Robert added, "I guess that's how it survives near the reactor! It's slow metabolism means the radiation doesn't kill it, it just absorbs it bit by bit!"
Elbert was intrigued!
He cautiously approached the sloth.
Robert warned, "I wouldn't suggest killing it while it sleeps. It might wake up. This is its territory, we can't beat it here!"
Elbert's body still ached from the intense radiation.
He asked, "How long do you think it'll sleep?"
Robert replied, "A few hours or a few days, hard to say."
"Then this is our chance!" Elbert said, taking out four wallet-sized black slabs from his belt. With a thought, the liquid metal on them receded!
Elbert placed the slabs on the ground in four positions, then sat in the center!
These devices were what he had Quentin bring from the Lab Graveyard!
Elbert used to need a lead-lined chamber to absorb radiation.
But seeing the crystal membrane on the Evalia Holy Stone refract light had inspired Robert!
