Chapter 18 Where Is Your Backbone?
Elbert took off his apron and sat down calmly.
"Do you want some?" he asked.
"We..."
"We don't want any of this cheap fried rice!"
Although they said so, they really wanted to eat it.
"Alright then."
Elbert took a spoonful of fried rice and gently put it in his mouth.
Mary and Susan stared in a daze.
Elbert showed a look of enjoyment. "Bake it in the oven for 4 minutes to remove the surface moisture from the rice, making each grain separate. The texture is just right, soft yet firm, very satisfying!"
Elbert took another bite, chewing slowly and savoring it.
"In the scorching summer, people tend to lose their appetite. Adding celery gives the fried rice a refreshing touch, making it truly appetizing!"
Mary and Susan blinked their big eyes, staring intently at the plate of fried rice, swallowing their saliva continuously.
Elbert held the plate up to the light. The entire plate of rice was golden and translucent, exceptionally beautiful.
"With my technique, the egg is completely beaten and coats each grain of rice. After stir-frying, each grain is golden, not only beautiful but also full of flavor."
"This is the legendary golden fried rice!"
Elbert explained and took another bite, sneaking a glance at the two young ladies, laughing to himself.
Mary could hardly control herself, instinctively wanting to pounce!
Elbert elegantly turned the plate of fried rice towards them, smirking, "So, ladies, did you just call it cheap food."
'I can't take it anymore!'
"I want the golden egg fried rice so badly!"
The two young ladies pounced like hungry tigers.
They grabbed Elbert's bowl and chopsticks and started eating voraciously!
"This is so good. I've never had anything this delicious in my life!"
"Let me have some more; it's worth dying for!"
"Elbert, your cooking skills are amazing..."
The two young ladies were almost in tears, full of gratitude.
Elbert smiled mysteriously.
He got up, turned on the stove, and started frying another batch!
Clearly, Mary and Susan would finish the rice, leaving him nothing!
"Elbert, we won't eat this for free!"
Mary mumbled; her mouth full of fried rice. "We'll pay you $10,000 for this bowl!"
'Paying money?'
Elbert found it both funny and exasperating.
But what Mary said next left Elbert speechless.
"Elbert, deducting this $10,000, you should make us another 499 bowls!"
"Don't forget, you took $5 million from my family!"
Five minutes later.
"Make us more, it's not enough!"
"Alright!"
After a full two hours and frying up to the fourth plate, it was finally Elbert's turn to enjoy!
The two young ladies had eaten three large plates of rice!
Mary and Susan were now completely satisfied, patting their round bellies, leaning back in their chairs with their eyes closed, resting.
Only then did Elbert casually ask, "Mary, Susan, why haven't I seen Mr. Ingram today?"
Uncovering Rex's plan and protecting Lori were Elbert's main reasons for staying here. Now that he had the chance, he was going to investigate thoroughly.
"They have their own home; they don't live here!"
"And our father is busy with work and doesn't come back often. Usually, it's just the three of us living here!"
"So, it's just you three, young, beautiful lady, living here?" Elbert frowned.
Mary suddenly realized something was off and clutched her chest nervously. "What are you planning to do?"
"What am I up to?"
"You better be careful when you sleep at night!"
Elbert got up to leave, and as he did, he turned back and gave a mischievous smile.
The two young ladies shivered in fear!
But then they noticed Elbert's expression for a brief moment.
‘His expression was full of disdain?!’ they thought.
In the dark of night.
A figure rapidly climbed up the side of the main building of the Brown Family estate, moving as fast as lightning!
In no time, the figure stood at the peak of the building, overlooking the entire estate.
A flash of purple light flickered in his right eye, eerie like a demon in the night.
It was Elbert after dinner.
The Brown Family estate was only six stories high, and with his physical strength, he climbed up effortlessly!
Elbert pondered.
'Rex wouldn't be foolish enough to try to deal with him here at the Brown Family estate, would he?'
But he didn’t care, and he knew that no matter what methods he used, he could handle it!
'However, what I care the most is...!'
'How would he deal with Lori?'
'It was clear that Lori is a strong opponent for Rex in controlling the Brown Family's shares.'
'Could he be planning to kill Lori?'
Feeing Elber's worry, Robert spoke up.
"Don't worry. I've taken control of all the surveillance equipment in the Brown Family estate. If anything unusual happens, I'll notify you immediately!"
"Okay, Robert, can you monitor Rex?"
"That depends on whether there are network cameras where he is!"
"But he hasn't done anything special today; he's currently entertaining himself!"

A scene appeared in Elbert's view.
Inside a luxurious club bedroom.
Rex lay on the bed, with two women standing beside him, giving him seductive glances.
The two women were sexy and charming, and they looked strikingly similar!
Rex sighed. "Even though they're twins, they still can't compare to Mary and Susan!"
"Those two Brown Family girls keep showing up in front of me, making me burn with desire. One day, when I take over the Brown Family, I'll have them under me, serving me well!"
"Unfortunately, I have to wait a bit longer!"
The following scenes were too indecent to watch.
Elbert turned off the screen.
"Asshole. "
"Married to the elder sister, yet still lusting after the two younger ones!"
He exclaimed with anger.
