Chapter 462 Desert Encounter

The next few hours in Arcturus were pure chaos.

After an hour of wild celebrations in the water, the people learned a devastating truth: all that water came from the waste storage tanks of the Stellar Nuclear Facility!

The 1,210,037 long tons of nuclear wastewater had run dry, spilling across the land of Arcturus!

The Arcturus government was in shambles. This could mean the end of the nation!

Other countries that had opposed Arcturus's wastewater dumping secretly breathed a sigh of relief. They quickly closed their borders to Arcturus citizens, fearing they might bring radioactive contamination.

"Serves them right," they thought.

Arcturus even activated its doomsday response plan. The top officials retreated to nuclear bunkers and distributed anti-radiation medication to the public. Many citizens began showing symptoms—fever, headaches, and confusion.

Four hours later, another announcement came from Arcturus. After testing thousands of people, the officials reached an embarrassing conclusion: they all just had the flu.

The world was in an uproar. What was going on?

Soon after, Arcturus reported that the radioactive substances in the wastewater were negligible, almost harmless. The radiation from the two leaking reactors had nearly disappeared. The threat was eliminated!

Thousands of engineers were scratching their heads, unable to understand why.

A worker in the Stellar Nuclear Facility's control room claimed he saw a figure in the wastewater pressure chamber. It was likely that this figure absorbed all the radiation!

Quickly, nuclear scientists worldwide dismissed this as nonsense. But regardless, this bizarre incident shook the Arcturus officials to their core. Someone must be controlling and monitoring everything from behind the scenes. They had to handle nuclear leaks with caution and abandon their reckless attitude.

Among countless news reports, one stood out, from Veridiania journalist Henry. His report included a video showing the back of a young man in white, strolling through the Stellar Nuclear Facility, boarding a UFO, and disappearing into the sky.

The headline read: "Mysterious Alien Appears, Condemns Arcturus's Atrocious Acts!"

This news drew massive attention. The Arcturus government quickly issued a statement, calling it nonsense and accusing Henry of slander. Henry was furious. Even his own editor doubted the video's authenticity.

Henry was determined. He knew that the white-clad man had intervened to warn Arcturus.

"I will prove this happened!" He began frantically searching for UFO news.

"Students at Victoria University claimed they saw this UFO!"

"Several netizens in Lumaria reported seeing the UFO near Galaxy District!"

"The crew of the movie 'Radiation Horror' claimed they were rescued by this UFO!"

Henry's eyes sparkled. It was real!

"I'll search every corner of the earth to find him and prove his existence!"

Meanwhile, an elderly man in Veridiania, deeply believed these incredible stories. Sitting at his computer, he sipped coffee from his new mug and sighed, "Good thing this didn't happen in Veridiania."

Thousands of miles away, a bald man in Victoria sat in his large office, scoffing. He seemed to believe only they understood the situation.

"Foolish Arcturus, they must have pissed off Paul Four! He's finally taking action against them!"

Elbert had already arrived at Tack Desert four hours earlier. Standing deep in the desert, he closed his eyes to sense his surroundings. Although his second-stage gene lock was only at 99.9%, just shy of the third stage, he felt his control had skyrocketed.

"Robert, simulate 99% magician DNA."

With that command, Elbert's perception transformed. The vast desert beneath his feet felt incredibly familiar. He tried to control it, and the sensation of manipulating silicon elements grew stronger.

One mile... five miles... ten miles... fifteen miles... Elbert kept pushing his limits. Soon, he realized he could control the sand up to twenty miles, but his sensing range extended to thirty miles.

Tiny vibrations spread out. Centered on Elbert, every grain of sand began to tremble, creating ripples on the desert surface. From a distance, it looked like a gentle breeze was blowing.

Elbert had a wild and bold idea. He wanted to lift the ground within a fifteen-mile radius!

The vibrations intensified. Just as Elbert was about to unleash his full power, he heard the sound of engines in the distance. Squinting, he saw three modified monster trucks approaching, equipped with massive sand tires and extra fuel tanks. They were likely professional desert off-road enthusiasts.

Elbert exhaled and temporarily withdrew his power. The trucks noticed him and slowly drove over, kicking up sand as they stopped in front of him.

A burly man in desert gear, wearing sunglasses and a scarf, got out. He had an assault rifle slung over his back.

"What are you doing here?" the man asked in a low voice.

Elbert frowned and swiftly pulled off the man's scarf, revealing a Western face. The man stepped back in shock, drawing his rifle and aiming at Elbert.

"Who are you?" he demanded.

Elbert didn't answer. He quickly scanned the man's face and vehicle information.

"Terry Perez, 32, native of Gloriana, retired Victoria special forces. Currently head of security at Rhys International Artifacts Auction Company."

Elbert was suspicious. They weren't from the Apocalypse Association, but an auction company? Driving professional off-road vehicles and carrying heavy weapons into the Tack Desert? This had to be a cover for artifact thieves, possibly tomb raiders.

"Robert, this auction company is strange. They rarely sell items. They've been spending a fortune acquiring ancient artifacts, mostly related to lost civilizations."

Meanwhile, six or seven more men got out of the trucks, all armed and aiming at Elbert. Elbert flexed his wrist, his mind racing with a thousand ways to take them down.

Then, another figure emerged from the truck. She wore a camo vest and shorts, with a military knife at her waist and a ponytail. Her tanned skin and confident stance exuded the aura of a seasoned adventurer.

"Lower your guns, he's one of us," she said, approaching Elbert with a smile. "Elbert, long time no see."

Elbert hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Didn't expect you to look like a different person in new clothes."
