Chapter 423 The Oddball Arrives
The Celestial Pioneer zipped across the sky.
It looped around the Galaxy District, keeping a distance of about 300 miles.
Finally, it hovered 200 miles due south.
Robert suddenly appeared, dressed like a wizard and holding some kind of gadget. He chanted, "Hey, according to some top-secret info, there's a big radiation spike down south..."
"Going in there will keep Elbert safe..."
Elbert took a deep breath and jumped from the Celestial Pioneer to the ground. "Robert, you're an AI, and I'm a new human who absorbs radiation. We're cruising in a supersonic UFO over a nuclear wasteland."
"And you're talking to me about mysticism?"
Robert kept up his ritual, "You can time travel and break through the fifth dimension. This is nothing!"
Elbert shook his head with a grin, knowing Robert was just messing around. Ever since Robert woke up this time, he seemed different—more lively, more 'human,' like an 8-year-old kid.
Elbert walked forward.
Ahead was a small town.
He reached the edge of the town and could still see a corroded sign by the road—Turgville.
The place was deserted, as quiet as a ghost town.
Looking into the town, the streets were wide, lined with two- or three-story buildings. But the houses were run-down, and some even collapsed. Yet, the vegetation was unusually lush, with vibrant green moss covering almost every wall.
The trees by the road were enormous, their roots breaking through the soil, sprawling across the ground. Vines had grown to an alarming size, covering mailboxes and children's slides. The vines were dotted with colorful flowers, some as large as car tires, vibrant and mysterious.
Elbert strolled slowly.
At the end of the street, he saw that the town was completely overgrown, plants filling every corner, teeming with life.
A few spotted deer leisurely wandered out from the distance, weaving through the town, nibbling on the flowers.
Further away, a group of short-legged wild horses ambled about.
Elbert approached and gently patted a deer's head. The deer continued chewing, its big, watery eyes watching Elbert without a hint of fear.
For decades, this place had been devoid of humans, becoming a paradise for animals and plants, a testament to the purity of nature.
Elbert sighed, a strange thought crossing his mind.
Maybe Earth is most beautiful without humans.
Robert chimed in, "You're acting weird."
Elbert chuckled, "Yeah, but I don't want this Earth filled with monsters either."
With that, Elbert looked into the distance.
As the sun began to set, a dark figure appeared at the edge of the town.
It had legs like a human and a torso like a human, but above the shoulders, there was no head—just a large black cube.
In the fiery sunset, the figure walked slowly toward them.
Elbert smiled, hands behind his back.
From the direction of the figure came a grating voice, "Yeah, I'm here, don't worry. Damn, lost signal again."
As the figure drew closer, even the deer scattered.
"Paul Three, the mighty!"
The figure set down the large box on its shoulders and jogged over, embracing Elbert.
Elbert frowned, "Quentin, watch your manners."
"Haha, Paul Three, I can't believe you're still kicking. Thought you were long gone!"
Elbert frowned again, repeating, "Quentin, watch your words."
"And besides."
"Even if I were dead, I'd find time to come back and haunt you."
The newcomer, dressed in a black tracksuit, was none other than the legendary top fighter of Castilia, Quentin!
"Hey..."
"Paul Three, you have no idea how tough it was to bring you this gear!"
Quentin shook his head, "I ran into those 283 people outside this place!"
"They wanted to rough me up again!"
"But they seemed to have a mission today and took off in a hurry!"
"Otherwise... I'd be in trouble, no, they'd be in trouble!"
Apex Guardians, are they nearby?
Elbert's expression shifted.
Quentin's face changed, speaking mysteriously, "Paul Three, that's not all. Guess what else I saw?"
"I saw a UFO!"
"Can you believe it?"
"Silver, about this big... and it just vanished!"
Quentin gestured wildly, "That thing was amazing!"
Elbert nodded, "Yeah, it sure is amazing!"
"If you saw it, you'd lose your cool, your jaw would drop!"
Quentin suddenly snapped back, "Paul Three, what are you doing in a place like this? And what exactly did you have me bring from the Lab Graveyard?"
Elbert walked toward the large box, turning his back, "You've delivered it, now head back. It's dangerous here."
"Paul Three, I've got news for you."
"The plane that brought me here left. I can't go back."
Quentin scratched his head, "I'm sticking with you on this trip. I need to look after you, mainly because I'm afraid you'll die."
Afraid I would die?
Elbert turned to look at the man grinning at him.
Nice thought.
But who takes care of whom is still up in the air!
Suddenly, a scene appeared in Elbert's view.
It was a foreign live-streaming platform.
A dozen people clung to a dead tree, surrounded by swarms of giant man-eating rats!
Robert said, "They're 100 miles away. Should we help?"
Elbert sighed, "This place is deserted. If we don't help, they're pretty much toast."
Then, Elbert looked up at the sky!
Through the clouds, a silver shadow appeared in an instant!
"My God, that UFO, I see it!"
"Paul Three, look!"
Quentin stood with his hands on his hips, shouting at the UFO, "Listen up, I'm Punisher Black Clothes! You better..."
Elbert lifted the large box with one hand.
The UFO landed, the hatch opened, and Elbert walked in slowly.
Quentin stood there, mouth agape, pointing at Elbert, "Oh my God!"
Elbert turned his back. "Are you coming or not?"
