Chapter 93 Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter

Elbert strolled leisurely, already formulating a plan to buy the 'Experimental Graveyard.'

Watching the sunset, he sighed and muttered to himself, "Since I don't have a place to stay, I'll have a drink with Gary tonight."

Gary's free clinic gained significant attention after Paul’s charity event. The old three-story building was piled high with supplies, and more were on the way. Yesterday, a large number of people showed up wanting to volunteer at the clinic, but Gary either refused them or directly sent them away.

For Gary, it wasn't about having more, but just enough. He was never a materialistic person, preferring peace and quiet over meaningless attention, a trait that always brought a sense of calm to those around him.

Gary was also a man no one would dare offend. With one phone call, Leonard, the head of the Wavehaven police, would send the special forces team to ensure no one dared cause trouble.

The night was slightly cool. On the rooftop of the three-story clinic, Gary and Elbert, tipsy, gazed at the antique piano in the distance. Empty whiskey bottles littered the ground around them.

"If you can't handle it, just give up. I can let you go. I can still drink another whole bottle!" Gary muttered before falling asleep.

Elbert, his face flushed and swaying, smiled slightly as he watched Gary sleep.

His body suddenly shook, and the alcohol in his system was instantly neutralized. He got up, went downstairs to fetch a blanket, and gently covered the old man.

Gary had mentioned that in three days, he would be going to the front lines with Jeffery. Once at the front lines, there would probably be no more drinking. The international situation had been unstable recently. An organization with advanced modification technology had repeatedly encroached on Veridiania's territory.

So, his mission was of grave importance, even concerning Veridiania's standing on the international stage.

To Gary, the Brown Family's research was clearly unreliable. All of Veridiania's human modification technology responsibilities currently rested on his shoulders, a fact that weighed heavily on him.

As Elbert was lost in thought, a nimble figure leaped up from the side of the building. It was a young man, about eighteen or nineteen, with a handsome and resolute face. His right arm was missing below the elbow.

The young man nodded slightly to Elbert and said calmly, "Elbert."

Elbert lit a cigarette and looked into the distance. "Summer, Gary said the clinic will rely on you four from now on."

The young man nodded, his eyes calm as water. "Don't worry, Elbert."

Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring. These four kids were orphans Gary had adopted, each abandoned by their families due to physical disabilities. Gary, being carefree, named them after the seasons they were found. Under Gary's years of teaching, each of them became skilled in medicine and top-notch military combat techniques.

When they turned 17, Gary let them leave to gain experience. Two days ago, Gary called them back to stay at the clinic and take care of the patients and children after Gary was gone. The four kids all respected Gary deeply and took the job without any question.

Elbert flicked his cigarette ash and smiled. "Summer, if you've got nothing to do, would you like to spar for a bit?"

Summer lowered his head slightly. "Elbert, no, we can't beat you."

"Oh, come on. You're young. Don't lose your confidence. Hold your head up!" Elbert laughed again.

"Elbert, we haven't lost our confidence. Except for you, every enemy we've faced is dead." Summer's voice was still calm, but his eyes were as dark as ink, deep and cold.

Elbert was stunned for a few seconds, then chuckled. "Does Officer Leonard still bother you?"

"Yes," Summer nodded.

Leonard was someone just like Jeffery. He valued talent and was eager to find it. When he saw Summer and the others, his eyes lit up! He wanted to recruit them into his special forces team.

Elbert scratched his head. "If he bothers you, just let me know. In fact, he admired you guys; he knew you were all good at fighting since you were mercenary. "

"Okay, Elbert."

Summer finally raised his head and couldn't help but ask, "Elbert, we've hidden our mercenary identities for so long. Why do you suddenly know everything now? "

Looking at Summer's flickering eyes, Elbert was a bit troubled. He bent down and found half a bottle of whiskey on the ground. He took a few gulps.

"When you can drink me under the table, I'll tell you the answer."

"Elbert, I feel like I can never outdrink you."

"Then you'll never know!"
