, cautiously retreating to a certain distance, then escaped in panic.
