Chapter 422 Disaster
"It's just a big ol' catfish. In waters like these, where there haven't been any predators for 30 years, it's not unusual to find fish that live a long time!"
"I've seen 60-foot pythons and spiders the size of footballs in the Equatorian jungle!"
"Big or not, they're still just animals. Nothing to get all worked up about!"
Wall stood like a hero, one foot on the massive catfish's body.
Everyone watched in awe.
This guy might be a bit over-the-top, but he's got guts!
The female staff member was practically swooning.
John clapped enthusiastically. "No matter what, that's still a six-foot fish. It must've put up a fight! Captain Wall, taking it down, you really deserve the title of Lumaria's top bodyguard!"
"You're too kind!"
Wall puffed out his chest and looked at Lisa. "Ms. Brown, with me around, you can film without a worry in the world!"
Lisa's eyes sparkled as she nodded slightly.
Meanwhile, the live stream on the phone kept rolling.
A muscle-bound guy wrestling a catfish?
The viewers in the live stream were just as amazed!
Lisa and John headed back to the director's tent.
But the catfish was so ridiculously huge that Director John decided it shouldn't be eaten!
Wall and Bob, feeling bored, started poking around in the grass again.
"This one's a doozy!"
Wall emerged from the grass, holding a rat by the tail.
Everyone felt a wave of disgust.
The rat was about the size of a normal one, roughly two inches long.
But it was a mutant!
It had two heads and four small, red eyes!
The rat was still alive, struggling in the air as Wall held it up.
Wall, now hooked on showing off, displayed the rat in various ways.
The prop master in the crew's eyes lit up!
This could make a great prop!
The crew bought the rat for $50 and locked it in a small metal cage.
But John also told Wall and Bob to keep an eye on the prop to prevent any danger.
Ten minutes later.
Wall was extremely frustrated.
Squeak, squeak...
The double-headed rat's cries were driving him nuts!
Wall turned around, watching the rat desperately screeching, jumping, and gnawing at the cage with its sharp teeth.
"You little monster, no matter how much you scream, you can't escape!
"So annoying!"
Wall pulled out a knife and started banging the rat with the flat side.
The rat's cries became even more pitiful!
Just then.
The grass around the crew's campsite began to move erratically!
It was like a chaotic wind was blowing the knee-high wild grass in all directions!
People were still oblivious!
Finally, a fist-sized head poked out from the grass near the camp!
"What?"
"Another rat?"
Wall stood up with his knife, chuckling as he walked forward!
Then.
The rat continued to crawl forward, revealing more of its body!
Two inches, four inches, sixteen inches...
Wall froze, his scalp tingling!
This gray rat was a full two feet long!
It suddenly stood up, letting out a strange cry!
Its eyes were blood-red, and its mouth was full of fangs!
Wall's face changed, and he pulled out his gun, blasting the rat to pieces!
But the next moment.
A scene of extreme horror unfolded!
"Everyone, be careful!"
Wall's legs trembled as he shouted!
The entire crew was stunned. "What's going on now?"
But when they saw the situation around them, they were all terrified, backing away!
The grass was now filled with crimson eyes!
A swarm of giant rats stood up from the grass!
They covered at least several hundred feet of the grass!
Even more frightening, the small camp was already surrounded by the giant rats!
Then, the standing rats let out ear-piercing screeches!
Some of the more timid girls covered their ears, crouching on the ground, trembling!
"Don't be afraid, everyone, I'll scare them off!"
A bodyguard, looking cautious, pulled out a rifle from his back and advanced on the rat swarm, firing away!
Sure enough, the rat swarm was blasted open!
But it didn't last long. The bodyguard suddenly screamed!
A giant rat had somehow snuck up to his feet, tearing a chunk of flesh from his leg!
The bodyguard howled in pain, stumbling and falling!
In the blink of an eye, countless giant rats swarmed over the bodyguard, covering him completely!
From a distance, he looked like a human figure made entirely of rats!
His body twitched, his screams growing fainter by the second!
In less than half a minute, the rats retreated, leaving behind only a bloody skeleton, stripped of flesh and organs!
The crew finally grasped the horror they were up against!
A swarm of mutated killer rats!
"Everyone, get together!" Wall yelled frantically, grabbing a gasoline can from the car!
He poured gasoline around the grass and set it ablaze!
The flames spread quickly, forming a protective ring of fire around them!
The rat swarm squeaked in distress!
The air filled with the stench of burning fur!
Everyone huddled together, watching in terror, praying the fire would save them!
But then.
What happened next was chilling!
The rat swarm kept pouring out of the grass!
Some giant rats caught fire and died.
But others trampled over their burning bodies, continuing to advance!
Many giant rats were ignited by each other, but they didn't care, trampling over one another, pushing forward!
The fire roared, the giant rats swarmed!
Everyone was stunned!
Finally, someone couldn't handle the pressure, breaking away from the group, sprinting to a distant car, locking the doors!
But the giant rats were the first to swarm those vehicles!
The car tires burst under the rats' sharp teeth!
The car windows were gnawed to pieces!
The people inside watched in despair as the rats swarmed in!
After a few short screams, the people inside were reduced to skeletons once more!
Everyone was petrified!
Some even wet themselves!
The giant rats seemed capable of devouring everything, crawling closer and closer!
The group's space shrank to less than 30 feet!
The bodyguards' bullets were spent, and although they killed many rats, it was nothing compared to the overwhelming numbers!
The group spotted a large tree nearby!
They scrambled to climb up!
There was almost no place left to stand, and the tree was their last hope!
Wall, being quick, grabbed Lisa at a critical moment!
He led the way, climbing desperately, when his hand suddenly touched something soft!
He nearly fell from the tree!
He looked at his hand, covered in gray powder, itching terribly!
It turned out he had grabbed a giant moth that had been perched on the tree!
The moth's gray body blended perfectly with the bark, making it hard to spot!
And the moth was at least two feet long!
Wall felt a wave of nausea!
But he couldn't worry about that now, climbing desperately to the top!
Below, at least three or four people were too slow, getting pounced on by the giant rats, reduced to skeletons!
Now, out of the 20 or so crew members, only about ten were left clinging to the tree!
Wall, Bob, Lisa, John, and a few other staff members!
They all trembled!
The ground below was swarming with giant rats, squeaking and screeching!
Looking out, at least a mile around was filled with the surging rats!
More were gathering from afar!
Everyone was in despair!
The scene was terrifying, sending shivers down their spines!
A girl from the crew suddenly lost her footing, falling from the tree!
Right before everyone's eyes, she was instantly engulfed by the rat swarm, devoured completely!
Someone couldn't help but vomit!
Everyone stared wide-eyed, their expressions filled with terror!
Several minutes passed, and the giant rats below didn't climb!
They screeched and fidgeted, extremely uneasy!
Occasionally, they glanced up at the tree trunk!
There seemed to be something there that made them wary, not daring to approach!
The scene was bizarre and eerie!
On a barren tree in the wilderness, seven or eight trembling figures clung on.
Below the branches, the ground was covered with countless killer giant rats!
Numerous crimson eyes watched them!
Even the brave Wall was now pale-faced.
He deeply regretted it!
Entering the Galaxy District was the worst decision of his life!
