Chapter 429 Passerby

In the Celestial Pioneer.

Elbert sat in the driver's seat, lost in thought.

"Man... the innocence of youth."

Quentin crossed his arms, adopting a knowing stance, and chuckled, "You look just like I did at fifteen, sneaking a peek at women bathing."

Elbert slowly turned his head, his expression darkening.

Quentin covered his mouth with his fist, "I mean, that feeling of being awestruck by the beauty of creation, very classy!"

Elbert spoke softly, "Quentin, this stays between us."

Quentin thumped his chest, "Don't worry... I... ugh..."

He was seasick again.

Elbert was utterly exasperated, both mentally and physically drained.

Ten minutes later.

Celestial Pioneer soared through the sky, reaching 230 miles into the heart of the Galaxy District.

Robert had already taken measurements; the radiation levels ahead were far above normal, and Celestial Pioneer could go no further!

Elbert prepared to continue the exploration on foot.

Quentin, finally able to get some fresh air, refused to return to Celestial Pioneer.

It was around 9 PM.

Ahead lay a pitch-black expanse, devoid of any light!

The area was filled with waist-high weeds and towering trees!

Once Celestial Pioneer concealed itself in the sky, the last bit of light vanished!

It was so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

But this scene was no challenge for Elbert.

His right eye's night vision mode allowed him to see everything around him in black and white.

Quentin, being an F-grade cyborg, had senses far beyond those of ordinary people and could move without difficulty.

Elbert turned to look at Quentin.

Even in black and white, he could tell Quentin's face was green.

Quentin looked miserable, "I'm hungry."

Elbert sighed softly.

Quentin might be a cyborg, but after vomiting up a flying saucer, his stomach was empty. No wonder he was hungry!

Quentin suddenly started giggling.

Elbert was taken aback, "Why are you laughing?"

"I don't know, I just feel like laughing, and I'm really hungry, hehe," Quentin said, a bit dazed.

Elbert shook his head, "We're surrounded by wilderness, you'll have to tough it out."

Then they continued forward, with strange insect noises and the occasional low growl of wild animals echoing around them.

The atmosphere was eerie and terrifying.

Despite this, Quentin's giggles kept breaking the silence, adding to the creepy feeling.

"Quentin, you're really setting the mood."

"Hehe, I'm so hungry."

Elbert couldn't conjure food out of thin air, so he ignored Quentin and focused on the path ahead.

Though it was late summer, being deep in the wilderness, the night air was still chilly.

It made goosebumps rise involuntarily!

Elbert cautiously sensed his surroundings.

Suddenly there was a disturbance in the nearby grass!

It seemed like a figure, moving quickly on all fours, was fleeing!

Elbert frowned and took a step forward.

Quentin laughed and started running towards the disturbance.

"Quentin, be careful!"

Elbert was torn, shouting as he turned back.

Quentin stopped, "A hamburger!"

He bent down and picked up a clump of dirt, taking a bite.

"Yuck!"

"This is dirt?"

Quentin was stunned, then spotted a piece of dead wood on the ground, "A drumstick?"

He picked up the branch and bit into it.

Elbert rushed forward, grabbing Quentin's shoulders, "What's wrong with you?"

"I'm fine, just hungry!"

Quentin's eyes were dull, his mind clearly foggy.

Elbert suddenly remembered something.

He opened Quentin's hand, the red dye still staining his palms.

Robert realized, "I thought the plant Quentin was holding earlier looked familiar, it's a mutated mandrake flower!"

"This plant releases scopolamine and tetrahydrocannabinol, causing hallucinations!"

Elbert's mind flashed back to the earlier scene.

Quentin had found a huge plant while massaging four crew members, tearing off its flowers.

It seemed he was poisoned!

Robert said, "Quentin will be fine, his body is strong, he'll recover after a while."

Elbert was worried.

This radiation zone was full of hidden dangers.

Just then there was another disturbance in the grass, and in the darkness, a pair of glowing eyes peered through the foliage at them.

The shocking part was.

It wasn't any animal, but more like a skeletal child!

Elbert stepped forward to investigate.

But the 'child' turned and vanished into the grass.

As Elbert was puzzled.

A faint light appeared behind him.

He turned, his heart skipping a beat.

Two figures stood in the distance.

One was a towering man, at least 7 feet tall, hunched and muscular.

He had no hair, half his face was corroded, exposing his teeth and jawbone.

On his back, he carried an iron cage.

Inside were two children, around three or four years old, their legs unnaturally long, dangling outside the cage.

The light came from a lantern the monstrous man held.

The other figure was much slimmer, looking like a woman.

But!

This woman was covered in sores, her skin hanging in patches, seemingly about to peel off.

Quentin had somehow approached the two figures.

"Ma'am, you're so beautiful!"

He smiled dazedly, "Is there any food around here?"

From Quentin's perspective.

This was a strong bald man carrying a baby stroller and a very pretty young villager.

Elbert was horrified!

He crossed 30 feet in an instant, pulling Quentin behind him.

The woman covered in sores smiled, speaking in the local language, "Hello, we've been waiting for you."

Elbert was stunned!

This 'woman' looked terrifying.

But her voice was surprisingly pleasant!

Clear and melodious!
