Chapter 456 New Magician
"Elbert!"
Robert was practically bouncing with excitement. "The more I think about it, the more amazing this power seems. Silicon dioxide—it's sand, dirt, rocks!"
"It's everywhere!"
"With this ability, as long as you're on land, it's your domain!"
Elbert pressed his lips together, staying silent.
It was only now that Elbert understood everything.
He could control sand, which was why his bases were all established in deserts.
But with such a power, wouldn't he be invincible in the desert?
Robert reassured him, "Don't worry! That guy's got issues. He has such a powerful ability, but doesn't know how to use it. He just turns into an animal. Elbert, we need to figure out a way to get his DNA!"
"There are some things in this world that are intolerable, like a magician having his tricks exposed!" Herschel said darkly.
Unexpectedly, blood started to trickle from his nose, a result of his earlier self-punishment.
He quickly wiped it away and rummaged through his bag.
The next moment, he pulled out a grenade!
And it had already been primed!
"Huh?"
"Catch!"
Herschel flung his hand, and the leather glove slipped off, revealing sand hidden inside. The glove, like a human hand, clutched the grenade and hurled it toward Elbert!
Herschel still had layers of gloves on his hands.
Elbert frowned. A magician always has tricks up his sleeve!
In the next moment, Elbert caught the flying 'hand,' separating the grenade from the glove, and encased the grenade in liquid metal.
With a muffled thud, the grenade exploded, leaving only a puff of smoke and causing no harm.
Elbert looked at the glove in his hand, stained with Herschel's nose blood.
His feelings were mixed.
"Robert, do you think Herschel is a double agent, trying to get himself killed?"
Robert laughed.
A beastly roar echoed from the sky as Willow descended.
Elbert handed the glove to Willow. "Willow, take this back to the Celestial Pioneer."
Willow, looking disgusted, grabbed the glove with its massive claws and leaped away.
The Celestial Pioneer had equipment sent by Quentin that could analyze DNA!
Herschel was utterly bewildered!
"That mutated sloth!"
"How is it here?"
"Did you kill my vice president?"
Herschel's expression shifted from terror to excitement. "I underestimated you. The show's over. Now, I'm going to kill you!"
With Herschel's roar, the surrounding sand began to tremble!
The stage beneath his feet slowly disappeared, and the sand structures behind him began to dissolve and then reassemble, forming floating spikes behind him!
Each spike was ten feet long, with hundreds in total, floating menacingly behind him!
Herschel pointed with one hand!
Countless spikes shot forward with a whistling sound!
The next moment, the impact was deafening, and a cloud of yellow sand erupted!
Elbert, encased in liquid metal, stood immovable at the storm's center.
His focus was on the DNA model of Herschel in his view.
Earlier, Elbert had instructed Willow via the Celestial Pioneer's communication system to place the glove in the analysis equipment.
"Sigh... I'm disappointed," Robert said, sounding dejected. "Herschel's ability to control silicon is much weaker than I thought. He can only control high-purity sand in the desert."
Elbert smiled lightly. "Robert, our strength is on a whole different level compared to this lunatic."
The spikes' impact was like an explosion!
Herschel watched the flying sand with a sinister grin!
This time, you should be dead and buried!
But as the dust settled, Elbert stood there, unharmed, smiling.
He exhaled slowly. "I've watched your performance long enough. How about I show you one?"
"You! You're not dead?"
Herschel gathered the sand again, gritting his teeth. "What can you perform?"
Elbert slowly raised his arm, and a small clump of yellow sand at his feet began to float!
Herschel's eyes widened. "You... How is this possible? You're a genetic evolver who can also control sand?"
Elbert's expression was calm. "Of course, it's quite simple."
As Elbert manipulated a small clump of sand, a rumbling sound came from behind him!
Sand spikes, each twenty feet tall, rose from the ground!
Herschel was utterly horrified. "This... This is impossible! Your ability is similar to mine!"
Elbert walked slowly. "Of course, I made some improvements."
He touched one of the sand spikes, and as his hand's temperature rose, the spike turned red-hot!
It began to ripple like magma!
After a moment, Elbert raised his hand, and the spike quickly cooled, pieces of charred material flaking off.
Beneath the charred surface, a crystalline structure began to emerge!
As the charred material fell away, the spike shrank slightly but became semi-transparent like crystal!
In the sunlight, it was dazzling!
Elbert smiled slightly and moved to touch the next spike!
Herschel was completely dumbfounded!
"This... What kind of magic is this?"
"This doesn't make sense. It's impossible!"
As Elbert moved, each sand spike turned into a large 'crystal'!
They were both brilliant and incredibly sharp!
Elbert smiled. "It's basic chemistry. Silicon dioxide crystallizes when heated, turning sand into the glass we commonly see."
"Though it's my first time, the glass shape is a bit ugly. You'll have to make do and die!"
As Elbert finished speaking, the giant 'crystals' shot forward!
Herschel was terrified!
He waved his hands, and the sand spikes behind him rose to meet Elbert's 'crystals'!
A dull sound echoed!
Herschel's sand spikes were far less dense and harder than Elbert's 'crystals'!
With each collision and cut, Herschel's spikes shattered into sand!
He watched in disbelief, his worldview crumbling!
In his eyes, the incoming crystals were reflected!
He was so shocked that he forgot to resist!
"How did he do it?"
"I can't understand."
"How can there be a magician better than me in the world?"
The sharp crystals tore Herschel to pieces!
