Chapter 186 Visiting Paul Two

"Spring?"

"Sir?"

"What in the blazes is going on here?" Raven sputtered, his face turning ashen.

He stared at the girl, his mind struggling to process the scene before him. One minute ago, he was bragging about his secret weapon; Mad Soldier. The next, she was responding to his enemy's casual summons, standing obediently behind him like a loyal subordinate.

He naturally found something was terribly wrong.

"Mad Soldier, what are you doing?" he stammered, his voice trembling.

But Spring ignored him completely. She was too busy talking to Elbert, her gaze fixed on him with an intensity that sent shivers down Raven's spine.

"Spring," Elbert said, his voice deceptively gentle. "Why would you work for someone like this?"

She hesitated, nodding toward Elbert. "I asked Summer to look after the orphanage, and I leave there for..." she mumbled. "Raven promised to help me find information about our past, but he needs me to..."

She trailed off, her gaze dropping to the floor. "Sir, I... I didn't know he was dealing with you. I didn't know you were Paul Two."

These words slammed into Raven like a physical blow.

In fact, this seemingly harmless girl he'd been boasting about, was one of the four children Gary had adopted; one of Elbert's siblings.

'And if she was anything like her Sir, then...'

Thinking of this, Raven swallowed hard, his throat suddenly dry.

Elbert smiled, but there was no warmth in it. "Of course I don't blame you, Spring. It's just... these street fights, they're beneath you. You've shown remarkable restraint."

He looked up at Raven, his expression hardening. "Tell me, Spring," he asked, his voice deceptively casual. "Why do you think this bottom-feeder claimed he could help you find information about your past?"

Spring shook her head, her brow furrowed.

"Because he's a child trafficker, Spring," he said in disgust. "He's been kidnapping children for years. He's a monster."

Spring's head snapped up, her eyes widening in horror. She stared at Raven, her gaze icy.

Elbert sighed. "Unfortunately, I doubt he even knows anything about your past. He was lying to you, Spring. Using you."

The air in the room crackled with tension.

The Black Fox gang members exchanged stunned glances.

'Mad Soldier is Mr. Paul's friend?'

'No wonder she's so terrifying.'

Raven, meanwhile, felt nauseous. He'd walked into the enemy's den, not only without backup, but with his enemy's sister as his supposed trump card.

He'd been an idiot.

He looked at the Black Fox gang members, their faces a mixture of shock and dawning fury. He looked at Mad Soldier, her eyes burning with cold rage. He then looked at Elbert, who sat there watching him with an unnervingly calm expression.

He was trapped.

His mind raced, desperately searching for an escape route.

Suddenly, he grinned widely.

"Well, this is just wonderful!" he exclaimed, clapping his hands together. "A happy reunion! I'm so glad I could help reunite you with your sister, Mr. Paul. What a joyous occasion!"

He scrambled to his feet, knocking over his chair in his haste. He brushed imaginary dust from the desk, wiping the chair down with his sleeve.

"You see, Mr. Paul, this was all a big misunderstanding," he babbled in a high-pitched and frantic tone. "We're practically family! Dragon Pride, Black Fox... we're all on the same side now, right?"

He wiped the sweat from his forehead, his eyes darting toward the window. The street below was swarming with Black Fox members, effectively blocking his escape.

"I'll just be on my way then," he said, backing toward the door. "I need to, uh, take inventory of the gang's assets. Yes- that's it. And then I'll deliver them to you personally, Mr. Paul. Every last one."

"Stay," Elbert said softly.

Raven froze, his legs turning to jelly.

"Mr. Paul, please," he whimpered, dropping to his knees. "I made a mistake. I won't press charges against you, Sir. Just let me go, please."

Elbert smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "Spring," he said in a low voice. "He's all yours. Just... try not to kill him."

"Yes, Sir," Spring replied, her voice emotionless.

She turned toward Raven, her hair falling forward to conceal her expression.

The next moment, Raven, self-proclaimed fighting champion, was on the ground. He was clutching his stomach and gasping for air. Spring hadn't even moved fast, but her strike was precise, brutal, and utterly unexpected.

Then, the screams started.

Even the hardened Black Fox gang members cringed, their blood running cold.

Spring, the seemingly innocent little girl, was ruthless. Her hands moved with terrifying precision, targeting joints, pressure points, and vulnerable spots with efficiency.

Three minutes later, Raven was battered and bruised, whimpering on the floor. Outwardly, he looked unharmed. But beneath his clothes, every joint had been dislocated, every muscle spasming into agonizing immobility. He couldn't even scream properly anymore, his jaw hanging at an unnatural angle.

The Black Fox gang members watched in stunned silence.

One thing was clear; they'd never, ever cross Mr. Paul. Not if they valued their kneecaps, elbows, or their ability to breathe without screaming.

By ten o'clock that morning, the Black Fox headquarters, deserted just hours earlier, was buzzing with activity.

Luxury cars lined the street, their occupants being big figures of Wavehaven's underworld. Men with tattoos and expensive suits, their faces apprehensive and respectful, walked into the building with gifts.

Word had spread like wildfire.

Mr. Paul, Black Fox gang's mysterious leader, was holding a court session.

Inside, the fifth-floor banquet hall was packed. Over a dozen tables spread lavish dishes, but no one dared touch the food yet.

"Leader of the Midnight Eclipse Cartel, Mason Brooks, arriving!" a voice boomed from the entrance.

The room went silent as a distinguished-looking man in a tailored suit strode in, escorted by two burly men carrying ornately-wrapped boxes behind him.

Elbert sat on a sofa near the entrance, his posture relaxed yet commanding. Melissa stood behind him, her usual stoicism replaced by a hint of pride. Spring, her earlier anger gone, stood beside Melissa while looking at the arriving guests. Three high-ranking Black Fox members completed the tableau, their faces etched with a mixture of awe and apprehension.

"Mr. Paul," Mason Brooks greeted, bowing respectfully. "I am honored to finally meet you. I have long admired your... reputation."

He gestured toward the gift bearers. "A small token of my respect, Mr. Paul. Rare treasures, flown in from abroad just this morning." He straightened, his expression turning serious. "From this day forward, the Midnight Eclipse Cartel is at your service. We await your command."

Elbert nodded, smiling.

Mason Brooks bowed again, then made his way into the banquet hall with his entourage behind.

"Leader of the Bloodmoon Mafia, reporting for duty!" another voice announced. "We present you with a golden dragon sculpture, crafted by the finest artisans in the land!"

"The Dark Serpent Sirhood is here!"

"Six cases of 1981 Burgundy, Mr. Paul. A toast to your continued success!"

For the next hour, the procession continued. Leaders of gangs, heads of criminal enterprises, and influential figures from Wavehaven's shadowy underbelly – all came to pay their respects to the new power in the city.

The Black Fox gang had risen.

And at its helm stood Elbert, the enigmatic Paul Two, his legend growing with each passing moment.
