Chapter 301 The Hero Appears
"Hey, that's Iron Rhino!" someone yelled.
"He saved us!" another passenger chimed in.
The plane went wild with cheers.
Everyone was buzzing, still in shock from what they'd just seen.
Elbert, though, just frowned a bit. 'Another cyborg out in the open?'
Info about Iron Rhino popped into his head.
Not much there; most of his background was wiped clean, just a few random videos online.
Some folks had caught him on camera a few times, using his crazy strength to pull kids out of rubble, stopping a runaway truck with his bare hands.
Because of his insane power, people started calling him Iron Rhino.
Even though there weren't many videos, the comments and shares were off the charts.
He was the superhero of the moment.
Elbert was confused, 'Another mystery person from Victoria with no backstory?'
He thought back to the guy with the baseball cap and 'The Flash.'
There was a ton of info about them online too. Some people even started fan clubs.
After all this, Elbert felt a weird sense of unease.
Finally, the plane landed safely.
When Elbert walked into the terminal, he saw a huge crowd at the exit.
Iron Rhino showing up had caused a massive stir.
People were going nuts, snapping pics with their phones.
Even the media had shown up in no time, all trying to get a piece of Iron Rhino, who was right in the middle of it all.
"Mr. Rhino, can you tell us who you really are?" a woman asked.
"Mr. Rhino, where did your powers come from? Are you an alien or did something crazy happen to you?" another woman asked.
"Mr. Rhino! Can I get your autograph? You're amazing!" a young girl asked, super excited.
"Mr. Rhino, do you think you're the strongest man in the world?" a guy in a suit asked.
Elbert noticed the bald man with a friendly smile.
Robert had just checked all the airport's surveillance, but Iron had no flight info.
And before the whole thing went down, he was already at the airport, like he was there just for this 'rescue.'
Out of nowhere, Iron felt Elbert's cold stare.Iron turned, frowned a bit, but then smiled and said loudly, "Hey, can I help you with something?"
Everyone's eyes followed Iron's gaze.
"This guy's good-looking! But these days, it's all about the super strong guys!" someone said.
"Bro, if you want an autograph or a pic, get in line," someone else said.
People around Elbert kept pushing past him, all heading for Iron.
Elbert looked at Iron and gave a knowing smile, " I'm good."
Then, Elbert walked straight out of the airport.
Outside, a huge billboard made him stop again.
"BioGen Innovations, unlocking the secrets of human enhancement, starting a new journey!"
BioGen Innovations? Secrets of human enhancement?
What the heck happened while I was gone?
Elbert pulled out his phone and did a quick search.
It turned out that BioGen Innovations had just set up shop in Veridiania thanks to Victoria's investment policy. They were popping up all over the place.
And today, they were holding a big press conference in Wavehaven, hyping up some groundbreaking tech.
Of course, all this hype was for the public!
Elbert already had a pretty good idea of what was going on.
He remembered the cyborg hacker 'Left Shoulder' he had found before. That guy was from BioGen Innovations!
So, BioGen Innovations was into cyborg research.
Elbert shook his head, 'Are they really going to go public with cyborgs? Sterling, you reckless fool!'
He just hoped Victoria wouldn't push things too far this time. Otherwise, he couldn't just sit back and watch.
Outside the airport, an SS454 rolled up and stopped in front of Elbert.
No one seemed to notice there was no driver in this classic car.
Elbert got in, and the car started moving, passing by a bunch of BioGen Innovations billboards along the way.
Twenty minutes later, as Elbert neared Lab Graveyard, he saw four or five Mercedes sedans parked at the entrance.
A bunch of guys in black suits were scattered around, some measuring, some taking photos.
Quentin yelled, "Summer said you don't meet the three deadly reasons, so get lost!"
Summer stood nearby, looking glommy.
Just as she was about to make a move, the vintage car stopped at the entrance and Elbert stepped out slowly.
"Sir, they want to buy the graveyard and the surrounding land," Summer said as she walked up.
Elbert nodded slightly, "Are you the owner of this property?"
The leader of the men in black said arrogantly, "We are BioGen Innovations, and we plan to build a genetic research center here. As long as you're willing to sell this land, the price is not an issue!"
He had zero respect in his tone. He clearly thought money could solve everything.
Elbert nodded slightly, "It's been a while since I've seen someone this bold."
"Of course!" The leader smirked, "Even though BioGen Innovations just arrived in Veridiania, soon you'll hear our name everywhere. By noon, BioGen Innovations will be the most dazzling company in the world, making you Veridianians tremble!"
Then he added, "Buying this land from you is a small matter! Don't waste your time, just name your price! I won't even haggle," he said, looking Elbert up and down, exuding the demeanor of someone in a position of authority!
Elbert shrugged and smiled, "One hundred million dollars."
The leader sneered and muttered, "Damn bumpkin!"
He waved his hand, and one of his guys immediately brought over a box full of cash.
But Elbert looked at the cash like it was nothing and said with a grin, "I don't know if you know, but property prices in Veridiania are sky-high! And they're always priced per square foot!"
