Chapter 464 Discovering the Target
Elbert took a bite of the green apple in his hand.
Crisp, juicy, slightly tart.
It reminded him of the day Robert first showed up.
It was an apple just like this one that had kicked off his wild new life!
Time flew by.
Building a business empire, cyber wars, the era of cyborgs, and even becoming the Savior!
Everything was so unbelievable.
Now, he faced a new enemy, the Apocalypse Association.
An organization that defied normal logic.
Operating under the guise of an apocalypse, hiding in the shadows, always evading, playing a cat-and-mouse game with Elbert!
The Apocalypse Association was surely brewing an unimaginable conspiracy, and Elbert had an unresolvable grudge against them!
Elbert connected all the dots.
The earliest discovered evil cyborg organization, 'Hercules,' adhered to something called the Apocalypse Treaty, avoiding any use of the internet!
Victoria's BioGen Innovations also kept its core secrets offline!
And from the core of their modification technology, it was clear they had received guidance from the Apocalypse Association!
Now, the Apocalypse Association itself not only had advanced modification technology but also avoided using the internet!
But the Apocalypse Association relied on satellite signals and high-tech equipment to tightly control all its members!
In short, they feared the internet but were also masters of it!
This left Elbert in a fog of confusion!
"Rachel!"
"Why are you so nice to him?"
Terry clung tightly to the car, too scared to reach for water, but started complaining!
Rachel's face remained calm. "I told you, Elbert is not an ordinary person."
"What's so special about him?"
"Coming to the desert to hunt for treasure without any data or theory?"
"And so unprofessional, not bringing any supplies?"
Terry glanced at Elbert. "If it weren't for us, he'd probably die of thirst out here!"
Rachel frowned. "Terry, if you keep talking nonsense, I'll throw you out of the car!"
"You..."
Terry finally shut his mouth, sulking.
At that moment, Elbert frowned slightly, sensing something.
He said quietly, "Rachel, have the convoy turn southwest. There's something there."
Rachel was taken aback, but, seeing Elbert's serious expression, hesitated only for a moment before picking up the communicator to call the lead car.
Terry immediately looked displeased. "Wait! What's going on? Why is the convoy taking orders from him now?"
But Rachel ignored Terry completely!
Terry got anxious. "I've already scanned the southwest direction with my instruments. There's nothing there. Don't waste time!"
Still, no one paid him any attention!
He got angry, stood up shakily, and reached for Elbert's shoulder.
"What are you doing, giving random orders?"
"Do you want me to..."
Before Terry could finish, Elbert suddenly turned around, his right eye flashing with a faint purple light.
A powerful sense of pressure hit Terry!
His hand froze in mid-air, and the rest of his sentence came out in a soft, timid voice.
"I'm telling you..."
"If there's nothing there, you'll have to cover the gas."
Terry, clutching his chest, sat back down, looking scared.
Elbert said nothing.
He continued to observe the surroundings as the vehicle moved, his sense of something growing stronger!
Ten minutes later.
The vehicle arrived at a flat sandy area.
It was calm, with no wind, and no sand dunes.
Only a few lonely desert cacti and some scurrying lizards.
Elbert got out, squinting his eyes.
Behind him, the entire archaeological team got out of their vehicles, gathering around Rachel.
Everyone looked puzzled.
Why was Rachel taking orders from this stranger?
"This is the place," Elbert said in a low voice.
Rachel didn't say much, just signaled to a few people behind her.
Reluctantly, they unloaded equipment from the vehicles and lazily began scanning the ground.
"We've already passed this area. There's nothing here!"
Terry continued to complain, looking at Elbert with disdain.
The metal detector beeped.
Everyone was startled, seeing the instrument display metal 60 feet underground!
"What?"
"Unbelievable, how did we miss this earlier?"
One team member looked shocked!
Terry also came over to examine the screen closely. "No need to get excited. The image shows that the metal is less than 0.1 cubic feet. It could just be desert junk!"
"Your instrument doesn't scan deep enough!"
Elbert shook his head. "Your metal detector uses electromagnetic waves, which can be refracted or even blocked by trace metals in the sand!"
"Considering your tendency to exaggerate, the actual range of your instrument is at most 300 feet!"
"What?"
"What did you say?"
Terry jumped up. "You just took one look and concluded? Our technology is world-leading! And when have I ever exaggerated?"
Rachel waved Terry off and approached Elbert.
"Elbert, we left in a hurry this time, and the more advanced equipment hasn't arrived yet."
"Are you sure there's something down there?"
Elbert nodded. "If it's an ancient city, congratulations. But if it's a modern one, you need to leave immediately!"
Rachel looked puzzled.
But she still ordered, "Prepare the equipment, start digging."
The team members, looking resigned, went back to the vehicles to get the equipment.
"If he's right, this thing is over 300 feet down!"
Terry looked unwilling. "Even with machinery, it'll take at least two days to dig. Rachel, are you sure about this?"
Rachel looked serious. "I trust Elbert. Stop wasting time."
"No need, just step back."
Elbert closed his eyes slightly, seeming to focus his attention.
"Is he about to use some mysterious power?"
Terry shook his head with a smile. "A new trick?"
