Chapter 287 The Mine Shaft
"The drones for spraying fertilizer, and the survey plane? That's for finding water veins. All for these lands!" Elbert said with a grin.
"Really?" The mayor of Starglow City, who'd been quiet until now, suddenly perked up. "These seedlings? Are you a Veridiania scientist?"
"Yep, all thanks to Mr. Perry!" Dawn stepped up and handed over a notebook. "This is the fertilizer formula. With this, the seeds will sprout in just 4 hours!"
Elbert gave a small smile. "I also found the water veins nearby. I'll give the coordinates to Dawn."
The mayor was stunned as he took Dawn's notebook.
Having struggled with agricultural issues for years, he was gravely impressed by the power of this formula.
"This can solve the red soil problem! Almost 48% of our land is red soil. This is an unprecedented invention. I've been trying to borrow Andrastan's geological survey vehicle for ages, but no luck. This is a godsend," the mayor said, looking up in shock. "Sir, you've solved a major problem for us!"
Elbert waved his hand. "It's nothing. My original intention was to survey mineral veins!"
Saying this, he walked over to Eamon, who was still lying on the ground. "Mr. Eamon, can I buy the mine in your field?"
Dawn's father still didn't dare to look up. "Mr. Perry, from now on, I only believe in science. That place is not the blood of a demon. I am willing to give you the mine!"
Elbert sighed lightly. "It's not good to take it for free. I must pay you!"
"No need, Mr. Elbert!" Eamon slowly looked up, tears glistening. "You awakened Dawn, and that is priceless! Thank you for your gift!"
The newly arrived men were also speechless!
This young man from Veridiania had actually changed the villagers' beliefs?
The commander of the Evalia battle unit's eyes gleamed. 'What a Veridiania kid, using Andrastan equipment and scaring the AndrastanRod commander out of his wits! He must have a significant background!'
"Everybody here, you can learn these planting techniques from Dawn in the future! I need to complete my mission!" Elbert looked up at the distant mine.
The mayor of Starglow City quickly ran over. "Mr. Perry, if you need any assistance, just tell me about it. Our local government will fully cooperate!"
Elbert nodded slightly. "Help me seal off that cave entrance. No villagers are allowed near it!"
"Understood!" The mayor quickly ran to the commander. "Commander, you don't need to hesitate anymore. He is here to help us. This formula could even completely change our country's economy."
"If this news reaches the president, the president might even meet him personally! Whatever mine he wants, it's a small price to pay," the mayor urged.
The Evalia battle unit commander hesitated, glancing at the seedlings in the field and then at the villagers who practically worshipped Elbert.
He wavered. What Elbert had done was a big deal.
Solving domestic issues was way more important than winning battles.
Finally, he waved his hand, and a few men followed Elbert to seal off the cave entrance.
Dawn tagged along, worried. "Mr. Perry, there are a lot of unknowns in this mine. You..."
Elbert smiled calmly. "Don't worry, Miss Dawn."
With that, Elbert crouched down and entered the mine.
Dawn exclaimed, "Mr. Perry, you didn't even bring a flashlight!"
But Elbert's voice echoed from inside the cave. "I got this!"
Inside, Elbert could only stand and walk for a bit before the cave got super narrow. It wasn't a normal mining tunnel but more like an underground fissure.
Elbert focused his mind, and a dark light flew from his wrist, turning into a small blade that expanded the cave as he walked.
Even though it was pitch black, Elbert could see clearly. With None cutting the way, he moved smoothly.
Suddenly, a cold wind blew, and a chilling roar echoed.
As None cut through, the sound got even more piercing.
Elbert frowned slightly. Could there really be a monster?
Robert Williams chimed in, "Elbert, don't be scared! There might be other fissures deep in this cave! The airflow is bouncing around, making those sounds."
Elbert sighed slightly. He had hoped for something more thrilling!
As he walked, Robert Williams provided data, indicating that Elbert had reached about 200 feet underground.
The space suddenly opened up. In this pitch-black cave, Elbert saw a faint light in the distance.
His senses were sharp; it was a wall over two people high.
A whole sheet of liquid metal, like a mirror, adhered to the surface.
Elbert took a deep breath. He was certain this was None.
It wasn't like he imagined, flowing like water, but more like a mirror!
Elbert edged over, his right eye glowing purple, reflecting in the mirror.
He could even see his own blurry figure.
Elbert found it incredibly fascinating.
Strangely, the person in the mirror felt familiar yet a bit strange.
Elbert raised his arm, extending his index finger to gently touch it.
The person in the mirror did the same.
The image rippled like water.
Suddenly, when the image calmed again, the figure in the mirror made a different move from Elbert!
He actually clasped his hands behind his back and smiled gently.
