Chapter 300 Returning Home
At Luanda International Airport, Elbert had already hopped on his flight back home.
As for Evalia's journey, even he found it difficult to express in words.
He never thought getting back home would be such a hassle.
He sprinted the whole way, dodging everyone, and snuck back into the country.
Harper, the cyborg beauty, she totally blew Elbert's mind with her open-mindedness.
Elbert felt kinda lost.
He could stay cool facing tough enemies, but when a gorgeous woman came onto him, he freaked out!
Robert Williams chimed in, "You know, stats show that straightforward guys get all slow and their IQ drops when women chase them."
"What the heck? Who's chasing me?" Elbert shot back.
"See? You're slow to react already," Robert Williams laughed.
Elbert thought his escape plan was foolproof, enough to buy him some time.
Just then, some news on the plane's media caught his eye.
Evalia's officials were over the moon. They'd just gotten a formula for a drug that could improve their soil big time.
They were gearing up to roll out this reagent everywhere.
In the first year, it would end famine for tens of millions, a game-changer for Evalia's future.
The Evalia Agriculture Department announced this miracle drug would be called "God's Kiss."
For various reasons, they couldn't reveal the scientist's name.
But all the religious sects in Evalia agreed to call this scientist the "Saint of the Earth!"
They also said that when the "Saint of the Earth" came back to Evalia, they'd roll out the red carpet.
Some news even had photos. It was Dawn in a striped dress, standing by the farmland, holding a bottle of red reagent.
She looked at the camera with determined eyes.
The news headline read:[Dawn, the Saint of theEarth Assistant.]
Seeing this, Elbert grinned.
Was he a saint too?
The title didn't matter; helping people with their food problems and mixing reagents was no big deal for him.
But for Evalia's poor, it was a lifeline.
Elbert felt pretty good about it!
As for Elbert's identity, the Evalia War Department Commander and the Mayor of Starglow City kept their word and didn't spill the beans about him. There was no public info. about Elbert casually taking down the Perseus organization.
That was fine by him; he didn't plan on making a fuss about it.
Later, Elbert slowly pulled out the teardrop-shaped pendant, his brows knitting together.
This little thing held a big mystery. It was getting lighter and lighter.
According to Robert Williams, the liquid metal inside seemed to be getting sucked into some special dimension, and this pendant was just the doorway.
Elbert examined it closely. Its surface was pitch black, and in the sunlight, it had faint water ripples.
And the countdown on it had already ticked down 12 hours.
852:59:03.
"What happens when this time runs out?" Elbert muttered to himself.
Since having Robert Williams, there were hardly any mysteries he couldn't crack.
Robert Williams had made tons of guesses.
In theory, no one on the planet could harm Elbert. And right now, there were no signs of war, no disasters, and even the stock market was booming.
With no clues, Elbert slowly turned his head, staring out the small window at the distant barren yellow land, lost in thought.
More than twenty hours later, the plane started its descent over Veridiania. Elbert could just make out the sprawling, modern Wavehaven International Airport below.
He stretched a bit, trying to shake off the stiffness from the long flight.
Glancing at the countdown on his pendant, he saw that another 20-some hours had ticked by.
Elbert frowned slightly, thinking about all the time he'd waste traveling the world, hitting up various radiation sites.
Suddenly, a document popped up in his view: Government Building Top Secret Document No. 122.
[In 1987 and 2007, two UFOs crashed in Victoria!]
[Victoria's special forces recovered them and kept it all hush-hush!]
[No alien bodies, but the UFOs were 94% intact.]
[They're currently stored in a secret base of the Victoria War Department.]
Then, a bunch of photos of the UFOs appeared.
They resembled the tales precisely—two inverted plates, entirely gray and seamless.
Robert Williams' voice chimed in, "Got this info during the last secret disk hack at the government building!"
He added, "Elbert, how about we snag these for study? Could be our new ride!"
Robert even made a slurping sound, clearly excited.
"Robert, you're nuts," Elbert said, looking at the info. "Do you know the chaos that would cause?"
But then he rubbed his chin, "But it might be worth checking out someday."
Robert laughed, "It's a plan then!"
Suddenly, the plane jolted and started climbing again, like something was wrong.
Passengers started freaking out!
The captain's voice came over the speaker. "Ladies and gentlemen, please stay calm. Our landing runway has an emergency. We're ascending and will try to land again once it's clear."
Even with the captain's reassurances, everyone was still on edge. A plane that couldn't land was no joke.
Robert Williams jumped into action, pulling up surveillance footage near the runway.
There, in the middle of the runway, was a smoking luggage transport vehicle, inexplicably on fire. The driver had bailed, leaving it blocking the runway.
Elbert sighed in relief. It was a mess, but not unmanageable.
Then, a sudden explosion echoed from the ground! Something inside the vehicle had blown up, making the fire even bigger. This heightened the challenge of clearing the obstacles!
The passengers saw this and started screaming.
Elbert hesitated, thinking about stepping in.
But then, out of nowhere, a figure sprinted onto the scene, moving at an insane speed.
This guy didn't care about the fire. He lowered his head and shouldered the burning vehicle.
What happened next was unreal.
The guy's strength was off the charts. He pushed the vehicle over thirty feet away, clearing the runway in an instant.
He stood there, giving a thumbs-up, signaling that it was all clear.
