Chapter 95 How much are you offering?
Some footsteps were heard outside the door. Lysander and Gavin pushed the door and entered. Alex immediately stood up, beaming, and extended his hand.
"Lysander..." he said.
But Lysander looked around and asked, "Who is Elbert?"
"I am Elbert, nice to meet you, Lysander." Elbert nodded slightly.
"Oh my, look at you, such a talented and promising young man!" Lysander bypassed Alex and shook Elbert's hand firmly, leaving Alex standing there, stunned and embarrassed.
Then, Lysander personally moved a chair and sat down very close to Elbert and Alex. The dignified President of Wavehaven University, Lysander Frost, now seemed very eager.
"Let's talk about that piece of land!" Lysander's eyes sparkled. "Alex, you first. What's your offer?"
Alex puffed out his chest immediately upon hearing this. He sneered inwardly, thinking, 'These old scholars, always so high and mighty! In the end, it's all about money. Asking for the price? As long as they ask, it's easy to handle. There's nothing money can't solve!'
Alex rubbed his hands together and said seriously, "Lysander, our group is very sincere about this piece of land. In the future, it will be developed into one of the most luxurious villa areas in the suburbs of Wavehaven! Of course, your piece of land alone isn't enough. Our group is very powerful; we are acquiring 2 square kilometers of land around it and are in negotiations, which will soon be concluded!"
Lysander nodded meaningfully. "Hmm, just tell me the price."
Alex became even more confident! He glanced mockingly at Elbert and made a decision in his heart. Then, Alex gritted his teeth and squeezed out two words.
"100 million!"
With the price given, Alex was extremely arrogant!
'Elbert, I'm offering twice the market price; let's see how you compete with me! And as for that greedy old man Lysander, this price is high enough to make you unable to refuse!' thought him.
Alex stared intently at Lysander's expression, quietly waiting for the answer. Lysander smacked his lips lightly and said, "Got it." Then, Lysander looked at Elbert, full of enthusiasm. "Elbert, what about you? How much can you offer?"
Alex was also stunned.
'This Lysander is really greedy! Does he have to compare? Fine, I'll wait!' thought him.
Elbert's expression was troubled. He stroked his chin and smiled. "I can only offer 2 million."
Lysander slapped the coffee table in front of him, stood up abruptly, flushed his face, and excitedly shouted. "2 million? Great, it's settled!"
Alex was stunned.
'Is there something wrong with my ears? Did I hear that right?' thought him.
"Lysander, you must be mistaken. He said 2 million! Not 200 million, and I offered 100 million!" Alex's eyes widened, and he shouted.
At this moment, Lysander Frost looked completely justified. "Yes, I didn't hear anything wrong. It was 2 million, right? That's enough. That house has been abandoned for a long time; it's been our storage for discarded items! A dilapidated warehouse selling for 2 million is a good deal, right? Don't you think so, Gavin?"
Gavin, who had been standing beside him, also nodded in agreement. "I think it's completely reasonable."
Alex's expression suddenly turned extremely ugly. He clutched his chest and stammered. To outsiders, it looked like he was having a heart attack!
"Are you kidding me? Are you all in on this to mess with me?" he yelled.
"Alex, this matter is decided! We will sell the 'Experimental Graveyard' to Elbert for 2 million! There is no problem with that!" Lysander glared at Alex, then turned to Elbert with a smile. "Elbert, let's talk about the patent next, shall we?"
"Patent? What patent?" Alex's ears were very sharp, immediately catching the key point.
Gavin's face changed, and he scolded, "Alex, since you heard it's about the patent, you should know this is confidential. Leave now!"
Under the scolding of Gavin and Lysander, Alex had no choice but to leave.
As he was about to leave, he heard Elbert chuckle.
"What are you laughing at? Let me tell you, even if you buy the Experimental Graveyard, it won't help! All the surrounding land is mine. I'll isolate you, cut off your water and electricity!" Alex gritted his teeth, his eyes seemingly about to shoot sparks!
Elbert said calmly, "It's really unfortunate; I was just about to tell you this! Just five minutes ago, my assistant bought all the land around the Experimental Graveyard for me!"
Alex was shocked. "How is that possible!"
"Why not? Isn't it all about money? Your group only offered 3 billion, and I offered 5 billion! The other party is a private company; of course, they will sell to the highest bidder!" Elbert finished speaking, looking at Alex with a faint smile.
"That's even more impossible! How can you have so much money? You're just a poor guy, your mom is just a worker!" Alex shouted hysterically.
Suddenly, his phone received a message: [The new real estate project has completely failed, the land has been bought by someone else, and all our investments are lost!]
Alex stood there, dumbfounded!
"Elbert, why are you doing this?" he scolded.
Elbert pursed his lips. "Well, I just want some peace."
Alex was completely stunned, like being struck by lightning!
"Did you ruin my project for such a simple reason?"
He muttered continuously. "You crushed me in college! And now, you humiliate me like this! I thought I was already very rich, but how could you bring up 5 million? That's impossible! I can't accept this..."
Alex didn't finish his last sentence. Gavin pushed him out of the office and closed the door!
Sitting on the sofa, watching his friend leave, he couldn't help but feel a bit melancholic. He sighed and said, "I didn't mean to humiliate you like this..."
