Chapter 374 Welcome to Join
18 days later.
Elbert let out a long breath and lifted his head from the workbench. Over the past few days, while overseeing the construction of Phantom Island, he had been busy crafting several intricate pieces of equipment in the Lab Graveyard.
Standing quietly beside the workbench were Spring, Summer, Autumn, Warm Winter, and Cold Winter, their eyes gleaming with anticipation. Warm Winter, who had been injured by Arc, had fully recovered after 20 days of rest, leaving only a scar on his neck.
Elbert looked at the equipment on the table and smiled, "These are gifts for you. Get used to them quickly. Next, I'll be enhancing your physical abilities."
"Thanks, Elbert!" Despite their usual indifference, the siblings couldn't hide their excitement as they gathered around the equipment.
Satisfied, Elbert turned and walked towards the graveyard's exit. On the way, he took the young boy's hand and said softly, "You've always wanted to visit the tech island, right? Today, I'll make that happen."
The boy nodded enthusiastically.
As they pushed open the Lab Graveyard's door, they were greeted by the sight of several figures standing in the morning sunlight.
"Mr. Perry, we came as soon as we got your message!" the figures said in unison.
Elbert nodded slightly, "Thanks for coming, everyone."
Three burly men stepped forward, slightly bowing, "Mr. Perry, one of us quit the Brown family, one retired from the military, and one dropped out of school to support you."
Elbert nodded in acknowledgment.
Then, four young figures laughed, "Mr. Perry, we left BioGen Innovations Academy as soon as we heard your message! We're here to join you!"
A woman in a red dress adjusted her long hair and said softly, "FIC International Agent work has become dull, dealing with trivial matters every day. I'm tired of it."
Another woman in a black dress nodded slightly, "Sir, Melissa is at your service without hesitation."
From a distance, a figure sitting on the steps with a baseball bat shouted, "I'll do whatever you want, as long as you keep me looking cool!"
Spring, Summer, Autumn, Warm Winter, and Cold Winter emerged from the lab with their new equipment, joining the group.
Elbert looked at everyone and took a deep breath, "Joining my Punisher Organization means giving up your nationality and identity."
The figure with the baseball bat shrugged, "What's the use of nationality? I've always roamed freely across countries, living without constraints. It's great!"
"Nationality is just a shackle, making people hesitant and fearful."
Everyone nodded in agreement, "Mr. Perry, we'll follow your lead."
Elbert felt moved. These people, from various backgrounds, had come together at his call, some even abandoning their past lives.
Elbert nodded slightly, his gaze sweeping across their faces, "No need for more words. Welcome, everyone!"
With a thought, Elbert erased all their online records, official files, and identity information. They were now free from any constraints.
The sound of an engine roared from the sky as a large transport helicopter slowly descended. The group boarded the helicopter, heading 14 miles offshore.
Moments later, the helicopter flew over Phantom Island. At the center of the island, a large fan-shaped building opened its skyward gate. The helicopter descended into the building, and the gate closed behind them.
They disembarked into a vast, well-lit indoor space with a metal floor. In front of them were 14 large metal pods, each with a rotating, glowing cube.
"Do you trust me?" Elbert asked, standing before the pods.
"Mr. Perry, we'll follow your lead. We'll take any risks without complaint," they replied in unison.
Elbert smiled, "Good. My modification technology may not boast extraordinary results, but I guarantee a 100% success rate."
Under Elbert's guidance, everyone entered their respective pods. The pods ranged from 3rd to 5th tier cubes, with 3rd tier for initial modifications, 4th tier for enhancements, and 5th tier for awakening special abilities.
They entered the pods, glanced at Elbert, and closed their eyes. The pods sealed, and the glass windows fogged up. The cubes began to glow and spin rapidly.
Elbert narrowed his eyes, waiting patiently. The young boy beside him watched curiously.
"Why is there a pod missing for Paul Three and Quentin?" a strange voice interrupted.
Elbert sighed and glared at him, "You just underwent modification. Your DNA hasn't stabilized, and your body hasn't adapted. Further modification could kill you."
"I don't believe it," Quentin muttered, bored.
In the empty space, the sound of high heels echoed. A young woman in a lab coat approached, glancing at the active pods in surprise.
She walked up to Elbert, "Paul Three, you started them already?"
This young woman was Briana, the girlfriend of Gemini APP network engineer Walter. Elbert had met her once and discovered she was a skilled modification doctor with a good reputation. He invited her to join the base, making her the only non-Northern Sea Pavilion staff member.
"Paul Three, Walter said your matters are always significant, so I had to support you. I even postponed my wedding to come to work. But..."
Briana looked at the pods, hesitating, "Your technology seems to just match the best DNA. I doubt it can create powerful warriors. And without any testing, modifying so many at once could be disastrous. I can't handle it alone."
Elbert smiled, "Briana, you can learn the technology slowly. For now, ensure our internal records are clear."
Briana was puzzled, "Records? What should I record now?"
Elbert replied calmly, "Record the strength of our Punisher Organization."
Briana sighed, "Alright, Paul Three."
Three hours later, Elbert went to inspect the island. Dennis was missing, Quentin was asleep, and Briana was dozing off while watching the inactive pods.
Suddenly, Briana's modification level tester beeped. One of the pods slowly opened, and a figure emerged. More pods opened in succession.
Briana's tester beeped loudly. She woke up and checked the first pod, her eyes widening. The progress bar for C-level strength was maxed out, indicating D-level strength.
Briana was shocked. She checked another pod, finding E-level strength.
Briana was completely unsettled. This represented theoretical heights and the fantasies of chemists. It shouldn't exist.
Her hands trembled as she checked more pods. Amidst the white mist, she saw a boy with a shining arm.
The tester's beeping extended into a continuous tone, the display going haywire before stopping abruptly. The tester crashed.
Briana stood frozen, staring at the boy in disbelief and fear. The current modification instruments only measured up to E-level. She never expected to use the highest scale, but the boy's strength exceeded the range, his combat power off the charts!
