Chapter 130 Gemini Music
Cassius's hands gripped his phone so tightly that his knuckles turned white.
He just got the news that Paul was developing the Gemini music.
Cassius cursed under his breath. “They're actually getting into music? Are they trying to take down Meta Platforms Company Music?”
He fully realized that the activity level of Meta Platforms Company was already at an all-time low. While he was suffering from anxiety, an incoming call from Jacob made Cassius break into a cold sweat.
Upon hearing the ring of the phone, Benjamin, standing beside him, stumbled and turned to run.
"Benjamin, stop right there!" Cassius shouted. "We have to face this together!"
Cassius glared fiercely at Benjamin, his fingers trembling as he pressed the answer button.
"Cassius, you idiot!" Jacob’s voice roared through the phone. "You actually hired people to spread rumors? Are you out of your mind? If it weren't for this critical time, I would've kicked you out long ago!"
Cassius listened to every word, his mouth twitching continuously.
"Cassius, listen to me. The creator is getting into music now!" Jacob said. "I don’t care what methods you use; we need to stop that crazy Paul!"
Ten minutes later, the call ended, but it left Cassius sitting firmly back in his office chair.
Although Jacob was furious, he was the founder of Meta Platforms Company, and his intellect was extraordinary. He left Cassius with a hint: If you can't match them in business, there are still plenty of ways to destroy your opponent, including legal means!
Cassius pondered Jacob's words and finally began to clear his thoughts. Suddenly, he burst into a sinister laugh. The more he laughed, the more maniacal he became.
"First, the core code of your Gemini app is about to fall into my hands, and then you'll have only one outcome! Second, you dare to venture into music? And launch in 24 hours? What a joke! I see you, Paul Three, and you, Creator, have really become overconfident!
"Let’s assume you can develop a music feature within 24 hours. But the core of a music platform is the content! That means music tracks! What do you have? All music is copyrighted!
"And my Meta Platforms Company Music holds exclusive rights to over 50% of the market's music copyrights! Various major platforms hold the rest! What about you, Creator? Magically create them? You'd die trying!
"Maybe, within 24 hours, you can sign a few copyrights. But how many can you get? 10? 100? At most, 500! What, your Gemini app platform with 900 million users, is going to play just a few tracks for them? And match their moods? Wishful thinking! Our Company holds at least 500,000 music copyrights! And almost all famous singers have exclusive signing channels. They can't switch contracts during the term! Do music? Wait for your demise!"
Standing next to him, Benjamin finally showed a smile. "Mr. Greene, there is no doubt they'll try to source songs from the internet! Mr. Russell's meaning is clear! If the Creator sources them, that's infringement!"
He added, "We'll immediately send in the legal team to sue them! Sue them until they're bankrupt! No matter how good their Gemini app algorithm is, in the end, the company will be destroyed, and the technology will be ours!"
Cassius finally saw a glimmer of victory and said through gritted teeth, "The moment Gemini app Music launches will be the moment it perishes! Paul Three, even you will make mistakes!"
Feeling triumphant, Cassius went to the window, looking down at the view below.
"By the way, Benjamin, help me contact the CEOs of HarmonyTune, MeloMix, and BeatWave. I want to invite them to dinner!" Cassius instructed.
Benjamin scratched his head. "But they are our competitors, you mean..."
Cassius replied with his hands behind his back, "They were our competitors, but not for now. I want to ally with them! Between us, we hold almost all music copyrights. No matter whose content the Creator uses, we'll sue them immediately! I won't give them any chance to survive!"
On the rooftop of the Gemini app building, Alvin asked, "Elbert, making music requires a vast library of copyrights. You couldn't have overlooked this, right?"
"I've thought about it," Elbert smiled slightly, taking out his phone. "I'm handling it right now."
Alvin breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that Elbert was indeed Elbert, never fighting an unprepared battle. He turned to look at Elbert's phone.
Elbert opened the Gemini app stage and posted a message using his own account.
[Friends, Gemini app Music is now collecting high-quality music content. Once signed, the compensation will be generous!]
"That's it?" Alvin's eyes widened in shock.
Elbert shrugged. "That's it."
"Elbert, are you kidding me!" Alvin panicked. "We're Gemini app, with 900 million users! There are 400 people downstairs working overnight to develop the music feature! The music library is crucial! And you just posted this one message?"
He added, "We do have a lot of fans! But this is music! What we need the most are the copyrights! But many singers have signed with other companies! When you told me about this, I thought you had already acquired the copyrights! You're going to kill us!"
Alvin started pacing in circles, but Elbert remained calm. "Alvin, don't worry. I also developed a backend program called 'Music Master.' This intelligent program can identify and select high-quality music based on human preferences. Any music enthusiast can upload their work, and the quality will be instantly apparent."
He continued, "And if it meets the standards, our platform will immediately sign an electronic contract, with a 55% revenue share for copyrights."
Alvin listened, dumbfounded. He sighed and looked up at the sky.
"Elbert, this feature is great, but there are still no test-takers! The important thing is that people are willing to submit their work! You're driving me crazy!" Alvin started pacing in circles again. "Forget it. I'm not wasting time with you. I'm going to contact people and collect music copyrights! As much as I can get!"
Watching Alvin's hurried figure, Elbert shouted, "Don't forget to use Music Master!"
"Of course I will! But I'm just afraid no one will use it!" Alvin shouted back as he ran downstairs.
