Chapter 289 Strong Escape

"Eamon..." Dawn was taken aback, feeling a wave of emotion hit her.

"Come on, you're educated now, no need to cry!" Eamon snapped, still as grumpy as ever.

But right then, everyone saw him in a new light—he seemed solid, dependable.

Evalia's military commander, Wyatt Rivera, waved his hand. "With us here, no one needs to take risks! Four of you, get down the mine. The rest, evacuate the villagers!"

"Yes, Commander!" A dozen plainclothes military guys quickly responded and sprang into action.

Some headed for the cave entrance, while the rest started moving the villagers.

Dawn's dad stepped up. "They don't know the underground layout. I'll lead the way."

The commander hesitated, then nodded. Everyone else moved to a safe distance.

The villagers watched anxiously as Eamon and the four men in black approached the mine.

Just as Eamon was about to enter, a loud noise echoed from a distance.

The ground near the entrance suddenly gave way, forming a massive pit. Dust shot up, rising dozens of feet into the air.

"Oh no!" Eamon pulled back. "That's the bottom of the mine! It's collapsed!"

Dawn's eyes filled with tears. 'Mr. Perry iss still down there.'

The men in black slapped their thighs in frustration, realizing it was too late to escape.

Commander Wyatt's face was grim. He knew no one could survive a collapse like that.

"No! This can't be happening!" Dawn, frantic, ran to the collapse site, her hands clawing at the loose soil.

The ground stopped shaking, and the dust began to settle.

Commander Wyatt, looking somber, said, "He's an international friend. We owe Veridiania an explanation. Contact the military, bring in machinery, and start digging. We need to find his body."

The villagers of Luxor stood there, rooted to the spot.

This saint, gone just like that? Where's God now?

"No!" Dawn's heart-wrenching scream echoed through the air. Everyone bowed their heads in silence.

Suddenly, the ground trembled again, the soil shaking.

Everyone was startled. Was this another collapse?

Commander Wyatt, tense, waved his hand. "Move back!"

The ground shook even more violently.

But then, it felt like a powerful force was rising from deep underground, causing a thunderous vibration.

The commander's eyes widened. 'What's going on? Underground water? Magma?'

"Retreat ," he shouted.

But before the commander could finish his sentence, a loud noise erupted from the pit. Soil and rocks exploded everywhere.

A figure in white shot out. Elbert flew a good 30 feet into the air, then landed heavily, steady as a rock. He stomped his foot, shaking off the dust from his hair and body.

His right eye glowed purple, gradually dimming and calming down.

"Mr. Perry!" Dawn stumbled and ran over, hugging Elbert tightly. Tears streamed down her face like rain, as if she had been the one reborn.

Elbert's face turned slightly red. "Dawn, you don't need to worry. I told you, I'm not an ordinary person!"

Everyone else was awestruck in silence, as if the world was filled only with Dawn's sobbing.

It took three solid minutes for the villagers to react. They suddenly came to their senses, kneeling down and bowing, shouting praises.

Due to their ignorance and poverty, the scene just now could only be explained as a divine descent.

Commander Wyatt was also very shocked, but he quickly calmed down, thinking Elbert must be a cyborg. No one could have escaped from a collapsed cave and shot out of the ground like that, unscathed.

Moreover, he wasn't just any cyborg. With a body like that, he had to be at least a B+ level cyborg, likely stronger than the few cyborgs Evalia had.

Commander Wyatt instantly became cautious. He took a few steps toward Elbert, his attitude becoming respectful. "Mr. Perry, may I have a word with you?"

At this moment, Elbert, having just separated from Dawn, his face rosy, understood he needed to explain himself to the commander after that performance.

After comforting Dawn, he walked with the commander to a distance.

Commander Wyatt's expression became even more respectful. "Mr. Perry, I am stationed in Evalia after all. Your identity requires an explanation."

Having anticipated this, Elbert smiled slightly.

He took out a badge from his pocket, a symbol of a trident and lightning overlapping.

Stunned, Commander Wyatt reached out with both hands to take the badge, carefully examining it.

After a moment, he exclaimed in shock, "FIC! You are a hero agent of the FIC!"

Commander Wyatt's body trembled slightly, his expression excited. "Great, you finally sent someone to help us!"

Elbert grinned. He had prepared an explanation in advance and had done a simple investigation of Evalia's situation.

Evalia, being a poor country, lacked advanced cyborg technology and had to spend money to get warriors modified in other countries.

Recently, Evalia had suddenly been attacked by an unknown cyborg force. They couldn't resist, so they sought help from the International Cyborg Regulatory Committee!

It was precisely because of this that Elbert revealed this badge representing the FIC's Hero Squad at this moment.

Of course, Elbert wasn't actually sent by the FIC, because the FIC couldn't find him at all.
