Chapter 263 Time's Up
Elbert glanced at his wrist, no watch, and gave a slight nod. "Time's up."
Jeffery looked shocked. "We've only been talking for 10 minutes, how is time up?"
"Gary's been waiting forever. Time to head back and chill."
Elbert turned slightly, staring off into the distance.
Jeffery let out a sigh, thinking, 'This guy breaks promises like it's nothing.'
But Jeffery's face quickly got serious, and he signaled to the ApexGuardians.
All 283 members of the ApexGuardians snapped to attention and saluted.
They scattered instantly, each rushing to their tents.
1 minute and 50 seconds later, they were fully geared up, in camo combat uniforms, with jungle face paint, and weapons slung over their shoulders.
They quickly assembled and lined up.
Elbert gave a slight nod. Pretty fast!
No issues with the basics!
Then, 30 stayed to guard the base, while Jeffery, with 253 ApexGuardians, Elbert, and Summer, headed straight into the jungle.
Once in the jungle, it was like the ApexGuardians' playground. Each warrior moved like a panther, even with heavy firearms on their backs, they were still super quick.
Even at 70, Jeffery was as sharp as ever!
During this time, the ApexGuardians kept sneaking glances at Elbert and Summer, secretly competing, comparing jungle cross-country speeds.
But Elbert and Summer stayed cool, not showing off their skills.
Yet, they kept up with the team just fine.
"Red Brow, why do I feel like these two are going easy on us?" a warrior whispered.
"Are you kidding? This is the tropical jungle, my turf! He's a city guy! Huh? Where'd he go?" Red Brow was stunned.
Elbert and Summer were nowhere to be seen!
They had already crossed the border by about five miles.
When Elbert saw the distant village, he sped up instantly, leaping between the trees!
Summer's face was serious, following close behind!
2 minutes later, the ApexGuardians reached the ambush point.
Elbert and Summer were already there, eyes narrowed, scoping out the village from afar.
'My Goodness! Instant sprint? How would this be on the battlefield?'
All the members were shocked.
Elbert's combat instincts kicked in, sensing several powerful forces in the village.
He said in a low voice, "The enemy's not as weak as we thought. This is the first time I've seen so many B+ modified humans, at least 20 of them!"
Jeffery's brows furrowed instantly.
Gray Bear said in a low voice, "Sir, here's the plan: I'll lead Groups 1 and 2 for a frontal assault, Groups 3 and 4 will flank, Group 5 will go around the back, and the rest will provide covering fire."
Jeffery hesitated.
The village ahead looked weak and easy to attack from a distance, with many armed guards patrolling back and forth.
But how did Elbert figure out there were B+ modified humans inside?
20 B+ modified humans? There shouldn't be such a force on the border!
Robert Williams said, "Elbert, something's off about this place! The plants here are weird! Like, those banana trees' trunks are twisted, and the fan leaves are way bigger than normal! Weak plants have already withered and died! There must be some kind of radiation or rays nearby, causing genetic mutations! Elbert, look at your feet!"
Elbert looked down as he heard this.
A centipede, about a foot long, crawled by, its antennae dark red, and its fangs twice as big as usual!
Robert Williams said, "Centipede, a member of the subphylum Myriapoda, usually about an inch long, with a lifespan of about a year! This one is way beyond that! It's a genetic mutation!"
Elbert frowned slightly.
Yeah, Gary definitely came here for something!
Elbert said in a low voice, "You all stay back. Summer and I will go! Don't do anything stupid!"
"What are you talking about? There's at least a mile of open ground in front of this village, with like 30 guards. It's easy to defend and hard to attack. Are you trying to get yourself killed by going alone?" Red Brow said bluntly!
Elbert said lightly, "Don't worry!"
With that, he stood up from the bushes, hands behind his back, and started walking slowly.
Summer did the same!
Elbert's white shirt stood out like a sore thumb in the green jungle, instantly catching the village guards' attention!
Red Brow panicked. "This guy's gonna get himself killed! Covering fire!"
Jeffery held Red Brow back!
Red Brow said, "Sir, if he dies here, how can we, the ApexGuardians, face anyone?"
Jeffery shook his head cautiously, but his palms were sweating!
"Elbert is not an ordinary person, he knows what he's doing!"
Red Brow was impatient. "I know he's a modified human, but he can't just stroll in like this! He's taking a walk!"
But as Elbert stepped out of the bushes, his lips moved slightly, silently saying, "Clear the obstacles."
At least two miles away on a hill, a thick banana leaf and weeds perfectly hid a figure.
She clearly read Elbert's lips through a high-powered scope and instantly pushed aside the banana leaf in front of her, revealing herself!
An 18-year-old girl in camouflage, with a calm and stern face!
Her cheeks were painted with camouflage, and a black beret with a metal badge engraved with a dagger hung on it!
She lay prone on the ground.
Four sniper rifles lined up in front of her!
The king of heavy snipers, the Barrett M82A1.
The king of range, the McMillan Tac-50.
The king of single shots, the Sauer SSG3000.
The king of rapid fire, the Heckler & Koch PSG1.
Four of the world's top ten sniper rifles!
A tender grass in front of her swayed gently with the breeze.
She instantly judged the wind direction!
Her eyes narrowed, sharp as an eagle, a glint of light flashed!
She gently placed her shoulder on the Barrett M82A1!
This sniper was born deaf, but those sharp eyes of hers took vision to the next level!
Three years ago, she was famous in the international mercenary organization, known as the single-soldier reaper!
With her cover, one could come and go freely in hell!
But then, as Elbert walked forward with his hands behind his back, he was instantly spotted by a guard on the second floor of the village!
The guard, holding an AK, shouted and fired directly!
A muffled sound!
The girl, looking thin, didn't move an inch under the powerful recoil of the Barrett M82A1!
The guard's head exploded instantly!
The girl's technique was godlike.
In a fraction of a second, she switched to the rapid-fire king, the Heckler & Koch PSG1!
As Elbert and Summer strolled leisurely, red flowers bloomed in the village!
Amidst the lush green mountains and crystal-clear waters, the ancient village built of black wood looked like a painting.
