Chapter 74 Tricky the Brown Family
"Elbert, Mr. Brown, you definitely don't need to worry," Jeffery said, flexing his wrist. "I'm the kind of person who naturally attracts hatred; wherever I go, assassination follows. My men will quickly start an investigation. Besides, professional assassins never show up in the same place again. Rest assured, the Brown Family estate is safe."
"General Jeffery, I truly admire your composure in the face of danger," Elbert responded, though his brow remained furrowed.
The soldiers Jeffery brought were swift and efficient. In less than 30 minutes, they secured the scene, but they found little useful evidence.
Jeffery was indifferent to this. He said the only reason for the assassination attempt was to stop the Veridiania military's experimental plan. Instead of wasting time finding the culprit, it would be better to push forward with the research!
After Elbert sent Gary back to the hospital, he returned alone to the Brown Family estate. In his room, Elbert meticulously organized his thoughts. In his mind, the image of the female assassin kept replaying.
After Robert searched the nearby cameras and ran simulations, the assassin's appearance became crystal clear. It matched the previous predictions perfectly!
Gradually, Elbert's brow relaxed, and he smiled wryly.
'A so-called cyborg? The Brown Family's affairs seem to be more complicated than imagined!' thought him.
The next morning, Elbert was, as usual, exercising in the yard. Lori slowly walked out the door. When she saw Elbert, she instinctively avoided eye contact and headed straight to the garage. It looked like she was going to drive herself.
"Lori, where are you headed today?" Elbert asked with a smile.
Lori forced a smile. "I wouldn't dare let you be my driver again. My father said you're now a guest of the Brown Family."
"A guest's status and duties are unrelated," Elbert replied, sliding into the driver's seat and looking back with a smile.
"I have something to discuss with you today!" he said.
Lori pursed her lips, then finally nodded. "Let's go to Soul Compass Counseling."
On the way, Lori, sitting in the back seat, took out a metal ballpoint pen and kept clicking it, looking tense.
Elbert chuckled softly. "Miss Brown, is something making you anxious?"
"Honestly, I really want to know who you are. I also want to know how much I misunderstood you before," Lori said somewhat hesitantly.
Elbert pondered briefly, then Lori immediately added, "It's okay if you don't want to say. I guess I don't have the right to ask."
Elbert shrugged with a smile. "Identity is such an interesting thing; the treatment really is different whether you have one or not!"
After a while, Lori couldn't help but ask again, "You were joking about holding a concert with my brother-in-law, right?"
Elbert raised an eyebrow. "I'm not one to joke."
"Actually," Lori kept clicking the pen. "You don't have to insist so much. I lack the ability, and my plan isn't good enough. If I lose to Rex in new product marketing, I have no complaints."
She then added, "Even though I know you have an extraordinary background, when it comes to public concerts, no one's influence can surpass Paul's. I'm afraid whatever we do will be in vain."
Lori's eyes lowered. Though she verbally conceded, her eyes were full of unwillingness.
"Don't overthink it. I'm doing this first for myself! In four days, our charity event will proceed as scheduled, right in front of Gary's hospital!" Elbert rubbed his chin and added. "Just make sure to buy more snacks for the event."
"Snacks?" Lori asked, puzzled. "Why buy snacks?"
"Of course, for the kids. Who else will perform for you?" Elbert replied without looking back.
He was talking about the disabled children in the hospital. He wanted those kids to perform.
Thinking of the pure smiles of those children, Lori felt a surge of motivation.
"Alright, let's treat it as a party for the kids!" she said with a delighted look.
Before long, the car arrived at its destination: Soul Compass Counseling, Wavehaven's top private psychology clinic.
After getting out of the car, Lori said somewhat embarrassedly, "Elbert, I trust you, which is why I brought you here. Please keep my schedule confidential."
Elbert smirked. "In this crazy world, everyone being a bit crazy is actually normal! Don't worry, I'll keep your secret."
"You..." Lori was once again annoyed by Elbert. She wanted to retort, but thinking of Elbert's intimidating background, she swallowed her words and managed to smile slightly! Lori composed herself and rang the doorbell.
The ornate wooden door opened. A woman in a lab coat stood there. She wore a black shirt underneath, held a clipboard, and had a black pencil skirt that accentuated her long, slender legs in black stockings, topped off with high heels.
She had shoulder-length hair, perfectly proportioned features, flawless skin, and was absolutely stunning. The most unique feature was a mole at the corner of her right eye, not natural but drawn by herself.
Seeing this pretty woman, Elbert was stunned for a second.
Without even asking, Robert already knew Elbert's thoughts, so he started searching for the data about this woman.
Then, a series of data appeared in Elbert's vision:

This woman had quite a bit of information on social media!
"Lori, you're here?" Aria smiled slightly, greeting Lori. Suddenly, she noticed Elbert standing beside her. "And this is?"
Lori, a bit embarrassed, said, "I told you about him. This is Elbert."
"Elbert?" Aria's interest was piqued immediately. She looked Elbert up and down with her beautiful eyes. Then, she couldn't help but pull up a warm smile, her eyes full of excitement!
