Chapter 51 Important Guests of the Darkmoon Syndicate
"Elbert, let's leave early today. We have important guests visiting the company."
Elbert was stretching in the Brown Family estate when he suddenly heard Lori's voice from behind. He turned around and was taken aback. Lori was walking over with a lunch box.
Today, she was dressed in an elegant black dress, with her long hair draped over her shoulders instead of in a ponytail. She looked more mature and sophisticated. Most importantly, she was wearing makeup.
In Elbert's memory, Lori had always been makeup-free.
'She usually doesn't care about her appearance and doesn't bother to dress up. It seems that today's guest is indeed quite important,' thought he.
Elbert shook his head and sent a message to Alvin: [4 PM, Skyrise Tower.]
In the car, Lori placed the lunch box next to Elbert. "We left in a hurry today, and you probably didn't have time to eat. The nanny made these pancakes." Her voice was soft.
"What's going on today? A sudden change of heart?" Elbert smirked. "When someone is overly attentive, there's definitely something wrong."
"There's nothing wrong. I know you can eat a lot. There are 30 pancakes here; let's see if you can finish them," Lori retorted, annoyed. Elbert chuckled mischievously, driving the luxury car with one hand and eating pancakes with the other.
"Is this because I become a successful man?"
"Stop bragging yourself." Lori turned her head and looked out the window, exasperated.
"Energy supply detected, DNA optimization increased by 0.2%."
"Energy supply detected, the new human body refinement increased by 0.1%."
Robert's voice echoed.
Five minutes later, Elbert had devoured all 30 pancakes. Lori was no longer surprised after seeing this many times. After a brief silence, Lori finally asked, "Elbert, where do you get all your money?"
Elbert thought for a moment, then tilted his head and said, "I co-founded a company with some friends. It's called Creator Company."
"Creator Company?" Lori sighed, thinking the name didn't sound promising.
"If you need any help, you can tell me. If you want my trust, you have to trust me, too. There's no need to put on a brave face." Lori's tone was unexpectedly gentle. She seemed to be trying to give the man in front of her some dignity.
Last night, she carefully inquired about Mary and Susan's experiences at the casino. Elbert was gambling with people at the casino, talking about billions in bets, but no one had ever seen him actually take out any money.
'In an underground casino, nothing is official. Who knows what a billion, or ten billion, really means? After all, what you hear might be false; only what you see is real. A hundred billion in cash deposits is too shocking.'
After thinking for one night, Lori still couldn't believe it. She didn't think it made sense for something like that to happen to Elbert.
'What's with this woman today? It’s too hard to figure her out,' thought Elbert.
He scratched his head. "If you put it that way, I do have a few secrets to tell you."
Lori suddenly became interested. "What secrets?"
"I'm a pretty good singer." Elbert grinned, cleared his throat, and prepared to sing.
Lori instantly deflated. "No, thanks, I don't want to hear it. I'm focusing on driving."
The FutureTech Group was different from usual today. On the way upstairs, many employees were eagerly waiting. They seemed to be expecting someone important. Lori arrived at her office and instructed her secretary to prepare tea and coffee. She was also waiting expectantly. In a nearby room, Elbert watched Lori through a glass window, feeling puzzled. Beside him, Carol was excited, rubbing her hands together. The perfume she was wearing today was so strong it almost made Elbert tear up.
At that moment, two people pushed open the door to Lori's office. Leading the way was a man in a British suit, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, looking elegant and refined. Behind him was a man around forty with a shrewd look, but his mouth was bruised, and he had a bandage on it. They were Rex and his sidekick.
Seeing Willard Ramirez, Elbert smirked. The Black Fox's bounty was indeed powerful. Even though it was early in the morning, it seemed Willard had already lost a tooth. But these two idiots were obviously not the people Lori was waiting for.
Rex entered the office and smiled faintly at Lori. After sitting down, he casually glanced around the office. Suddenly, he frowned and said, "Lori, where are the three vases Mr. Simmons gave you?"
Lori smiled apologetically. "They accidentally got broken."
"Broken?" Rex sat up and scolded, "Those valuable vases, who broke them?"
Lori said helplessly, "Elbert did. On his first day in the office, he broke all three vases."
Upon hearing the name, a flash of anger crossed Rex's face.
Rex suddenly turned around. Through the glass wall, he looked at Elbert sitting in the secretary's room. Elbert showed a bright smile and waved at him from a distance. Even Lori was a bit stunned. Elbert's handsome face, combined with such a sincere smile, was indeed somewhat innocent and charming.
At this moment, Rex's mouth twitched with hatred as he gritted his teeth.
'Here are so many things in the room. The first time he came, he didn't touch anything. But he had to break the key part of my Doomweaver's Veil Array. He did it on purpose. This guy is definitely not ordinary.' Rex thought with a cold smile.
In Rex's eyes, no matter how warmly Elbert smiled, he only saw mockery on his face. 'Damn it, why hasn't Black Fox taken action yet. I don't want to see this guy for another day.' Thought him.
However, Rex was very shrewd. He had to keep up appearances. He stiffly raised his hand, preparing to return Elbert's gesture. But Elbert suddenly stopped smiling, turned to Carol, and beckoned with his finger.
"Carol, come here. I have a question for you."
"What is it?"
Rex's raised hand froze in mid-air. His face turned red with anger.
'Ignoring me? And flirting with a woman?' he suppressed his anger.
But Elbert in the next room completely ignored Rex and asked Carol with a smile, "Carol, what's with the big ceremony today? Who are we waiting for?"
"You don't know?" Carol leaned in, her eyes wide. "Do you know the singer Paul? He's coming to our company soon."
