Chapter 346 The Great Hero

"Gosh!" Elbert panted heavily, staring at the macabre scene before him.

His heart was filled with grief and rage!

The sight was too horrific to bear!

He never expected the black-and-white Joker to make a comeback at this moment, and with so many clones!

And Steven and Jessica...

They were clearly here for Dennis, but...

Elbert closed his eyes in helpless despair!

Robert Williams: "Elbert, the decay is exhausted, it's done!"

Suddenly, he snapped his eyes open!

Elbert clenched his fists in fury!

His body was covered in radiation burns, some even cut deep into the muscle, not much better off than Steven!

But he leaped up in rage!

Gritting his teeth, he crashed through the lab door with a bang!

In the distance, the black-and-white Joker saw him and clenched its teeth with a grinding sound!

"You're the one who destroyed my body!"

It screeched, and the beasts surrounding Steven instantly turned their heads to glare at Elbert, their eyes filled with ferocity!

With a monstrous roar, they all leaped!

The bloody sight before him made Elbert's eyes nearly pop out of their sockets!

"It's all my fault; you should have been sent to hell long ago!"

Elbert roared in explosive anger!

The first black beam shot out from his sleeve!

Then, the water drop pendant on his chest rippled!

Several more black beams split out!

These black beams floated in the air before Elbert, automatically splitting into extremely thin, razor-sharp blades!

In an instant!

A hundred blades, gleaming with a dark matte finish, transformed into a storm!

Like a black tornado!

They ripped through the ferocious black-and-white Joker clones!

The black beams were sharp and silent!

They sliced into flesh effortlessly!

It was like an autumn wind sweeping through fallen leaves!

In the blink of an eye, tens of thousands of cuts!

A dozen black-and-white Joker clones, their flesh and blood scattered!

Turning into a fine mist of blood!

Only a dozen Skeletons remained on the ground!

Elbert gritted his teeth again!

His eyes blazed with anger!

Though his body was injured, his ability to sense liquid metal had grown far stronger!

With a flurry of muffled sounds, a dozen Skeletons exploded in an instant!

Almost turning to dust, with no chance of regeneration!

Elbert didn't pause for a moment!

The black storm moved like the scythe of the Grim Reaper, sweeping across the field!

The remaining Joker bodies exploded one after another!

Without mercy!

In an instant!

Everything fell silent!

All the black-and-white Joker clones were ripped to shreds! Not a single one left standing!

Elbert panted heavily!

Steven was half-kneeling on the ground, clutching his mangled body, eyes wide in horror at the scene!

His lips trembled, his throat emitted strange sounds, and with a thud, he collapsed face down!

Elbert dragged his battered body over to Dennis and Trinity, confirming they were unscathed.

Dennis was in shock, his expression wooden!

Genius or not, eccentric or not, he had never witnessed such carnage!

In his terror and dismay, his body wobbled slightly!

Elbert grasped Dennis’s small head and murmured with a heavy voice, "It's over."

Yet Dennis stared at the ground in terror.

Steven, clawing at the dirt, was crawling toward him!

Steven's legs were practically detached from the bone and flesh, unable to function!

Behind him, a long trail of blood was left!

He crawled past Jessica's motionless form, glanced briefly at her, and couldn't stop the tears from flowing!

Then, he continued to crawl.

Until he reached Dennis.

Elbert said nothing, nor did he intervene.

Steven struggled to lift his head, reaching out with blood-drenched fingers, attempting to touch Dennis.

Steven's throat emitted strange guttural sounds as if trying to speak, but it was utterly unintelligible!

Elbert gazed down, overwhelmed with sorrow.

Steven's throat, like Jessica's, had been savagely torn apart!

Steven couldn't speak at all.

He reached out his trembling hand, his face smeared with blood, forcing a weak smile while mumbling indistinctly.

But Dennis looked at him with unfamiliar eyes!

Instinctively retreating behind Elbert, hiding behind his leg, only showing a pair of confused eyes!

Steven looked up at Elbert, seemingly still trying to say something, tears streaming down his face, looking utterly miserable!

"What does Violent Bear want to do?" Dennis asked timidly.

"Well..." Elbert pursed his lips, not knowing what to say!

Finally, Steven used all his strength to place his hand on Dennis's foot!

But Dennis kicked it away, hiding again!

Steven's eyes widened, forcing a desolate smile, looking at Elbert, his eyes full of remorse, mixed with a hint of pleading.

Elbert pondered slightly, "Dennis, let him see you."

"I don't..."

For some reason, tears welled up in Dennis's eyes, and he stubbornly shook his head.

Elbert wanted to continue persuading him, but it was already too late.

Steven's head fell heavily to the ground, his gaze encompassing Dennis's figure and Jessica's body 20 feet away.

Tears silently fell from his eyes.

He could no longer hold on and died!

He died with his eyes open.

Even though he was guilty of countless crimes, he still harbored many attachments, regrets, and worries in this world.

The scene was deathly quiet.

Elbert looked up, unable to bear the tragic sight, struggling to hold back his tears.

In the distance, sirens wailed.

In that critical moment just before, Elbert had no choice but to call Leonard for help.

But the distance was too great, and they arrived late.

Ten minutes later.

Steven and Jessica's bodies were zipped into body bags, covered with white sheets.

Elbert felt a complex mix of emotions, "Dennis, don't you want to know who these two people were?"

"I already know."

Dennis quietly looked at the two bodies, his eyes unusually calm, "I can still sense it; they brought me into this world."

Hearing this.

Leonard and Trinity behind him both trembled, their hearts aching.

Dennis knew.

His biological parents had died right in front of him.

What kind of torment must this little heart be experiencing?

"But they don't deserve those titles."

Dennis clenched his fists, his body trembling slightly, "From the moment I was born, they vanished. I was trapped in a basement for four years. I never saw the blue sky, never saw the sun, and never saw my so-called parents."

"They abandoned me, left me to fend for myself."

Elbert felt a whirlwind of emotions and murmured, "Maybe they weren't good people, maybe they even killed others, but they never meant to abandon you. They had no choice."

"In every parent's heart, there's a strength for their child that nobody else can understand."

"You're still young; you don't get it."

"They've now given their lives for you."

Dennis shook his head stubbornly, "I don't need that kind of sacrifice; it means nothing!"

"Violent Bear, all I know is you broke down the iron door of the basement!"

"And then, you played chess with me in the fire!"

"Finally, you pulled me out of the abyss and showed me the world!"

"I think, if we're talking about a parent's duty, you've done more than they ever did!"

Elbert was taken aback!

He was inexplicably moved!

Is this what the child thinks?

"Violent Bear, in my eyes, you've always been that kind of hero, descending from the sky, powerful, saving others, punishing evil, and never saying much."

"It's just that you've been a bit too passive lately, and it worries me."

Dennis said, refusing to look at the two bodies again, instead turning his gaze to the distance, "Violent Bear, keep it up."

Despite Dennis's efforts to hide it.

Elbert could clearly see tears welling up in Dennis's eyes, ready to spill over.

That simple phrase, "keep it up," held so much weight.

Steven and Jessica may have been unfit.

But they were still his biological parents!

This kid watched them die right in front of him!

You can only imagine what that did to Dennis's heart!

Now, Elbert was his only support!

This stubborn kid never called him that title, but deep down, he always saw Elbert as a father!

Even while Steven was dying in front of him, he never left Elbert's side!

Elbert suddenly realized.

He had saved Dennis so many times: in the underground lab, at the FIC headquarters, on the broken bridge, and just now, descending from the sky!

This heroic image was already an indelible part of Dennis's mind!

He wanted the world to see it!

That explained  Dennis created the Black Clothes, hoping Elbert would rise as a hero!

Maybe, in every child's eyes.

A father is a towering, mighty hero!

Elbert got lost in thought for a moment.

To Dennis, was he really that kind of figure?

Eventually!

Seeing the little boy trying hard not to cry.

A spark of determination ignited in Elbert's heart!

A source of motivation that couldn't be explained!

After a long while, Elbert sighed to Leonard, "Officer Reed, please bury these two together; let them be lovers in death."

Then, Elbert ruffled the little boy's hair, "As people, we mustn't forget gratitude. When the grave is built, you'll come with me to pay your respects."

"As for me, Dennis, watch closely. I'll stick around and become a hero admired by all!"
